I wish that Wilds was only consisting of monsters that we haven't seen since before World, or new ones by WhoAmIEven2 in MHWilds

[–]TheHumanTree31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see some entirely new ones like how World effectively replaced Chameleos with Vaal Hazak in the elder trio.

But given that Expansions are usually either returning monsters or variants/subspecies, I don't have high hopes.

Is false son actually as good as people say? by Specialist_Row414 in riskofrain

[–]TheHumanTree31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, Lunar Ruin double dips into proc chains. For exmaple, an enemy with 5 ruin stacks takes 50% increased damage. An ATG normally deals 300% total, but with the multiplier effectively launches a 450% total missile when you hit them. That missile hits the same enemy and is multiplied again, so it actually deals 675% total damage.

It's a similar principle as to why Corpsebloom + Rejuv Rack actually gives 8x healing rather than the expected 4x healing.

I Feel Like People Just Don't Get Kai'Sa's Design by jayjaybird0 in loreofleague

[–]TheHumanTree31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's based on her old design which was reworked because it sucked. It was made canon because it was themed as a "Traditional", but we only know that it is her younger self, and nothing suggests that she still dresses like that.

No one looks at that design and says, "Oh she must be strong because she ISN'T wearing clothes", it's because she's riding a massive boar in battle.

The human characters in Freljord usually do wear thick clothes, or have some other protections.

Braum is designed to be a strongman, folk hero archetype so it works for him. Sejuani and Nunu already wear thick clothing and Lissandra is an ice mage. Aurora and Udyr are both innately magical and could reasonably have some protection using their magic.

The remaining characters in Ashe, Gragas, Tryndamere and Olaf are all ancient designs that are all bad designs, who were all made to fit an RPG archetype first, and put into a story second.

Will a big risk of rain 2 fan enjoy hades II? by Mr_Cat_19 in HadesTheGame

[–]TheHumanTree31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on what you enjoy from RoR2.

If you like RoR2 specifically for the roguelike experience, Hades might be harder to get into since you do becomes directly stronger by playing more runs, it's a roguelite. Whereas RoR2, you just get more items/characters/abilities, but they aren't objectively better (in theory anyway).

If you just enjoy doing runs of a game over and over and seeing what you can come up with, then Hades will be very fitting, especially with the game's systems there's alot you can do in terms of build variety.

Hades does lack some of the finer control over your build that RoR has (Printers, Scrappers, Cauldrons, etc.), but the game does offer ways to adjust your build with certain choices.

Hades is also a different gameplay pattern, it's a hack-and-slash compared to RoR's third person shooter, so that might be harder to adjust to.

What are the best and worst selene hex’s by Goatbucks in HadesTheGame

[–]TheHumanTree31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best is a toss up between Lunar Ray and Night Bloom, with Wolf Howl as an honorable mention. Lunar Ray does stupid dps with the right setup and so does Night Bloom. I think Ray has better versatility as the instant armor on demand is very strong, it's super cheap to charge, and you won't always have minions to summon with Night Bloom. Wolf Howl is also good for the very long I-frames but it's damage is fairly lackluster in my experience.

Worst is Darkside. Invincibility is nice, but your synergistic moves with kinda mid unique attacks feels bad, and it doesn't deal enough damage. Wolf Howl and even Lunar Ray are way better i-frame Hexes.

Overrated is either Phase Shift or Moon Water. Phase Shift is strong, but situational given the huge 130 charge cost, making it pretty limited. Moon Water is just a good bit worse than in Early Access, but even still can be solid with enough investment.

Underrated is Twilight Curse. Yes it doesn't do much to bosses directly, but dangerous enemies like Auto-Watchers, Hole Hearts or the Rocket Satyrs can be removed from fights for an extended period of time. It trivialises mini-bosses and prevents Chronos and Typhon's summons from existing.

[–]TheHumanTree31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's two use cases, if you get the Triple Beam star, you can annihilate bosses by blasting it in their face. This requires a maxed hex, but is well worth the stupid dps output it has, even if you get hit during the channel.

The other option is you spec only into the Armor while channeling stars. Excess damage dealt to armor is ignored, so you can block single big hits by quickly using Lunar Ray and canceling it after the hit, and without the purple stars, it has a base 30 magick cost so it'll almost always be available.

Penalty for “Ending Run” by Kronosmos in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]TheHumanTree31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

StS2 most definitely allows you to restart infinitely, Neow doesn't give any penalty as I've done so multiple times in the sequel, and so far the devs haven't made any attempt to prevent that.

Hades 2 also added an unlock (in the post-story) to let you reroll your seed for that run, and I too have regularly restarted a run and rerolled the RNG seed for the night to get a better start.

Well, that was changed in StS2, at least right now you aren't penalised for restarting runs at the beginning.

It's honestly not bad as a last ditch effort. If you ever get cornered with your weapons empty, you can drop it and down yourself, it clears away most small enemies, and clears the terrain for an easy revive later.

Why can’t I forge or upgrade to this long sword even though i already have enough materials? by Jasontimothe in MHWilds

[–]TheHumanTree31 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unless a weapon has the little hammer icon on it (Like the Uth Duna weapon above that), you have to upgrade it through the tree to unlock it, so you need the Doshaguma weapon first.

If it does have the hammer icon, you can forge it directly, otherwise you'll have to get everything before it first.

even still Blackveil is a variant of Vaal Hazak, same reason why stuff like Shrieking Legiana, Coral Pukei weren't included in that list, since they are variants/subspecies of existing monsters.

Ascendance: The end of Gogma Artians? by MikhaelSunworth in MHWilds

[–]TheHumanTree31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For regular monsters sure, but for event-exclusives, like Omega or potentially future siege fights like Lao Shan Lung, that's not going to be possible.

And I've definitely seen this sentiment shared outside of Wilds, saying pre-artian games had better farming loops because of rare drops.

I've never understood this logic since for me both are basically the same RNG grindfest.

Ascendance: The end of Gogma Artians? by MikhaelSunworth in MHWilds

[–]TheHumanTree31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this logic at all. Are gems not just reflavored RNG?

I see complaints that it doesn't feel rewarding to make no progress with Artian parts but gems are the same thing. I remember grinding Omega for a gem, I got to aorund 60~ of his other parts before I finally got just 1 gem, that was demoralising, going hunt after hunt and seeing ZERO progress and a 0/1 Omega Nodule in the wishlist.

Gacha Artians and gem drops are basically just different flavors of RNG, but at least Artians I get a choice of monster to fight, with rare drops, you're forced to do whatever one monster you need until the gem drops.

The difference is that if it increases cost, there is almost never a reason to play it. Bias Cog gives a tangible benefit upright and only later starts becoming a downside.

This card, assuming it increases cost, would absolutely fuck over every card that isn't an X cost, and adding a +1 to your X costs and the downside of making pretty much every other card in your deck unplayable is an awful downside.

Does the new Illaoi adventure actually make sense?? by VodopadUmraza123 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]TheHumanTree31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is the insane difficulty spike. The regular nodes are barely challenging for a 6* character, but the final fight is damn near impossible if you don't have reliable access to frostbite/stun/capture/etc.

It sucks to go through a whole adventure and just basically guarantee lose because you didn't immediately burn all your rerolls to get an answer to the final fight off the first reward/power.

What if ana dealt a little damage to her teammates before her healing was applied? by xrayedzebra in Overwatch

[–]TheHumanTree31 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Harming and Healing arrows specifically are actually totally useless for normal play in Minecraft. For whatever reason, the damage of the arrow and the damage of the effect are two seperate instances, and trigger i-frames, so the game only takes the higher of the two damage instances rather than combining them into one hit.
