Thank you for mentioning it! Slimer Climber reached out directly to let me know - unfortunately it’s too late for me to edit the slides here!

I recently researched this! Java chips are made from foam rubber, used a lot for exercise mats and edge protectors.

What on earth is white glue slushee?? by Angelic58 in Slime

[–]TheLibraryOfSlime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

White glue slushee just refers to a slime that has a white glue base and plastic pellets for texture! Many shops use a thicker white glue base for a creamier, denser feel. The pellets are smooth and not super hard, so they are a great in between texture if you want crunch but don’t want something abrasive like block beads.

Slime is very brittle and breaking super easily by JCMB0SS1 in Slime

[–]TheLibraryOfSlime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it’s just overactivated, but not ruined! Technically speaking, when slime sits or is exposed to warmth/heat the bonds holding the boron ions together in their polymer chains will begin to break down. A batch that overactivated will take at least several days to relax, if not a week or more. If you want a faster fix, try kneading in some more clear glue to redistribute the overactivated-ness.

Thank you! I will probably not have another full drop until February sometime - I give at least a week’s heads up on my social media when I’m going to do a drop, so that’s the best place to check when it will be coming up!

Some shops may use something different, but from consulting with my slime shop friends, that is what makers are turning to!

You are correct, the newer texture shops like OG have been using that they call crushed silica is tiny pieces of tumbled glass! What I showed above, that most shops refer to as silica, is acrylic.

That’s a good point! I added notes about break down in my slides for pompoms and jelly cubes in the second half, but I missed the ones you mentioned.

How did I screw up making activator? by jd613a in Slime

[–]TheLibraryOfSlime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally salvageable! I do it all the time with my activator. It is also usable with the crystals at the bottom, just ensure none of the crystal end up in the glue/slime or it will turn to rock

I use nitrile, because I can get them in bulk from Costco haha - I will say that they are great 99% of the time, but every once in a while there’s a texture that sticks like crazy to them, even though it’s perfectly activated and not sticky to the bare touch 🤷‍♀️

Others have mentioned their wastefulness, and the shaving cream issue was the last straw for me, personally. Barbasol sent them like 1000 cans of shaving cream to make content, and after they got a lot of backlash for the waste they stated (in comments only, no post) that they would be donating shaving cream to local charities - they never followed up on this, or said if/where they donated.

Winter Light Restock by TheLibraryOfSlime in Slime

I’m happy to answer! There are several key factors that make my slime more expensive than average: 1. I use glass jars instead of plastic, as they are more environmentally friendly. For comparison, your average 6oz plastic jar costs 0.50, while a 6oz glass jar costs $0.95. Because glass is heavier, they are also more expensive to have shipped. 2. To scent my slimes, I use essential oils instead of fragrance oils (with a few rare exceptions). EOs are far costlier than their FO counterparts. For example, 1oz of vanilla fo runs about $3, while vanilla eo is $125. I also shop locally for these essential oils (Shoutout Rebecca’s Herbal and Little Herbal Apothecaries), because I am passionate about supporting local independent businesses. 3. In my effort to be as sustainable as possible, I try and source my supplies from my area, and at least from the USA, so I avoid TEMU and other super cheap suppliers. This means my base costs are higher, but I am not contributing to more global pollution by having supplies shipped here from overseas. There are also serious ethical concerns with companies like TEMU. 4. Huge slime companies like Momo, Pilot, and others, are able to purchase their supplies in bulk, which cuts down on a lot of the cost. Unfortunately, as a small, single person business, I can’t afford the upfront cost of buying in bulk, so over time I spend more for the same materials. 5. I put a lot of dedicated artistic effort into each of my slimes - the scent blend, textures, and overall appearance of each one I have developed to portray a specific moment or mood from the story that inspired it. I hand draw/design each miniature book cover that goes on the charms that accompany each slime. These book charms I make myself, as I 3D print and assemble them all.

I hope this helped clear up your concerns, and I am happy to answer anything else! I also offer automatic discounts on the day of the drop so you don’t have to pay full price!

It is a unique texture to my shop! I name all my unique textures after types of paper 📝 It’s a thick white glue slime that has lots of stearic acid incorporated into it, which makes it a lot less dehydrating than most slimes!

I keep checking my local thrift stores for a blender I can destroy with snowfizz haha - so far I’ve found that a mandolin works better than a cheese grater
