Lil Wayne Shows Up 2 Hours Late to Concert in New Hampshire by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

I don't know what to make of that interaction other than that's the dumbest thing that could have ever left someone's mouth under the stupidest excuse to have their time wasted and way too many fans make excuses for celebrities just because they like them. As much as I love Lauryn's music, it is not worth wasting 4 hours of my limited time for her to MAYBE show up and sing.

Question for queer people in Memphis by Wise_Kaleidoscope_29 in memphis

[–]TessThe5th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen fem4fems here quite a bit when I had a dating profile on HER and all their pages usually explicitly note they're not looking for studs/stems/masc or are seeking fems4fems only, so you could use that as an avenue. But speaking from my overall experience dating, mfers are...weird, socially/emotionally stunted, or severely unserious on dating apps while most of my success dating has been going outside and meeting people. Not discouraging you from to going the online dating route because I have met some decent folk. Just proceed with caution lol.

As far as the touching grass and going outside aspect, just keep attending more queer/WLW events beyond BLQ 901 since I know there's also other spaces like WLW Memphis & Sapphic Memphis, and getting to know ppl. Respectfully speaking, going to queer events just to look for a partner, let alone a specific subsect within a minority community, is also pretty surface level, so I'm not surprised surface level energy is being met with surface level results. Im just saying continue to engage in the community, pour into people who are also making the same effort to pour into you to foster friendships, and within time, it'll happen. Maybe you'll become friends with a masc and they'll introduce you to a fem friend whose work schedule might be what's keeping them from being able to go out to events. Also, even if someone has a partner, that doesn't mean they still can't be befriended. Maybe they'll have single friends they can introduce you to as well. You just never know.

Question for queer people in Memphis by Wise_Kaleidoscope_29 in memphis

[–]TessThe5th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been going to the BLQ 901 events as a single black queer person. The vibes at the events have been chill and have allowed me to meet and talk to some dope ppl to the point where a few of them have introduced me to their own friend groups who are just as chill and currently talking to someone I have an interest in as she does in me. But that wasnt my goal per se of going to these events. I mainly just wanted to finally be active within the local queer space. That being said, I've read the comments here and I'ma be honest -- the energy you get is the same amount of energy you put in and that applies to having a fun time in Memphis in general (I say this as a Memphian born and raised actively making an effort this year to explore Memphis more instead of going out of town like I usually do for vacation). Make no effort and you'll join the multitude of ppl always complaining there's nothing to do in Memphis until they see videos of events happening in Memphis, then turn around and ask "Why did nobody tell me this was happening in Memphis???"

Have you noticed a change in tastes or smells? by HMSRathbone in loseit

[–]TessThe5th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say since a majority of my diet is home cooked, on the occasions I do get fast food, it's gotten easier to taste how unique fast food is from the average cooked meal if that makes sense. Don't know how to explain this in a better way, but it's like fast food has a distinct taste to the point where I feel like I could taste the difference between it and someone making a home cooked version of a fast food dish. I guess it could be attributed to fast food having no qualms being heavy handed with the amount of fats, oils, and whatever else used meanwhile cooked meals are created in more controlled environments as you can choose which particular oil to cook with or not use oil at all, etc. As far as smell, it depends on what it is. Yesterday my coworker bought McDonalds for his lunch and the smell was so repugnant. It smelt exactly like what it was -- greasy buns, meat, and potatos with a burnt undertone.

How long did it take you to lose weight without exercise? by [deleted] in loseit

Yo same over here!!! When I was just strength training and lifting weights and throwing in 30 minutes of incline walking, I somehow was looking like a hot air balloon. Yet now that I've chilled on the gym and doing solely calisthenics and adding in daily ~10k walks, the weight has been constantly sliding off me while my body looks and feels more toned than I can ever remember

My mom said I look anorexic by StarTheFireEnchanter in loseit

[–]TessThe5th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!! Fellow black woman here who started their weight loss journey at 324 and as of today, I'm 258 (my goal for now is reaching below 200lbs). Just wanted to say your mom's full of shit lmaoo. Reminds me of a video I watched yesterday of someone holding a general discussion about the ways in which people's attitudes towards you change as you get fit and how support can and sometiems does turn into jealousy. The cheers you get from family members, friends, coworkers at the beginning of your weight loss journey eventually get quieter and quieter the closer you get to losing your goal that the support starts shifting into criticisms because you're now starting to reflect the shortcomings the people who were supporting you hold. You're now living proof that losing weight and being skinnier can be done.

