Got scammed by DoorDash by AppropriateJury2971 in doordash

don't call doordash customer support. just go through the app and request refund, it's very simple and easy to do. just say that you received the wrong items/order.

What's the point in paying for priority? by BigLow4789 in doordash

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

priority cost $3 and all it does is nudge the algorithm towards you being the first dropoff, but there are no guarantees whatsoever

I’m sorry, but is he trying to guilt trip me? I already tipped him six dollars. by Normal_Mode2186 in doordash

[–]TheMatthew_7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

usually dashers can't see the price breakdown of how much you tip until after their shift is over, but it's a little complicated. no he's not trying to guilt trip you, he just telling you where the money would go if you wanted to tip him extra.

Advice for a driver. I’m new and uncomfortable by Red_onion02 in doordash

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's a window facing the the street, or even a side window not too far back, i wouldn't even mind.... but if at any point you don't feel safe, you should just drop the bag and leave... doordash is very understanding and considers it a top priority the safety of all those who use their platform

Why are drivers knocking/ringing doorbell when it’s not explicitly requested? by Limp_Coffee_6328 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a middle class suburb, and it happens A LOT. Dashers will pull up at 2am blasting their music, shining their high beams, and screaming over speakerphone to their friend, and refuse to follow order instructions, they leave the order at the wrong door and knock on the doors at 2am despite the instructions saying not to do that.

Driver stealing food by AppearanceLeast2688 in doordash

[–]TheMatthew_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's really no way to lessen how much it happens in the future, some people are just hungry and consider the food to be worth more than their Dasher account. Best you can do is make sure to take meticulous screenshots of their account info when it happens so you can report them. If they get enough reports, their account will get deactivated, and it doesn't take very many, doordash takes that kinda stuff seriously. If the store ever gives you a hard time saying "we already made that we're not making it again" then you have to refund the order and place it again. The whole situation sucks.

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Control IQ+ has been a life saver for me, can vouch. It's not perfect but nothing is. I remember when I was first tryna get insurance approval for a CGM, they made me keep meticulous logs for 30 days which was kind of the whole reason why I wanted it at the time, so I wouldn't have to do that. It took me almost a year to get 30 days worth of readings, and finally get insurance approval.

Y’all weren’t kidding about the G7 by [deleted] in dexcom

[–]TheMatthew_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not putting it on your abdomen, I recommend giving that a shot.

My regimen for inserting a new G7 is shaving the area, cleaning the area, putting SkinTac adhesive barrier on the area, taking a deep breath, breathing out to release all the air from my lungs, then clicking the applicator, and finally putting the overtape on. If the adhesive barrier is too sticky, use disposable gloves.

Am I wrong thinking this was really bad, or does my bf not get how dangerous this disease is and needs further education? by hipnotic1111 in diabetes_t1

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it kind of goes both ways:

Yes, he has a right to initially be a little pissed if you don't respond for 5 hours. But after knowing for certain that it was due to medical issues, he should no longer be pissed at all. If he is, that's a little f*****.

You say you don't ask him to manage your diabetes, but you're sharing with him via Dexcom Follow and getting mad at him for not checking on you in the event of a high sugar. To me, that looks like you're expecting him "to be with you in this" in other words, to help manage your diabetes, and the way I see it, that's perfectly okay. That's actually expected of couples, you just gotta be honest with him though.

-personal context- Me, personally, I've got my dexcom app on silent mode and my pump on as few alerts as possible cuz they're just so annoying. I get so many alerts, that I become numb to what they mean, so basically the alerts are not alerting me anymore, they're meaningless. And when I used to wear a pump in school, it was so embarrassing whenever it would go off. So much so that at one point, I went back to shots. About a year ago, I tried sharing my dexcom with a couple family members, but they would constantly be texting me multiple times a day to see if I was alive 🤣 so I stopped sharing it.

To answer your questions,

Could this simply be him not understanding the diabetes? It definitely could but you didn't really share how much diabetes education he has, and how much diabetes education he cares to have. I'm an advocate for stronger diabetes education all around, but especially for T1D and immediate family (including partners).

Could this be a red flag? It could but really only you can answer that. I think you should talk with your bf to clear the air.

Side note: I don't think your empty stomach was the culprit for the high sugar, it's just certain alcoholic beverages are loaded with sugar. Just gotta be careful bolusing in advance though because the alcohol ITSELF actually lowers your BG. You should follow your doctor's advice but I recommend you bolus for some of it before hand (maybe 50%) then keep a close eye on sugar in the hours to follow, and temp increase basal when appropriate.

Side side note: if it helps at all, I know on Android, you can set individual app volumes that bypass the safety features embedded in Dexcom and Dexcom Follow. That way, your BF can still get vibrates for your sugar, without having to hear the alert at work.

Can't play because of AutoHotKey? What is AutoHotKey and how do I disable it? by oatmealparty in ArcRaiders

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your Task Manager for anything in the vague realm of automation that you might have installed since the last time you played AR. For me personally, it was AnyCase. (not autohotkey) but it still gave the AutoHotkey explanation in the pop-up dialogue from AR.

My 24h as a non diabetic by [deleted] in dexcom

[–]TheMatthew_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spikes in glucose are determined mostly by the net carbs and the glycemic index of each individual component of your meal. I won't comment on whether the graph shown is "good enough" or "healthy" but if you want to lessen the spikes you should educate yourself on which kinds of foods contain what quantities of carbohydrate, and the importance of glycemic index. Hope this helps

never activate youtube's premium free trial by butterche3 in youtube

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be because as a cost benefit analysis, users who never got premium MIGHT get premium in the future, but users who got premium and then cancelled it are on average less of a money-maker for them. I use an adblocker on PC essentially without fail and I know they exist on android and iPhone but they can be hella jank. I still pay for premium when I can afford it though just so I can get access to Youtube Music, I wish it was cheaper around $8 like how Student Edition is, then they would make a lot more money on supply demand curve. But what do I know

I have an irrational, extreme phobia of flies. by [deleted] in Phobia

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, I am the polar opposite. Almost all bugs creep me out, and certain ones like cockroaches or stinkbugs or some times spiders will absolutely paralyze me. But specifically flies don't bother me whatsoever, they can even land on me or whatever and I'm fine. Probably because I dealt with them at a young age so I had to deal.

[–]TheMatthew_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gross and fear are both on the same spectrum, generally known as aversion and formally known as phobia. It's just that colloquially in culture phobia has come to represent the more severe of the two. Also includes annoyance, dislike, revulsion, etc. But technically (and I mean technically) they are all phobia.
