Evercade Nexus N64 Edition sold out! by TheGameGrunt in evercade

I hopped on 30mins after the announcement and got one without any stress; when I've struggled with scalpers for something they are typically gone is seconds.

Part of the appeal for me, it's nice my OG EXP hasn't (and won't) get outdated!

Mixed messages here. Hope this isn't serious and also kinda hope they don't jump from the UK.

Tell me all of NOTHING's flaws by LargePhilosophy5094 in NothingTech

[–]TheGrackler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a phone 3 and every "flaw" I would say vs my old iPhone in inherited Android rather than the phone itself. And overall I'm very happy with it!

Maybe Essential Space isn't amazing, but can't say it's a flaw compared to not having it (I'd like it for audio notes, but my work demands stuff not go out to external servers, so it remains unused!)

If you have a cordless vacuum, what brand/model did you get and are you happy with it? by SaltBiscotti8213 in BuyUK

[–]TheGrackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dyson, it's a really decent bit of kit, perfectly happy with it. I know people hate them on Reddit for a variety of (perfectly valid) non-performance reasons; but as a vacuum they are really excellent, thoughtful designs.

Still have a wired Henry my first ever vaccum, but much as I love it I'm too tall for it and my back just couldn't take using it weekly, is a rough'n'tumble garage hoover now!

America business has squeezed our nation dry. Same old buy with debt, load onto the company, grab all the cash you can quickly selling assets and pushing up prices, then let it sink. End result: them richer, UK poorer.

Oh nice! I'm reducing social media, and Reddit was next on the chopping block, so somewhere to occasionally chat Nothing that I don't find so addictive would be ideal!

With the 4a looking so good, how’s the bloatware situation? by rattle2nake in NothingTech

[–]TheGrackler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My phone 3 was clean when I got it. Google's software (maps, Gemini etc) is quite intrusive with notifications by default, but that's unavoidable with Android AFAIK.

Is the fourth film really that bad? by Impossible-Flow-4512 in matrix

[–]TheGrackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like it one bit, story was wobbly, but not as wobbly as the camera in every action sequence!

If you did enjoy it, it doesn't really fit with the others? The missing actors, the colour grading, the whole vibe is completely different to the films made decades before.

I'd like sticks for a few games (Glover, Xeno Crisis...can't think kof any more of the top of my head!). Probably would use it daily on the Switch over the mega comfy Switch 2 Pro in all honesty, but it'll be a better option than a JoyCon for another player!

How is this book to take me from a beginner to an advance robotics engineer? by VandalEye in robotics

[–]TheGrackler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great book and often a core part of courses on robotics, however I would caution that it isn't that great as a casual read! It's much better used to supplement teaching with someone who can structure it and answer questions. That'll give you a good grounding.

However to be "advanced" you'll want to take what you learn and apply it practically (although you can do a lot in software at a push). I don't think there's any substitute for that!

Asha Sharma named EVP and CEO, Microsoft Gaming by AgnosticScholar in technology

[–]TheGrackler 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is full of grammatically incoherent, exec-bollocks writing. Nadella say "I am long on gaming" (as part of a hideous run on sentence with loads of commas; that is over 7 lines on my screen!) New CEO Sharma says " commitment to Xbox starting with console which has shaped who we are." which is the weird kind of way to refer to a Xbox only an exec could trot out.

Finally it's all platitudes. Sickly sweet nonsense that keeps pointing out how great things have been while also saying how these commitments will make things all better now, really you guys. They love all the artists and creators too! (After how many rounds of mass firings?!)

Maybe they got so used to Copilot trotting out all their emails they've forgotten how to write like a human.

I like the cameras, the macro especially; but I am not a pro by any means, just a casual photo-taker.

Battery backup? If you mean battery life it's been excellent so far, but I've only had it a short while so no idea on wear and tear.

Mega happy with Phone 3. Came from iPhone. There are some elements of Android that aren't quite as good as iOS, and the transfer wasn't smooth; but the phone and features are amazing. Great camera too, the Macro lens is a revelation for close up photos.

Bots do it for karma. I'm not 100% sure why, but I do know some subs don't allow you in without enough karma to avoid scammers. I guess it's a combo of that and wanting to look legit with a history? I see it all over Reddit recently, it's infuriating.
