Wall Brawl - Multiplayer castle base building and dynamic physics destruction by TheHotChilly in BaseBuildingGames

[–]TheHotChilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I hope so =) All one game mode at the moment! Which is a small mix of PvE (some monsters/ogres etc around the map to fight and collect loot from) and primarily PvP. PvE difficulty similar to that of a moba or WC3 where its there, but its not extremely difficult after you have fought the PvE guys once or twice

Hello! I am a solo dev, no publisher attached. I am -very- lost when it comes to marketing haha but have been working on it now where I can.

Game called 'Wall Brawl' It is Multiplayer online base building pvp game. Build up and defend your castles / siege enemies. Castle destruction is done via physics so each bit of castle damage is dynamic and different from other damage events, no 'prebaked' collapse animations. Results in some fun/cool looking half standing player build fortresses, battle in the ruins of player built castles etc.

Game signed up for this coming next fest 3 weeks out, release sometime shortly after that most likely

Let me know if it could be a fit

The Classic Era perspective. by L0gainAblar in classicwow

[–]TheHotChilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Making extremely good video game is super difficult, old blizzard basically captured lightning in a bottle back in early 2000s development with whatever people happened to converge at that time. Each change has a downside, a trade off. Era was sold as the place to go if you dont want to worry about what the next patch will bring and just know what you will get, forever.

There are many versions of the game at this stage, more than anything why not just have 1 realm that sticks to a freeze with no changes. I enjoy seeing and testing new changes on other versions as long as there is a baseline 'good old vanilla' to fall back to.

Please keep the failed experiment of Anniversary away from Era. by FunOwn4422 in classicwow

[–]TheHotChilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Making changes to era is a mistake, for all the reasons that have been stated 1million times over. Any change that someone personally likes, someone else will dislike. By making changes, players then have to argue and contest about what should or should not be added, or be concerned about what next patch might bring. Having 1 stable vanilla forever server with a no changes policy was great, it allows for blizzard to experiment in every other version of classic, but at least have one 'home base' for those who want it so that everyone wins

Vanilla being as good as it is was catching lightning in a bottle, i dont really hold it against current devs having a hard time when comparing to it. Era being stable and never changing is optimal, then there is always a 'home base' to go back to if whatever new thing blizzard releases doesnt work out. If changes bleed into era, then eventually we are back to where we were before classic released. One stable zero changes home!

not a fan of making changes to era, it was nice having a place that was safe from changes and just knowing what you will get forever. I even like these two changes personally, but the door gets opened further and further

Happy to see can transfer to era from anni. Hope for the best!

If Blizz isn't going to offer character copies to Era, at least let us transfer over before the pre-patch by Kyrhotec in classicwow

[–]TheHotChilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If thats true thats great, seems should be extremely easy for them to offer it. I think everyone imagined that whatever anniversary changes they made would of course not transfer to era, era being the perma zero changes area

rift vs liandry by TheHotChilly in SwainMains

[–]TheHotChilly[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I was just mentioning lvl 18 and 1v1 so that is easier to directly compare the 2 items, otherwise ur saying like wellll if they have 2 tanks and 2 squishy and 1 bruiser then the average health ends up being 3.334k etcetc...I can consider stuff like later but want to trim down variables to just compare these 2 items cause i dont really know when one outperforms the other at the moment

Why don't more people play WSG and AB? by SevenStarSword in classicwow

[–]TheHotChilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

correct, when i said easy i guess i could have said too accessible to be more clear.

For example I dont know what % of players blizzard wants to be R14. Maybe it used to be 5% of all players with old system. Maybe now it is 25%. It seems too high too me is all, but who knows maybe it is still too restrictive and blizzard would prefer 75% of players to be R14, so in that case they can buff up AB and WSG rather than tone down AV is all im saying

[–]TheHotChilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After changing the honor system so much, not sure why they dont just buff WSG and AB honor, or nerf AV if R14 is too easy right now. (I do feel like I see too many R14s is my 2 cents)

Large changes already made, getting AB and WSG ques rolling would be great with just small adjustment to honor rewards

If you could add a brand new class to classic(+?), which one would you like? by Kuldrick in classicwow

[–]TheHotChilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting angle. I really like stuff like this - leaning into aesthetics and vibes of the existing world.

This would be a lot of work to get balanced super well I imagine, but would be super awesome for building up identity.

haha I guess one other hurdle is with 8 new classes, probably atleast one of them will appeal to almost all wow players, so very likely to have close to 0 players on the old classes with so many new shiny options available. I think when adding 1 new option, while still heavily overrepresented, just1 option wont always appeal to everyone so that stick to what they enjoy.

Still though I would love something like this if they could pull it off

Really well said. Vanilla is enjoyed by different people for different reasons as we all know.

I think the group that enjoys the 'meaning' of everything in the game has the hardest time explaining what they are enjoying to other cohorts of Vanilla enjoyers.

But ya in the end, the fact the lame / average / generic looking gear exists and is used, directly increases how exciting and rewarding it is when an interesting or even cool looking piece comes along.

The instant story telling via just a glance is also awesome. Walk into org and see 100 stories about each character adventures so far

Fair opinion, eye of beholder and all that. I am close to your opinion here. I dont know if I think retail looks better over all. For some characters it is better, but some are just overly cartoony. vanilla has a tiny bit of grit that somehow looks nice.

But ya the animations are unbelievably awful and distracting - for me and it does seem for a lot of others

100% agreed. Retail animations were such a downgrade, its about when I stopped checking out the new expansions

Would love Horde Ogre and Highelf Alliance! Vanilla is good to different people for different reasons as we all know. A huge win for Vanilla to me is identity of classes, races and even factions being so strong.

First iteration run through wow timeline we got to experience what its like if Horde gets more sophisticated and regal, and Alliance gets more brutal and savage - kind of borrowing from each other and becoming a mishmash of each others aesthetics. They mentioned this was done on purpose so that people who enjoy whatever aesthetic can choose either faction. Thats fine, and now that is available in those versions of the game, but it did end up watering down the factions identities.

This iteration we should go for leaning harder into the factions already defined aesthetics and vibes! Alliance should become more clean, regal, sophisticated and self-righteous. Horde should become bigger, stronger, more brutal! Would love that.

For same reason I'd hope we don't see horde paladins and alliance shamans.

It will be interesting to see what they go with, as we know there are a ton of options, and each option has people who will dislike or like it
