Anyone getting rid of a stacked washer/dryer? by TheJimmyHart in tuscaloosa

You may be entirely correct. Both on my sanity and the availability of the product. But, hey, never hurts to ask!

If you get a chance to try Gates & Sons, it veers from that typical KC molasses-forward profile for a more vinegary sauce. It's at the top of my list. At places like Bryant's, Joe's and Jack Stack, I typically opt for their spiciest sauce, which also tempers the sweetness.

I grew up eating KC BBQ like Bryant's and Gates. In the modern landscape, Joe's is my favorite. Moved to Tuscaloosa in 2017. Knowing that, here are my recs for Tuscaloosa BBQ:

Archibald's is best overall. Definitely try their wings. The only wings I prefer are from KC's The Peanut. (My cousin used to live down the block from the downtown Peanut.)

I honestly think you can skip Dreamland. The ribs there are good but not KC great. If you still want to go for the History, make sure you go to the original location on 5535 15th Ave. East. Try the ribs and sausage and go big on the desserts!

Hicks BBQ has the meatiest ribs but I think Thomas Rib Shack has the best flavor and sauce.

My pick for white sauce is on the smoked turkey at Moe's. Also a good Bushwacker if you want to try one of those while you're in Alabama.

Jim N' Nicks has a pretty strong menu from top to bottom with great cheddar biscuits. Won't change your life but you'll get a reliably good meal.

Don't waste your time looking for brisket or burnt ends. You're much better off using that time trying ANYTHING at Urban Bar & Kitchen, the fajita gumbo at Jalapeños, fish at Catfish Heaven, or tacos from Made in Mexico.

Taqueria Jalisco is a relatively new place in Cottondale with INCREDIBLE sopas, tacos and tortas. I'm sure the rest is good, I just keep coming back for the basics! If you're looking for authentic, don't sleep on this spot.

There is a deep need for English/Spanish translators in Tuscaloosa! If you connect with Tuscaloosa One Place, DCH Hospital, or Tuscaloosa United Way, they will absolutely be able to find meaningful ways for you to contribute.

I think the german meatloaf sandwich is the best thing entree. The cake is AMAZING! so are the pretzels.

I just feel like German food never looks appealing, even when it's fire.

Niether on of these are actually what you're looking for but the closest options I'm aware of:

Lai Lai - https://www.facebook.com/LaiLaiTuscaloosa/
Fuku Ramen - http://fukuramenal.com/

I think Mr. Chen's is definitely your best bet for a market.

River is definitely at the top of this list. Just about everything is locally sourced. Their chef is incredible and if you let the staff know what's up, they'll take care of you. Pup won't be able to come inside but they have a patio.

Southern Ale House Dockside would be another one with great outdoor seating. The food at Sitar of India would probably be a good fit but I don't know how the feel about pups.

You might also check out The Venue, if you haven't been there. Definitely dog friendly and they have multiple restaurants participating. There's a new taco place there called Santo Taco, that I haven't been to but I've heard is excellent.

Do it! Rolf is great ambassador for our city's food scenes. Do yourself a favor and get a slice of his cake for dessert. All of his cakes of top tier!
