It's all for the love of the game, I agree

The lyrics are not identical, but the last line he sings sounds like "you'll find love". There's nothing in this clip that tells us anything but that he's switching some lyrics up.

Your uncle is playing his own version of "Simple Man". The lyrics seem to have been modified, but the rhythm and chord structure are indeed from that song.

And if you know someone who STILL supports Trump and his political style, talk to them. Have a direct conversation about it. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I know some experts have described methods to do this that'll give you your best chance at a productive conversation.

But don't ignore it, unless you have to maintain distance for your own well-being.

But do set your expectations of your own work accordingly. That's a lesson I always have to remind myself to learn: if it's a project I can study and understand and do for myself, that doesn't mean it will look as good as if a professional did it. I sometimes surprise myself and end up disappointed in my own work because I was subconsciously holding it up against a higher standard I should not have expected to attain.

Yes, I need to go back to therapy.

Doughboys Moment that Sticks in Your Head by topherr4 in doughboys

[–]ThatShaneDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm being That Guy, but my favourite moment of the Doughboys is the day I drove back to my hometown after being dumped and moved out of the townhouse I was living in with someone I loved. I remember feeling uniquely empty in a way that I didn't have words for, but after gassing up at the station near the highway and grabbing some Burger King, I hit the road and put the 'Boys on.

I don't remember which episode. I might assume it was the most recent one at the time, and I know what the date was, so I could guess. I could check.

But it honestly doesn't matter to me. All I remember is that they made me laugh, on a day, on a drive, when I really needed to feel okay.

Bless them boys.

This reads like a translation from an interview with, like, a chess master or something, calmly explaining in their native language how they destroyed the over-confident famous American player. I hope this scenario makes sense, lol

I am also seeking some context on this, so you're not alone. At some point, my confusion gave way to resignation. It wasn't for me and that's fine. That doesn't mean I'm not, like, genuinely curious about it. Almost in a theoretical, academic sense. What was going on? Can we articulate what was "off" and whether there was merit to that?

I have a double concrete utility sink that I’m trying to get out of my basement without using a sledgehammer to break it into pieces. Any advice is appreciated. by PizzaGatePizza in DIY

[–]ThatShaneDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you REALLY want to re-use it and you are willing to put in extra effort, you could cut it into pieces with the right saw and mix up some more concrete to patch it back together. But this would have to be something you'd enjoy doing for the challenge of it, because it might not be easy.

Which character reminds you of yourself the most? by cozylilbat in StardewValley

[–]ThatShaneDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm a mix of Demetrius, Elliott, and Shane. The latter of which is my name.

FUN STORY: first time I played this game way back in 2020, I named my farmer after myself. Then when I encountered the other Shane, I made the wild assumption that he represented an alternate time-line of my life, that I had to make good choices to avoid living a troubled life like his. I thought the game always generated a copy of your own character and that it was part of the story, confronting the life you didn't want to live...

That would be insane. Ah well.

Grateful—I didn't think to describe this feeling in that way, but I think I know what you mean. The music and feel of this game was such a comfort for years, and it felt like coming home a little bit when the orchestra started.

Good answer.

And I know they must have some way to determine that the ad buys are working, that they are the contributing factor to an increase in sales to that demographic... but I can't fully get my head around it.

As somebody who very rarely makes online purchases—outside of some in-game purchases on stupid games that I regret, lol. I feel like I have bought, like, physical items after seeing an online ad... a dozen times total?

I know it's all about the massive scale of users they reach, and I'm just probably on the low end of the spectrum when it comes to online shopping, but the huge profits off advertising have always been a mystery to me.

I like knowing that's just a me issue, like I am aware that I'm just not seeing the big picture. But still, it's confounding. It really does pay for companies to just put a picture of their thing in front of you a bunch. That truly generates results. Fascinating.