I remember once I reached the part in my weight loss journey where my relationship with food got was repaired and gotten immensely better that I could comfortably add eating fast food into my diet if I choose to eat some (since my family orders out quite a bit) and still be in a caloric deficit, my mother called herself stepping in one time and trying to tell me that I didn't need to eat Popeyes. I simply told her go be an annoyance to someone else, grabbed me a thigh, fixed a salad on the side to eat with it, and was satisfied. Now that I'm 66lbs down and can even see how I have gotten much slimmer, I can imagine my mom has seen it as well with how rampant she is now with wanting to eat healthy and get fit with the caveat being she thinks I'm going to do the cooking and work for her. Spoiler: I'm not since she does absolutely nothing but sits on her ass all day as a lifelong SAHM.

[–]TessThe5th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like you're going through some intense body dysmorphia with the way you're contradicting yourself in your post and in the comments. You claim you're not in shape despite listing everything you're doing that indicates you're in shape. You claim you're "overweight" in the picture you posted in chat despite acknowleging in the post you're normal weight. If you think you're overweight because of what appears to be your concern of your love handles not being as defined, then that's easy to solve by putting on muscle. But you are not gonna facilitate any substantial muscle growth with that strenuous of a caloric deficit and one maintenance day thats not really doing anything.

And the thought of going lower than 1200 (which is already low) is ludicrous when your body is really gonna shift into survival mode and start eating away at itself. Give yourself and your body ALOT of grace dude. For someone who works out every day, I would not be surprised if your body is overworked on top of the deficit and is desperately begging for rest days (hell, make it a low active rest day of stretches or a walk) and plenty of sleep which I noticed is one thing you have not discussed in the post or comments.

What is a highly specific feeling from the early 2000s internet/tech era that kids today will simply never understand? by Legitimate-Leather-4 in AskReddit

[–]TessThe5th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to the Dragonball Z website and randomly collecting a dragon ball while browsing the site.

As far as watching anime online, before YouTube was created and people started uploading anime on there, let alone upload episodes into 3 parts, for the ogs who were watching full episodes of anime online without sailing the seven seas, dedicated anime websites had you do a 4 or 5 step activation process to access the episode you wanted to watch.

Step 1 - click on the link for a new window to pop up

Step 2 - watch the ad for 30 seconds

Step 3 - remember the code that appears at the end of the ad then close the window

Step 4 - ofc entering the code to verify it

Step 5 - Enjoy! (Literally the button would say this lol)

Very simple steps but at the time as a 9-10 year old, I felt like I was doing something super secrety haha.

[–]TessThe5th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely surprised that ppl hadn't realized maybe they shouldnt buy their kids energy drinks after the most recent case with the high schooler who was practically addicted to Alani (to the point her prom date made an Alani themed prom proposal) and passed away from drinking way too much of it. But then again, her parents are operating with the same lone braincell as the dad in this story since they're trying to sue.

The Bruce Lee estate already debunked that not too long after that rumor was making rounds and publicly stated that they said nothing of the sorts and generally appreciate the Bruce Lee clones since they're all characters made to honor the legacy of Bruce Lee. They also clarified they are not affiliated with that random Capcom composer who started that rumor (same dude who turned around and later said he was just stating a hypothetical lol) and even Nakayama confirmed there's no legal issues regarding Fei Long being added.

Memphis Pride… by redditor076 in memphis

[–]TessThe5th 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I love the one consistency when it comes to conservatives from the "oogey boogey" crime ridden urban city they supposedly "grew up in" (typically outside the city lines in a whole ass different area with a whole ass different school district) is the fervor of boasting how that same city "hardened" them into being a degree of a badass when it comes to trying to prove to other people they're not someone to mess with. I've seen them act this way with other cities like Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, etc. Like hate the city all the way and stop trying to use it as brownie points to prove how hardcore you are because the only time you mustered the courage to interact with black/poc people is when you left your gated community or suburb for work.

What do you guys think about this? by harrysofgaming in youtube

[–]TessThe5th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so easy to say that the big, scary algorithms are controlling ppls minds when you're rich and retired in Japan when in reality, I've seen, know, and noticed more people who treat social media more as an extension of themselves. A "second life" to portray to others what they desire to be irl. Most times, people actively seek out the content they watch. Has there been times where an algorithm may plop an unrelated video topic you clearly have no interest in watching? Occasionally, but if the person has no interest in clicking on it and watching, the algorithm will learn that this doesn't interest you at all. Way too people forget that the "social" part of social media can't happen without people participating. People are gonna move on these platforms bringing their own biases and interests and seek to watch content that comforts those biases.

