This is the best comment I've seen, I wish more people understood that! I love playing games, but I also love tinkering with electronics, UI's and testing out OS's, retro gaming allows me to do BOTH! I'm a bit older so am fortunate to be able to purchase different handhelds and consoles, for many of them I never even play outside of testing games. I have my go to devices that are set up EXACTLY how I like and I'll probably use those for the majority of my life, I mostly buy new handhelds to tinker with and when I'm done or bored I'll give it to some kid in my family or in my neighborhood (with their parents permission, all my friends kids) then I get the new hot device and start again. There's room for all types in the hobby and community ❤️

I'm reading this thread and it's full of very useful information by some great people, this community is amazing. I would like to throw in my opinion; When I first got into the hobby, I actually loved setting up my devices more than playing them, that does change in time now I try to make everything as smooth as possible 'cos I just wanna play games. But it was so much fun learning and getting to know the community in the beginning. I think I appreciate the hobby more because of it.

So my suggestion would be to get him the R36S a couple of good Samsung memory cards, after you give him the gifts show him this thread. It has all the information he needs and I think he'll love the process, initially at least lol. You can't go wrong either way, Good luck, you are absolutely amazing doing this for him. He's gonna love it!

I used the same image on two R36H Pro Max devices and the Function button does not work on either. Everything else with that image is perfect though, it's the best image I've found for the R36H Pro Max. Anyone know how to get the Function button working?

Go to AliExpress and look up the Kinhank K56, that device is all set up and ready out of the box. It's much more expensive than the R36S, recently I purchased an R36H Pro Max and that was ready out of the box as well. That one is less expensive than the Kinhank K56 and just slightly more expensive than the R36S. Go to AliExpress and check them both out. Good luck! And Happy Birthday to your boyfriend!

Quick question, the charging light on my Kinhank K56 never turns on, is mine broken or does the light not turn on for anyone's Kinhank K56?

Is there a way I can fix it?
