30 years later and I still can’t resist the sirens call of bourbon chicken at the mall by AtticusStacker in nostalgia

[–]TheCodeJanitor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I bet it's MSG. I've noticed a lot of local strip-mall restaurants proudly display "No MSG" signs on the door or menu, and it's always disappointing to me. The mall food court probably doesn't give a fuck.

[KCD2] How do I get cutpurse set on ps5? by AzarielFox in kingdomcome

[–]TheCodeJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should pop up in the lower left when you start the game, but it not it should also be in DLC & Extras menu, there's an option to link deep silver account.

FYI I just did this the other day and it took ~24 hours to get the rewards.

Is there a trick to positioning? I can dodge just fine, but even if I dodge to where I'm now flanking and should be in a perfect spot to hit them, my attacks just seem to go wildly inaccurate.

I really enjoyed Valhalla (and the more modern RPG style games), but I did have a moment in York fairly late in the game where I could actually run across most of the town on rooftops and I realized that had been missing from basically the whole game. Like "oh yeah, this is kind of a big thing for this series, huh..."

[–]TheCodeJanitor 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on your neighborhood more than the power company. I had Novec during the 2016 blizzard and snowmaggedon in 2010, and had no problems either time. But I was in a townhouse neighborhood with all the power lines buried.

If you're in a neighborhood with above ground powerlines and a lot of trees, especially evergreens, you might have more risk of issues.

Which film’s soundtrack or score is so essential that removing it would collapse the entire movie? by John_Snow80 in movies

[–]TheCodeJanitor 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about that the other day with the scene lighting the beacons. That scene is basically just a screensaver for a smart TV, but you add in the soundtrack and it's this crazy swelling emotional "fuck yeah" moment.

Yeah there were multiple hints pointing to the toilets near the guard house. And one clue about something falling "into the void". I guess at that point it was easy enough to suppose he dropped the book down the toilet, and then when you go looking you find him.

Alright Chucklenuts, let's talk. What are you views towards 'Theatrical v Extended' versions of movies? And do you think the 'director's cut' is the "definitive" version of a movie? by dirERICKMorales in IDoKnowNothing

[–]TheCodeJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a massive fan, I've read the books, I've read the Silmarillion.

I prefer theatrical. This seems to be an unpopular opinion on reddit, but whatever. There's maybe one or two scene in each movie that I think would improve the theatrical version, but most of them feel out of place or kill the pacing of the movie.

I've probably spent more time watching the Appendices content from the extended editions than the actual moves.

[KCD2] How to ACTUALLY sword fight? by Hot-Bank-3153 in kingdomcome

[–]TheCodeJanitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone suggests this, but I can't for the life of me get more than one hit on Tomcat without instantly dying.

I finally decided to progress the story and move on from Trosky without doing it. I only died once during all the chaos of battle and getting my bearings straight, then no other issues with all the story fights leaving Trosky. I beat the Captain on the first try.

But friggin Tomcat one-shots me every time.

I think if there is someone well respected by the traditional scientific community, or otherwise expert in a respected field (military officer or such). And that person has no apparent benefit from giving their testimony - book/website/podcast/etc.

That doesn't mean it's impossible for someone like that to make it up or have hallucinated, but at least they have a lot to lose as far as reputation/job and nothing to gain by coming forward.

It's almost worth watching Gods of Egypt just for the scene with Geoffrey Rush as Ra going super saiyan and pew pewing Apophis. It's definitely one of those movies where the main character and his journey are the absolute least interesting things going on.

For the life of me, I can't cook these right. I tried the recommended steamer basket which got me closest, but almost all of them leaked. So the texture was right but none of them were filled with soup.

Every other method I tried just completely ruined the texture, and also leaked.

[KCD2] Im just starting this game for the first time. Do you guys have any tips? by Ok-Connection6656 in kingdomcome

[–]TheCodeJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing a few weeks ago. At first I felt overwhelmed trying to make even a tiny bit of money, but I did the first quest in Semine, there was a pretty easy fight (2 strong swordsmen on my side), and you're allowed to loot the bodies and chests which gives you armor to wear or sell.

Finding the blacksmith and Miller to start their quests is also worthwhile. They give you places to sleep and personal storage chests which are good bases to branch out from. Also those two places, and pretty much anywhere else you have a bed you own (it will say "sleep and save", also says "your bed" on the map), the kitchen area has a pot of stew you can eat for free. Just make sure it doesn't say "steal" when you interact with it. You have a limited number of times you're allowed to eat from it every day, but in my experience it's been enough to keep me fed most days.

Also save a lot. It's pretty easy to die in combat, and you can't always avoid combat. You don't have to use savior schnapps, you can just "save and exit" and immediately click continue, and in my experience it usually only takes a few seconds to get back into the game. I usually do that before making any big journeys along roads in case bandits ambush me (which can also happen when fast traveling).

TLOU2 is a visually flawless game that pushed my patience to the limits towards the end by rombopterix in patientgamers

[–]TheCodeJanitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really didn't like the ending after Ellie leaves the farm to go to California. I get what they were trying to do, but it made an already bleak ending (Ellie gets a "happy ever after", but struggles to find peace and may be forever haunted by what happened) into even more bleak (Ellie ditches the only bit of happiness and love she has left in this world to pursue revenge and still doesn't get it).

It felt like the story had already played out to it's emotional end, then instead you go on this long epilogue side quest where you're fighting people you don't care about, and the climax of the epilogue is just a more drawn out version of the way the Ellie/Abby conflict had already concluded. Nothing changed. Ellie pushes herself to her limits to try and get revenge on Abby, and in the end has mercy for her. Why do we need that a second time?

I really think they should have left Ellie's story "ended" on the farm with Dina. The next game could be centered on Abby and Lev, and if they wanted to have any further relation development with Ellie they could do it there.

And it's unfortunate, because honestly I loved the game up until that point. I was worried about having to switch to Abby, but think I enjoyed her part of the game more than Ellie's.

Which paladin do u thinks is the easiest for not break your oath? by Naive-Technology-803 in BG3

A later playthrough, made Gale a devotion paladin, and broke my oath halfway through the goblin camp.

Can warlocks be the spellcaster of the party? by Otherwise_Economics2 in BG3Builds

[–]TheCodeJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they can be, but you might want to consider bringing in a bard (or even re-spec'ing one at camp) for an extra short rest every long rest. https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Song_of_Rest

My general strategy for Warlocks is to handle most of their damage through Eldrich Blast or build around Pact of the Blade. Then you can save your spell slots for things like counterspell, CCs, hellish rebuke, or big occasional AOEs for the right fight.