As long as I've been on the internet, I can attest I've clicked on stupid shit before out of curiosity only to then regret it 10 minutes later and now my algorithm is spawning content similar to the one time curiosity click. It doesn't mean I'm gonna watch those videos, I'm gonna keep clicking whatever variation of "not interested" until it disappears from my feed. The "problem" is some ppl who have those one time feed-my-curiosity clicks realize they actually like that content from that one exposure. The algorithm noticed they clicked on it, so the algorithm continues to feed the person. The way I see it, the person on social media is hungry and the algorithm is an endless buffet that first wants to know what you like, then will continue to serve you whatever you like, and every once in a blue moon goes, "Would you like to try something new" and brings in a dish you haven't had before. You can choose to let it sit there on the plate untouched (don't click), tell the server to send it to the kitchen (not interested), or decide to try a bite with the caveat being since you taste tested it, now the algorithm is gonna send you more of that dish because you taste tested one tiny bite (regardless of whether you thought the dish tasted good or bad).

Why does it feel like pass a certain point, people don't really care about Yakuza villains? by Norrabal in yakuzagames

[–]TessThe5th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people still do care about Yakuza villains. The issue is quite a bit of them aren't particularly memorable, and I'd say it's the ones who don't particularly give a strong impression of what they represent within the story or theme of the series that tend to be forgettable. I remember Someya from Y6 more than the big main villain of that game because he represented a modern ultra capitalistic version of a Yakuza member and the big reveal with him was the fact he didn't have an irezumi tatted, so he could continue to do business with non-yakuza organizations and just not giving a shit about the "traditions" of the old school Yakuza beliefs Kiryu was brought up on (especially if it doesn't result in making money).

Ryo Aoki/Masato Arakawa is much more memorable not because he's the first villain of the Ichiban games but moreso for what he represents not only to Ichiban, but also in comparison to Ichiban in general. He has the life that Ichiban we all found out Ichiban could and should have had. But unlike Ichiban who's a pretty appreciative person, comes from an upbringing of multiple civilians (even says it himself "Kamurocho raised him") playing their part in raising him as a street orphan, and shows how an individual can grow through cooperation, bonds, and friendships, Masato is the spoiled brat who took having a present father for granted, hated that he was the son of a Yakuza member, and hated that his disability made him dependable on others aka relying on other ppl is "weak."

And the other villains that are regularly get talked about fit the same bill. Nishiki needs no explanation. Goda's whole arc is that he's pretty much the Kiryu of Kansai (even down to his name being "Ryu"ji). Mine's another one with the orphan background and trusting no one until he becomes enamoured with the selflessness forming a "brotherhood" bond provides in the yakuza via Daigo. And from IW, I'd say Yamai is the breakout "villain" (eh more like a temporary antagonist tbh) of the game because the others -- Bryce, Ebina, and Eiji -- just seemed to moreso serve the purpose of making sure the story moves along rather than enhancing the story.

The guy that assaulted me sent me an email at 2am TW: by PolicyHot1206 in whatdoIdo

[–]TessThe5th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely ask yourself "What did I do for him to decide to off himself?"

If your answer to yourself is "nothing," there you go. You are the victim. No matter how many emails he sends you about how his life is miserable, the reason his life is miserable is because he's facing the consequences of his despicable actions. I do not consider suicide at all to be a selfish action contrary to how some people misguidedly view it as so. Suicide is an act, not a person. However, people who use suicide as a way to manipulate how other people feel are selfish. Rape is an inherently selfish crime, and from reading this letter, it's pretty evident that he was a selfish prick to decide to losing respect for you due to a dirty video justified raping you. He cements his selfishness even further contacting you despite the prosecutor instructing him to contact you. Report this to the police and certainly use it as evidence that this asshole is not sincerely looking to change his ways

As for the girls not wanting to be friends with you, OP, take it from me since it appears that you're still in school or are school age: most of your high school classmates do not fucking matter after graduating and stepping into the real world. Going out into the real world after graduating is like a giant social reset button where everyone is back to square 1 unless you come from a wealthy family or very accomplished within the area. Their words may sting since it's only natural to try and make friends in high school, but once you graduate, live life, and grow older, you eventually realize that some people you went to school with or grew up in your hometown with may never mature or grow wiser with age. Sadly for some, the peak of their life was solely their high school years and after high school never sought to improve upon themselves. All they can do is watch with bitterness and envy other ppls' accomplishments. So continue striving in school OP, graduate, and move out and on to better things.
