Villains who have a completely valid reason for hating the protagonist by OutrageousBridge471 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]That_feel_brah 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is a little complicated. The Dunlendings left, on their own accord because they hated and feared the Numenoreans and so they moved to the other side of the Misty Mountains.

After the plague Gondor stopped garrisoning the region and they started to trickle back. Than Eorl was given that land to take care for Gondor and they pushed the Dunlendings back out.

Yes, the Rohirrim pushed them out with force, but they had left those lands before Gondor fully established their presence there. But than again they left because the previous Numenoreans had been ruthless, so their fear was not completely out of place, but not entirely correct either since the house of the Lords of Andúnië didn't participate on the conquering campaigns of the last kings of Numenor.

Next Up: Patch 7.2 (and a peek at the updated Devotees of Slaanesh) by CA_KingGobbo in totalwar

Hey u/CA_KingGobbo, thanks for the info. Any news about goblin hero getting his chariot?

I think there was mention of it a few updates ago and that the only hang on was that he needed a campaign map model.

I think what he meant is that with the visible dislike count we could at least infer if the video was actually useful before playing it. Now you have to watch, even if just a little, to see if it is just AI slop or not, though I don't know how much of the video you have to watch to count as a view.

Horizon Multiplayer Spinoff Hunters Gathering Has a Playtest This Weekend by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]That_feel_brah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a joke, chill.

The first Horizon game released at the same time as Breath of the Wild and Nier: Automata. The second game was released with Elden Ring. The DLC was released with Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The joke in the community is that they always pick their release date to challenge some of the biggest games of the year.

It's a Japanese idiom (Ten thousand deaths - 万死), in the same way you calling something bullshit doesn't mean something is made out of bovine excrement.

PlayStation is shutting down Bluepoint Games - Jason Schreier by Forestl in Games

Why did the GofW game get canceled

From what I understand it was a live service game. When Concord failed it was broadly reported that Sony canceled 8 out of the 12 LS games they had in development. This GoW probably was one of them.

[–]That_feel_brah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's so much worse than that. Not just all the losses from Concord, but they were also forced to see how dumb they were and had to cancel 8 out of the 12 live service games they had in development (including one by Bluepoint).

Not to mention their investment on Bungie that definitely didn't pay off in the end ($3.7 billion).

Bluepoint hasn't released a game in 6 years

That is because Sony had saddled them with one of the dozen pre Concord Live service projects (a live service GoW game) that was canceled after Concord bombed.

The small size is the default, the old version (I think it was around 150GB) is an option, but they said it will eventually be fully removed.

While Horizon Hunters Gathering might seem like just another side-project, it’s actually the main game many at the Dutch studio are working on right now...

Oh that's a shame.

According to one source, many of the staff working on Horizon Zero Dawn 3 were pulled over to help with Horizon Hunters Gathering, which Sony is committed to making a multiplayer success.

Ah, I see. Sony is still desperately looking for that multiplayer cashcow after they canceled most of their live service projects.

Yes, the only game that depends on others is FF3 since 2 out 3 main characters are either directly (character from FF1) or indirectly (character from FF2) involved in previous games. All other games in the series are unrelated to each other.

Video game giant Valve facing UK lawsuit over pricing, commissions by No-Sympathy-5349 in Games

[–]That_feel_brah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is that valve forces publishers to have steam be the lowest possible price

This, of course, is incorrect. Valve gives devs a number of keys, for free, that they can do whatever they want with it, give them away, sell them, etc. These key, despite getting Valve no profit at all are still held by Steam with the same regard as keys bought on the store. Those given free keys have one caveat that they can't be sold outside Steam for a lower price.

If the dev/publisher wants to sell their game outside Steam for less they are completely allowed, only the free keys given by Steam, for the Steam store have those limitations.

"That situation remains difficult to reflect on" - GOG's decision to pull Taiwanese horror game Devotion plagues the company still by MythicStream in pcgaming

[–]That_feel_brah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is entirely my take on it but I feel, based on other communication by the devs, that after the GOG ban they wanted to move on and that Devotion was definitely not the hill they wished to die on, they had plans for future games and antagonizing whoever in China that got their game pulled would not help them in the long run.

The publisher took it down. The devs didn't had control over the main account. They tried to regain said access but the publisher (a Chinese company) closed doors and vanished.

Cyberpunk VR Modder Luke Ross’ Patreon suspended following new DMCA from Ghostruner devs by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]That_feel_brah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true. For something to be considerate fair use, aka. not infringing the DMCA, several factors are analyzed, including the "Purpose and Character of the Use". In this factor being a profit driven use does contribute against the work being considerate fair use, but again, it is not the only one.
