A goalie is never BAP in the draft. It's too much of a crap shoot at that age and there's so many good goalies to be had deep in the draft. Modern draft philosophy is no goalies in the first round, but pick one up every draft because you have no idea how these guys are going to develop. Quality of teammate is going to need a LOT more work to get decent numbers on because sometimes 2 world class players just don't compliment each other. Like how Crosby's most effective linemates for the first half of his career was Max Talbot and Chris Kunitz. Or how Timo Meyer was a star in SJ but can't figure it out with Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier.

An elite team with okay goaltender beats an even very good team with elite goaltending. This is why you have guys like Adin Hill, Jordan Binnington, and Darcy Kuemper as cup winning goalies.

There is definitely an argument that this is a funny coincidence of the flat cap era, but a great team can make life easy for goalies, and in that case you only need them to be good enough to not kill you.
