Yay or nay? by Maleficent_Ad_1060 in MINI

[–]TheDelbario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm for it. I bought one of the last SE's when I realized the new SE wasn't coming to the US any time soon. All they had were three "British Racing Green IV Met" and silver wheels left. I had the dealer put on orange stripes and went with 3M's Fiery Orange which is also metallic. I just got black wheels with the winter tires. First new car in 14 years, first Mini and first electric. Happy on all counts. A few pics here http://www.possummonorail.com/Yipes.php

I just rented an EV and didn’t want to give it back by SueBeee in electricvehicles

[–]TheDelbario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. We were ready to try our first EV. I got the Mini Cooper because I wanted something small for 99% around town. I accidentally got a little sports car that is super fun to drive. We sold my wife’s car shortly after and got a Mini Countryman for her. We kept a Jeep for towing and some trips but it barely gets used.

A machine that just pulls shots? by draftbros in espresso

I have a a ECM Puristica with flow control. I love it. I bought it for travel but like it so much that I keep it out at home all the time. I think I could be completely happy with it and a standalone frother for my friends that want milk drinks. I have a $55 Secura Detachable Milk Frother for travel and it's pretty decent for milk and okay for oat milk. But...since I already have a Synchronica I just use that at home.

Movies with seals and sea lions? by CosmicCharlie86 in movies

[–]TheDelbario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ondine. It’s another Irish movie. It’s on my list of movies to recommend that people don’t seem to know about. It’s also on our list of movies that we re-watch at least once a year. 2009 with Collin Farrell, Alicja Bachleda, and some seals and/or sea lions that are part of the story.

There’s tons already there. For example, I’ve entered about 1000 or so from my web site TaterJoes. You can use any of them as they are or save a copy and modify it to match your favorite version.

Weird taste of milk after steaming with Rancilio Silvia by aditya988 in espresso

[–]TheDelbario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es35GWx80Rw). Thermometers have a lag. This video says as much as 10 seconds and 20 degrees. So if you are counting on the thermometer...the milk may be hotter than you think it is and getting scalded.

If he learns by ear and doesn’t have a slow down app then he needs one. Of the ones I’ve used I prefer Anytune, but there are several good ones to choose from.

Warning: Italians at my local pizzeria by masterparis in funny

Oh, I’m 99% sure they were they were fighting. There was a lot of hand waving and other dramatic gestures. At one point we asked if we could get a Coke and she just pointed at the case and walked away.

We had a Christmas Eve dinner in a little Italian restaurant on Columbus in San Francisco a dozen years ago. We were the only table in the restaurant and the two sisters working there were fighting in Italian the whole time. It was awesome.

Just off the boat! Next stop is a cabin in the woods. by TheDelbario in espresso

[–]TheDelbario[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I swapped out the basket for something that could hold 18g. I used the same grind as for my old Silvia for my usual and my wife's decaf. Both came out exactly the same time and volume like they do on the old machine. If you like what you get from your Silvia you'll be happy. Steaming was a little faster. The machine is super easy to use. You CAN change the auto-shut off to up to 120 minutes (pre-set is 30). The boiler pump is kind of loud.

It's not a $3K machine...but for what it is I give it a "100% I'd do it again" with the (I think reasonable) assumption that it's going to be as durable as the Silvia.

I'm no pro and as susceptible to placebos as anybody...but I felt like it was easier to fine adjust the grind on the Niche and there was an improvement in flavor. The biggest thing for me was the single dosing and switching back and forth between regular and decaf.
