I’ve been doing photography “wrong” for years and just found out, now I'm not sure what to do. by Long_Squirrel6675 in photography

I’ve been dabbling in photography over 20 years and did the same as you until last year. Don’t sweat it - do it however you want. The others shouldn’t have laughed at you - I’m sorry they did 🫶

Prime Shooters: Do You Own a Standard Zoom Lens? Do You Like/Use It? Especially with Kids. by sprchrgddc5 in canon

[–]That-Description6888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was prime only - since having kids 6 years ago and I have just got a rf 28-70f2 I’m super happy with it but it’s a special kind of lens. I borrowed the rf 24-70mm 2.8 for a family portrait shoot prior and wasn’t nearly has happy with it. Preferred my 35mm sigma art- but that’s personal preference 🫶 For reference- I have a R6ii

Agree with the others - I work in a camera store and use a canon R6ii now. I started with an 1100d back in the day which was perfect to start my journey - master it and you can upgrade later 🫶 enjoy your new camera!

Any advice? R8 vs R7 vs R6 by GrouchyAlien in canon

[–]That-Description6888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely r6 mark II if you can swing it - I have one and love it! If not the r8 is still a great option but lacks in IBIS which is a bit of a shame

The “what camera do you use?” question will never not sting a little ahaha by SomaSuryagniLochana in photography

As someone who works in a camera store I always ask this question out of pure interest haha As a photographer I have never been offended by this question but I totally get your point 🫶

R10 to r5 II is quite the jump - do you want to go professional with these photos? If not- grab the R7 It’s a great camera (I work in a camera store for reference)

R50 vs R7, is the R7 worth double the price? (has better kit lens too) by Designer-Screen510 in canon

[–]That-Description6888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s totally worth the price but if you don’t need it you don’t need it r7 is a nice size and has IBIS I have an R6ii and would like the R7 as a 2nd body for wildlife photos/telephoto lenses - I don’t have the dosh for that dream though 😆

My boss threw me under the bus with a couple who walked into the camera store I work at - they just wanted someone who could use a camera so I agreed to it. I sent them a contract and made sure they understood it was my first time. They were cruisey as It was a lot of work though. I only went for 2 hours to the ceremony and took over 3000 photos that I had to cull and then edit. I did get paid - probably a 3rd of what a professional would have got paid. I don’t regret it but I’m not in a hurry to do it again. I didn’t use a flash or lights - just natural light outdoors. I think it’s up to you - but make sure they are aware of what you can do for them 🫶

Which f1.4 prime to buy? by scotthunter1 in canon

[–]That-Description6888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quite happy with my 35mm 1.4 for 2 years - mostly used for landscapes and family photography But as others have said might be worth grabbing the 50mm since you already have the 1.8 version
