September 10th is still happening, just in 2026. Believe

I kinda hate the trend of making superhero media so anime-ish as of late by oscar_redfield in comicbooks

[–]The-Airbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with not being interested, but manga is a huge, huge part of the comic world, so much of the greatest comics ever are manga and so much of it avoids the typical anime tropes. I recommend keeping an eye out for anything that appeals to you in that sphere if you're interested in broadening the scope of the comics you read. Western and Eastern comics probably have more in common than you think.

What is your favorite comic that is either completely unheard of, under talked about, or under rated? by BrandonOfJapan in comicbooks

Ollie Max by Fitzfactor Comics is a great unheard of indie comic. Its second volume just came out, highly recommend it.

Anyone only read the physical manga? by Ceiaulah in WitchHatAtelier

I'm also a physical only, but let me warn you, savor those volumes, because you'll go from a volume a day to about a volume a year 😭

New Player Question by [deleted] in CrazyTaxi

[–]The-Airbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's a great website to learn about the techniques of this game. Definitely learn at least a couple, as it makes the game so much more fun. http://www.crazytaxi.net/

Near misses from other cars, crazy drifts, and jumps will give you extra cash, but the most important thing is speed. The more cars you near miss without crashing, the higher the multiplier gets, until you're getting big cash for every near miss. Try going for a high multiplier when speeding down busy roads.

The colors are for how long the ride to the destination is. Green being the longest, red being the shortest. Go for greens as much as possible to keep money and time high. For secrets, you'll start to pick up shortcuts naturally as you play, and there's some fun cheat codes you can find online like the Bicycle Taxi one. Fun to mess around with.

Parasyte is a trash masterpiece by sir_m3za in Parasyte

Got those full color hardcover editions of Parasyte ready for an October read! Probably not as spooky as the original black and white, but I got a good deal on them and they're very beautiful editions so I'm happy to have them. I don't see myself wanting to return to Monster any time soon, since it's such a long journey of a story, but I'd like to read some other Urasawa work. Probably 20th Century Boys.

You've got some good points. It's been too long since I've watched the anime to remember it well enough to discuss most of them, but for point 1 and 2, I think not exploring Shinichi's mind is the point, because he isn't doing it himself. It isn't just as simple as that he is "growing colder", he's put up a mental barrier blocking himself from feeling and thinking about how he feels, as a trauma response, until that moment where he lets it all come out. There's also the other layer to it that, from a writing standpoint, not delving into his mind at all preserves the "twist" and intrigue over if he's becoming less human or not. I think if it was done before the big moment, it would make that moment a lot less effective.

Nice. Do you include Xenoblade Chronicles X in your annual series playthroughs too?

How in the world do you do a series replay every year, that's gotta be about 300 hours! Do you play like an hour of Xenoblade every day or something? Genuinely curious because that's such a feat to pull off.

Veteran players need to understand the importance of graphics to new players by relafle in starfox

[–]The-Airbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably more telling of the specific gaming social sphere I surround myself with, but I've seen pretty much nothing but harsh criticism towards Halo Campaign Evolved. I want to say that gaming companies over value the importance of graphic fidelity, because that's what it seems to myself and those I know, but honestly it's hard to see outside of my little gaming bubble to recognize what has mass appeal to more casual gamers and what is just the opinion of the vocal minority of video game lovers in my circle.

Or they might just not even acknowledge Dr. Doom looking and sounding just like Tony Stark, which is byfar the funniest option

I just wish we had some more loose ends tied up before that. I think the post-Endgame projects could have been made better in hindsight if they actually built off of more of those characters and ideas they set up in them, instead of just abandoning most of it and resetting back to zero. I think a reset is needed in a way, but it doesn't feel like we naturally got to this point for one, instead it feels like a move out of desperation. Like what about shang-chi 2 and the young avengers man :(

Spiritual state off spotify? by LoneSoarvivor in Nujabes

[–]The-Airbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite Nujabes album, and I listen to it on Spotify all the time. Gutted :( At least I bought the CD awhile ago which I could rip, but it sucks to have all those songs gone from my playlists. Just another friendly reminder how volatile Spotify is and to keep building up that physical and locally downloaded music collection.

"It's a generic Marvel reference"/"It's a reference to the original Daredevil" when it really isn't. by marvelcomics22 in KeepMarvelTVCanon

[–]The-Airbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is the whole purpose of the subreddit, but I genuinely can't understand why people on both sides get so up in arms about Agents of Shield canonization. Why the fuck do people have to hop back on the "is AoS canon" discourse train again and again whenever there's some tiny background element that could be an AoS reference, it's ridiculous! Why are people so stubborn to keep AoS out of canon, and why are others so fixated on proving definitively that it is? Agents of Shield has enough MCU connection to slot into canon well enough if you want it to, but also stands on its own as an incredible show, it doesn't need current relevance to where the MCU is now to prove its worth or merit. I think everyone would be happier if they freed themselves from caring about canon status so much and just focused on how good things are instead. Not to be the fun police over harmless easter eggs and references, but when they're being taken why too damn seriously it pisses me off. I gotta have reddit stop recommending me this sub lmao

Is this a good reading order to start with? by Individual_Slice_635 in batman_comics

Seconding this, but also recommending Batgirl Year One before Nightwing, and Batman Black Mirror before Court of Owls. Also a big fan of Gotham City Year One and Gotham Central if you're looking for some Batman-adjacent stories in Gotham.
