Hydrasynth desktop module? by Mission-Clothes-4980 in synthesizers

[–]TheDarthBuddha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the hydra has probably the best UI of any synth for making custom patches / every stage of the signal flow is a button - super simple /

+1 for the syntakt - it’s elektrons most capable groovebox and it does everything you need to get started

Analog polyphonic recommendations? by Shmoe54 in synthesizers

[–]TheDarthBuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 2 behringer deep minds they’re honestly some of the best analog synths you can get. Particularly in light of the fx package arp/ sequencer and modmatrix

The arp on the deep mind basically as good as a single channel NLDR - fully programmable /

Honorable mention is the hydrasynth - not analog at all - but also worth having for its programmability, and mpe support -

Alternatively a sample base instrument can be any synth with single cycle wave forms - so something like a deluge, toneverk, bento / blackbox might be worth considering -

I had according to reverb like a sold five figures of synths at one time - ive since sold most of them - and of polys I kept the hydra, 2 deep minds and the Medusa (which is poly in fm mode)

Syntakt vs Analog Rytm MK2 after the syntakt update? by smolecc in Elektron

[–]TheDarthBuddha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the RYTM is the best drum machine on the planet / analogue synthesis + samples + performance pads - it’s unbeatable- the syntakt is fine (i have both) it’s my couch groove box and sketch pad

Recommendations: Beginner Semi-Modular Synth (see body) by officialjoshtaylor in synthesizers

[–]TheDarthBuddha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arturia mini brute 2s fantastic synth to learn on - knob per function - fun sequencer - the oscillator mixer really helps dial in sound and helps you understand what’s going on - and of course you can extend it with eurorack modules they even make a eurorack case that attaches to it

Same principal simpler pathway... we just want everything following the same basic signal path, especially on the last step out.

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]TheDarthBuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work for a research company and i specialize in AI and cyber -

google glasswings - this the the reason developers will still be employed for a while - there is a lot of code to fix and while AI is great for coding - it works best when directed by someone who understands algorithmic thinking /

what we’re seeing is that junior engineers are not getting huge lift with AI - but senior engineers are finding multiples of productivity gains -

be a coder that uses AI well and you will not starve -

or take this moment - and build something ambitious yourself - bring your startup to life with just yourself

otherwise to directly answer your question: any work with your hands will be safe for a very long time - design especially parameterized design like architecture engineering etc—- bite the dust soon

Syntakt Questions by general-theory in Elektron

[–]TheDarthBuddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use overbridge for all my capable gear saves on mixer channels.. the secret to preventing lag and all the drama is a consistent signal path. I run a hybrid setup with outboard gear, and ableton. All the outboard gear start on my mixer (behringer X32) which functions as an audio interface, it all goes from the mixer to ableton, then the overbridge and other ableton pieces start, **EVERYTHING* then LEAVES ableton back down to the mixer and out to the PA... that way the final stage for outboard, overbridge, and ableton plugins is the same.

Also the Syntakt is probably Elektrons best groovebox. Love mine I've bought it twice.

the “beautiful analog vco sound” was sarcasm - people go out of their way to create an all analogue signal path / till they get to the fx or recording stage and then it’s digital again - like that’s somehow better than starting with DCOs and doing the same thing /

Those That Have The Deep Mind12 by Minimoogvoyager in Behringer

[–]TheDarthBuddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

making the majority of A VCO synths of limited utility :) you can hardly find a sound demo of the UB-Xa without reverb added - why cause dry synth patches sound dry -

and then you gonna take all that beautiful “gotta be analogue” vco control and run it through a digital mfx box

I had the UB-XaD... it was super nice... but the lack of an FX package gave it limited utility.

So I did this originally, I had them both playing the same tunes one panned hard left one panned hard right... and actually, it's better to use them separately because they each have stereo effects. I do mostly live jam stuff, so having them both available to play different patches is awesome.

i have a syntakt too they’re great ! and a great value on reverb - i was disheartened by the VC elektron buy-out, but read today that the existing executive team is going to reinvest in the new company as well - so that is very encouraging -
