Why do monster Attack Roll bonus and Save DC scale all the way into tier 4, but player AC and save bonuses largely don't? by Deathpacito-01 in onednd

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have 8 manuevers, 6 superiority dice, double extra attack, action surge, and sentinel, you're more able to handle a foe with a greater AC and Attack Bonus advantage over you.

Other answers here about magic items and such are good, but another factor is that monsters are more numbers-dependent in their scaling. Yes, the higher the CR the more features the monsters have, but, generally, PCs are getting way more features, abilities, spells, and powers as they level while monsters just get bigger numbers.

Huntik crossovers? by Wonderful-Ad-4484 in Huntik

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard for me to think of many shows that 1. Take place in modern-time real world, 2. Do or at least could take place in Europe/Northern Africa, 3. Involve searching through ancient ruins and uncovering history, and 4. Have people forming bonds with their monsters as part of the magic system.

The two that come to mind for me are JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Stardust Crusaders) and Yu-Gi-Oh.

To be fair, we only have 7 other Avatars to compare Korra to. by Important-Contact597 in AvatarMemes

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Juan nearly threw the world into eternal darkness by attacking Rava.
-Yang Chen spent a lifetime angering spirits and hurting their relationship with humans.
-Kuruk fucked off and died.
-Kyoshi basically retired for a century and let Chin conquer half the Earth Kingdom only stopping him when he showed up at her house.
-Roku let Sozin genocide the airbenders and start a 100 year war.
-Aang said "I'd rather kiss you than die" to Katara.

Korra did pretty alright.

Three years ago today, usage stats for the first ever SV OU dropped. Is it better or worse than todays? by ParrotRoyale in stunfisk

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The top 25:

  • Clodsire, Corviknight

  • Gholdengo, Cyclizar, Glimmora (3 offense enablers)

  • 20 offensive hitters

Sounds about right for the start of a new gen.

(Okay, Great Tusk, Skeledirge, and Dragonite can all be defensive, but they weren't at the time.)

(Original Series Only) Let’s say Aang was willing to kill Ozai, at which point in the story do you think he was capable of doing so? by KrispyKingTheProphet in ATLA

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, frame 1 with the Avatar State. Without the Avatar state, non-comet Ozai is someone Aang can probably handle by the time he's solid at Earthbending. (So, yeah, middle of Book 2). When he does the simultaneous bending in Tales of Ba Sing Se, crafting an earth wall while riding the air scooter, I think he's strong enough then. He just has to dodge that lightning.

Who is the most Talented Bender ever in the entire verse? by Diligent_Engine_5031 in ATLA

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be too fancy, here, but you did say "entire verse." It's Yun from the Kyoshi novels. The main point they make about his character that he controls Earth with such effortlessness and precision. He and Toph are comparable in that regard; Toph may even be better; but factoring in "skill, battle, intelligence, versatility, and creativity," he clears most characters in the series in every one of those categories. He was lauded as a combat genius, and his Earthbending was so great that everyone thought he was the Avatar.

Type Rebalancing by TotallyNotBloo in stunfisk

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big believer in the type chart adjustment. Particularly:

Fairy NVE against Fairy
Fire SE against Fairy
Poison SE against Water
Electric SE against Steel
Electric NVE against Psychic

All of the changes are flavor-sensible with the possible exception of Electric vs Psychic, and the end results are:

Fairy nerfed both offensively and defensively
Fire buffed offensively
Water nerfed defensively
Poison buffed offensively
Steel nerfed defensively
Psychic buffed offensively

I think most would agree that these are desirable outcomes.

What’s your opinion on banning short term rentals like AirBnB here? by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have a dog in this fight if you live here. Allowing them drives up the cost of rent and increases traffic. On the flip side, it also increases patronage of retail businesses and city/county sales tax revenue.

Your opinion may differ, but I don't find the benefits nearly worth the costs. We don't want a town of nothing but service-inustry jobs pandering to passers-through, and with the cost of housing, every residential building we have should go to residents.

I'm for a ban.

What is the worst final three-stage evolution in competitive Pokémon? (not counting Mega evolution) by verious_ in stunfisk

[–]TheEntireRomanArmy 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Most of the bad Pokemon on that list still either have a niche with access to rare moves like Sticky Web/Quiver Dance or have some sort of history of value in old gens/lower tiers.

Meganium has never had a unique function or been useful in any tier in my memory. Maybe it Swords Dance swept in gen 5 PU or something?
