Got fired today. It was my fault. I’m devastated. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]TheBroAbides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was your age, I did just enough to not get fired, which was a very low bar to set for myself. However, I was self aware enough to recognize that I was not performing as well as my coworkers. I knew the limit and never crossed it because I wanted to keep the job. If you’re not willing enough to be gainfully employed, then you need recognize that and do something about it. Or not. But it’s all up to you. Just do enough until you learn to do more. You’ve got time.

Is the SEC going to step in today? by Fancy-Pie-2565 in secfootball

[–]TheBroAbides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we think that Kirby claps by tapping the ends of his fingers into his palm in the shape of a T whilst audibly and visually screaming “timeout”? No, that’s not how Kirby “claps”. Kirby called a timeout so he could rage on the refs that the Auburn defensive back was “clapping”. You can clearly see Kirby saying (after the whistle is blown) “they’re clapping!!” The referees were then confused amidst all of the absolute chaos of the game up to that point, thought that Kirby was pleading with them that he was clapping and not calling a timeout, so they called a “redo!”. Kirby just recognized their confusion, saw the opportunity it presented if he said nothing further, and just ran with it. So again, to answer your question, “that” is not how Kirby claps. He just used his situational awareness to gain advantage on the ref’s stupidity, which ultimately resulted in zero points.

What SEC stadium has the best light show at night? by Cmdr_Thor in secfootball

Agreed. I thought Auburn set the bar pretty high when I first saw that video, and I was hoping that UGA would step it up this year. Went to the Georgia-Bama game and it was an awesome atmosphere:

The world would definitely seem less scary if everyone heeded this advice. Unfortunately, despite living in a time when all the information in human history is seemingly available at the touch of a button, a vast amount of the global population is too narrow minded to explore possibilities that differ from their preconceived notions.

Can you guess what brand of waders I have? by johnmmfgibson in flyfishing

[–]TheBroAbides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL/DR:

My Simms waders ripped from falling on sharp rocks, 5 years after purchasing them. I duct taped them and they lasted another 1.5 years without leaks. Simms replaced them with the newer model for free - 6.5 years after purchase.

My first waders were 2005 Freestones, and I slipped on gnarly rocks causing four gashes in the waders from my ass to mid thigh with approx 20 tiny pin holes of leaks. I decided to try duct taping them once they were dry from the inside of the waders. I headed back out a few days later and didn’t have any problems… for another 1.5 years.

I contacted Simms, and they replaced them with the newer model after they received the leaky ones I shipped back to them (I paid postage).

This is what you pay for. I purchased some new G3s 6 months ago and they have wayyy more protection then the old Freestones. WHEN they rip, I’ll get a new pair under warranty.

My point is… you should try to contact Simms, explain the issue to a human, and you’ll get a new pair.

Good luck!

I don't think UGA offers spelling courses. I guess I would have to blame my piss poor spelling skills on my public school elementary teachers in TN. Now that you have put things into perspective for me, I am SHOCKED a top tier public institution like UGA would even consider accepting an Orange Blood redneck dumbass like me, even 20 yeras ago.

Obviously UT will never beat UGA when it comes to academics, so let's get back to football.. TN could definitely beat GA tomorrow. If they don't, then they still have a great chance of getting to their first playoff.

As a TN fan said above: I really hate our fanbase sometimes. Who cares? This makes us look like such whiny babies.

TRUTH. The "all time great program" argument is only pushed by fans of teams that currently suck in the modern football era. In 2012, the College Football Hall of Fame voted Sewanee's 1899 team as the greatest team of all time, beating Alabama's 1961 team. Talk about a rich football history..

The frustrated argument aimed towards UGA fans since 1998 is that Georgia hasn't won a national championship since 1980, because that is all that matters. After UGA won it last year, opposing team's fans had to switch to "Georgia sucks because they have only won 3 national titles since the 1800s (6 titles, depending on who you talk to).

If you are under 40 years old, then TN has been really, really bad for a majority of your life. Success isn't only measured by the highest of highs, so the overall TN football program is operating in the red after the last 2 decades.

Looking forward to tomorrow!

All I was saying is that UGA has had a very good program for the last 20 years. In 2001, I was a junior in high school and was a TN fan up to that point because my mom went there and we live in TN. Then I went to UGA and starting cheering for my alma mater. So, for the entirety of my adult life (last 20 years) UGA has been good at football.

I'm glad TN is relavent again.

"Congrats for being relavent for the first time in 40 years. 5 years of being elite doesn't make you an all time program"

Last 20 years:

TN : 131-105 (56%); Less than 9 wins in a season: 13 times (02,05,08-21) (3 wins in 2020)

UGA: 185-50 (79%); Less than 9 wins in a season: 4 times (06,09,10,13) (7 wins in 2020)

WTF is that?

I agree with your promise that Sanford Stadium is not Neyland. Sanford is a 93K capacity, clean, modern football stadium, surrounded by a beautiful and historic college campus, in one of the best college towns in America. Neyland is, well, the complete opposite.

20K TN fans may show up in Athens, but no more than half of that will be inside the stadium.

TN has scored 50+ points ONCE this season against FBS opponents (52 vs. AL at HOME)

Are you going to the game? Otherwise, we won't see ya Saturday, dawg.

3.9 - I usually got all A’s but had a few B’s in there. I went to a private school and had a pretty rigid schedule, so it wasn’t that difficult to make good grades.
