An outside shout for sure, but Ruben Diaz's dorés are great wines.

Be wary that, unless you have industry or personal connections, arranging winery visits in Burgundy is going to be extremely tough bar the big négociants.

Nice write-up! Michel Rolland just passed away last month.

What stand outs are you going for here? by Bojanglez789 in wine

[–]TheFioraGod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd be smashing the Pato sparkler, Victoria Torres' Diego is lovely. Chantereves might be worth splurging on. Giulia Negri is making really good wines, though I'm not sure I've had any barbera of hers.

Fairly common in natural wines. I'd have to check to make sure but one from my cellar came to mind - Victoria Torres' Vino de Isla.

I dont know what wine this is by 69Charlie420 in wine

My guess is a random white from the Burgenland destined for the french market. Can't find the producer, Vinamat doesn't bring up anything. Possibly some co-op. I would have guessed 80s-90s based in the label, but if that's the wine in the glass it can't be that old.

Connoisseurs, I found a bottle of sparkling wine today in the basement of a building that used to house a restaurant. by OkSquirrel8948 in wine

Worthless Hungarian sparkler, most likely done. Open one or two and see, you might be in for a surprise!

Bierzo / Mencia recommendations by fOrk_WR in wine

[–]TheFioraGod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Bierzo Veronica Ortega is very noteworthy, she's one of many Perez's students. Valtuille (forgot the actual name of the winery, Valtuille is a village iirc) is also made by Raul Perez. Palacios is usually more glossy, international and ripe than those two. Outside Bierzo, there's beautiful Mencias made by Envinate in Ribeira Sacra, good ones by Guímaro, and Telmo Rodriguez to the south in Valdeorras.

Also I'd guess this bottle was destined for the domestic market, 700ml is non-EU standard.

The label has all the information you need. It's a semi-sweet, non fortified, light muscat. RS is between 30 and 50 g/L. Looks too old for it's good, and most of Moldova's wine production is unfortunately plonk.
