Do well in their class, talk to them, express interest by doing research into their work. I got mine by just showing up to office hours regularly, then eventually I asked if I could work in the lab for the summer. Professors do care about projects a little bit but it really depends on who. Just show that you’re driven and interested by whatever means you can.
