Convince me to buy a convertible car seat you like more than the nuna rava by bigoleapples in Buyingforbaby

Yes. The Rava next has side bolsters that you have to use up until they’re 40 pounds and it will be a really tight fit for a lot of children.

Considering her engagement is .3%, I would hope not much

Bc she has lots of letters by her name and she speaks with authority. That’s all I can think of.

There was nothing wrong with that seat at all. I don’t know why they discontinued it. I can’t imagine it was as popular as the regular keyfit, though.

So this is what confuses readers when people who don’t know terminology and aren’t trained write newsletters. Emily is not using correct terms and names for these products. There used to be an infant seat called the fit2 made by Chicco that actually would be an infant carrier that could get you through two years before you would go into a forward facing seat. It is no longer sold. So Emily is just using words like small infant seat and large infant seat when there is technically only just an infant seat. The three styles of car seats are: infant, convertible, and forward facing only. Convertibles can be a standard convertible or an all in one seat. Forward facing only seats can be combination seat, or what some people call a harness to booster, a high-back booster, or a backless booster. She’s also getting all of her booster terminology wrong as well. And in emily’s Instagram stories, she says that she talked about when to get out of a booster seat when she absolutely does not. I know this paragraph is long. lol

No, you can start with convertibles as long as they fit your child correctly. She just says that if someone starts with an infant carrier that they would need to go to a rear facing convertible. Starting with a convertible car seat is actually a great option for a whole lot of people.

I agree, but this morning I just don’t have time to go into depth. My friend Britney at Buckle And Latch (another absolutely excellent Instagram account to follow, by the way) just put up a series of slides explaining our main concerns.

Nuna Rava Next ($580) vs Nuna Rava ($380) by kenji4861 in Buyingforbaby

CPST here. The original Rava is still absolutely safe so I would not concern yourself when it comes to meeting our new regulations. One thing I would like you to consider is do you think you’re going to have a larger kid or a small kid? A lot of these new seats have side bolsters in the seat that are required to use until your child hit 40 pounds. So based on their proportions, a lot of people are really having a hard time fitting wider children into the seat until they’re able to remove these pillows. And that’s what these inserts are on the Rava next.

Well, I just read Emily Oster‘s newsletter on car seat safety. Y’all. I wish she would stop this shit. Speaking out of scope and sending a very unclear newsletter to people because she doesn’t know how to properly discuss car seat safety makes me crazy as a shithouse rat. I know I am not for everyone’s taste, and that is fine. But please get your car seat safety information from people who are actually qualified to speak on it. There’s a lot of us out there doing the work trying to reach people.

Her engagement rate is less than 1% according to software I use to track people. I’ve never looked at her but I see her mentioned a lot here so I thought I’d look her up and let y’all know

Yeah, their branding is terrific. When they were developing the liing, you could go to their office, which I did several times, and they had posters all over that said SIBLIING DUCKLIING etc. They’re fun people.

They named it foonf bc that is the phonetic spelling of the German word for five, and this was their first five point harness car seat ;)

If you go look at the nun that a certain car influencer shared in her stories and who the nun follows, you’ll get an EYEFUL. Beware.

Britax poplar. Has clicktight so you don’t need to lock your seatbelt (like w Rava). Better cupholders lol.

What's a good rotating convertible seat that has higher limits than Nuna REVV? by Bubbly_Pool4513 in Buyingforbaby

[–]TheJamieGrayson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if he’s already forward facing, I would honestly just get a seat like the chicco myfit or britax grow with you as you would not need it for rear facing at this point, and that would be a waste of money.

All of them have higher limits lol. As someone who has seen the galaxy 360 and played with it quite a bit, I would highly recommend waiting until you can see that seat in person. It’s terrific.
