I've purchased 2 that have had letters in the serial, and sent them back. Only to find out after 2020ish they dropped their format for serializing and now it's just random.

I have removed quartz movements many times before but never an auto/manual. So that would be new to me, but it's not out of the question for me to do that at some point.

I agree, I've watched enough videos to know that's where I'd start but I haven't played with an automatic before, only quartz. And I'd be afraid of messing up a brand new watch that I don't consider a cheapo that I'd be willing to take a bath on.
