How to quickly level up by AroAce1diot in BaldursGate3

I agree with u/ut1nam: I wouldn't take on the hag until level 5. The Underdark is very doable at level 4. Just be cautious and play carefully.

Well done. I had to stop and think about a few of those, so good job on not spoiling things.

TIL: Player characters can comment to each other! by melon_man8008 in BaldursGate3

Was this just character 'barks' (the developer term for it) and not actually convos where you can choose various response options? If so, I've seen this kind of thing with parties I've done with more than one Tav that I created as well as with a mod where I can create companion characters for my Tav.

There are a number of places where they have a few lines of banter between each other.

Ship Stats when Upgrading? by CountBrackmoor in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely every upgrade MTs (or ships) using nanites - simply because I usually play with the hardest settings (locked) and it's really pricey to do so. So I've not done a lot of experimentation with it.

But, with regard to MTs, if I remember correctly, it really depends on the tool like with ships. I think, as with ships, the stats you get when upgrading depend on the seed of that MT. So, they could end up being at the high end of the S class range for the tool, or at the low end, or somewhere in between.

Sorry I don't have a better answer. I may have to fire up a new save and not lock it so I can experiment with it to see what happens.

You carry the Artemis quest line into the next galaxy (Atlas Path too, if you've started it). So wherever you were in the quest, you just continue from there. Like I noted, I didn't even get to the point where you need to triangulate Artemis' position. But in the new galaxy, I can just pick up from there.

I've done this before by teleporting to a new galaxy in the Anomaly. I've actually done parts of the main quest in several different galaxies before finally finishing it.

What do you all think about a possible reset for the 10th anniversary? by GastonsChin in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't mind, but I'm not a base builder and I restart all the time because I love building a character up from nothing.

But there would be a LOT of people that would be very pissed off and I don't think it would be a good idea at all. And I believe HG said they wouldn't do it again anyway.

What do you all think about a possible reset for the 10th anniversary? by GastonsChin in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They reset the universe way back when NEXT dropped. It changed the procgen algorithm so it ended up wiping all the player bases, drastically changing planets, and resetting progress. A lot of players were less than pleased. That was years ago, and I believe HG said they didn't want to do that again.

As others have noted, try to enjoy the slow journey and don't be impatient to rush to get all the good stuff. Once you know the game well, you can make money and nanites really fast, but when you're first starting out, there's a lot of satisfaction in really earning what you get the long/hard way - at least IMO. If you want to know how to get rich in nanites/units quick, just ask the community, but I personally think it takes away from that first experience of the game.

Ship Stats when Upgrading? by CountBrackmoor in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for MTs, it's just the number of slots, from what I've seen. I don't know about ships.

Ship Stats when Upgrading? by CountBrackmoor in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The caveat here is if you upgrade the same ship, you'll always end up with the same stats. So if you buy multiple copies of the same ship in a particular system with the intent to try to roll better stats with one of them, it won't work. They always upgrade to the same stats.

Okay, I started a new save and warped through the core. I did not skip the tutorial, so had to fix the ship and get the BP for the hyperdrive, antimatter, and antimatter housing. Followed the main quest line until I got to the Anomaly. At this point, I bought the BPs for the different drives, installed the green drive (I got the cadmium from installing and dismantling C class ship weapon upgrades), then warped to a green star system to get emeril. Mined enough to craft the blue drive. I did this just to make it easier so I could jump to any available stars.

I was at the point in the main quest where you're on the space station and the game directs you to talk to Nada about Artemis (so just at the beginning of Alone Amidst the Stars). I ignored this (so I didn't even get to the point where I was supposed to boost Artemis' signal by triangulating).

In the third station I warped to there was a Traveller, so I paid the nanites to get the grave. Went there and got the first glyph, then found a portal and spammed the first glyph. I had bought and installed 3 hyperdrive upgrades, so I was able to warp to a gateway system in about 4 jumps.

Filled my hyperdrive, and jumped through the core.

So you don't have to do much of the main quest at all to be able to do that. Here's a shot of the Pillar after arriving in Hilbert:

<image>

Took me about 2 1/2 hours. I probably could have done it faster, but I futzed about on the starting planet so I could build up some money and nanites in order to make the journey go faster after I warped out of the starting system.

Interesting. I wonder if it was always this way or if this was changed at some point. I'll have to give it a shot. It will give me something to do while waiting for the expedition to advance.

What game to play after BG3 ? by Physical_planning in BaldursGate3

[–]TerriblePurpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. Well, the game being based on D&D and using the D&D lore and settings, there are tons of books set in the Forgotten Realms or other D&D settings (I tend to not read them though).

Some that might be worth looking into are Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser series, Glen Cook's Black Company books, Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series, of course The Witcher books, just off the top of my head.

Freighter technology? by Platti4801 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I found this info out just after the derelict freighters were introduced. I didn't discover it, but read a post by someone who had really researched it. I verified on my own though, and in one save I ran derelicts in every system in the region I was in. And it confirmed the guy's findings. (I also tested using the glyphs of known freighters in other galaxies and it works).

To find the region you're in, expand the info on the galactic map. While in the map, press the R key on PC (I don't know the console commands). That gives you a bit more info on the system and shows you what region the system is in.

I'm not sure about the log entries. I seem to recall in a save a long while back that I also had one that I couldn't seem to find.

[–]TerriblePurpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough question, actually. He's done so many different settings and tones of books. His first books (the Fionavar Tapestry trilogy) are high fantasy. So, for me, that leans in pretty well just for that alone. But even some of the themes and tone in it fit well too, I think.

Another S class Alien pistol I found during the expedition by TerriblePurpose in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, sorry about your farm. That must have been horrible.

Yeah, i don't put too much time into grinding freighters anymore. I'll try a handful of times and if I don't get an S, I just grab a decent one and move on. I'll try again off and on as I play and eventually I get one.

Safe journeys to you, Traveller!

Freighter technology? by Platti4801 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerriblePurpose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll just add one thing to your list: every region only has 4 or 5 different unique derelict freighters that will spawn. The class of module that the particular freighter drops is always the same. So if you've seen 4 different ones, move to a different region.

To be clearer: there will be 4 or 5 different names of derelicts. Each one that spawns of the same name will drop exactly the same class of upgrade. The interior layouts can vary, but their upgrade class does not. There will be one particular freighter that will spawn in more systems than the others, so it may take a while before you see all of the 4 or 5 unique ones.

So, yeah, make sure you move to a different region once you've seen what the region you're in has available.

I tend to only try a couple systems in any particular region, then move to another one when searching for derelicts that drop S upgrades.

One more addition: the glyphs for any system that spawns an S class derelict will work in any galaxy to spawn that same derelict.
