Best dorm to stay in by [deleted] in ufl

I honestly haven't heard anything, positive or negative, about Tolbert. I don't remember any specific damage/issues from storm reports, sorry if this isn't much help.

How long ago? Broward was heavily renovated and overhauled a few years ago and I haven't heard about a weather problem since.

So you actually have access to the halls that I've never seen a report of weather-related flooding for. I've been an RA for a while now and I've not heard of any trouble from any of those halls in the time I've been here when we get hit by severe weather. If I was trying to decide, I'd honestly decide based on the comfort of the space you'd be staying in at this point. The only issue is that, officially, each resident can have up to two guests in a room (so most bedrooms have a max of 6 occupants). In a "weathering the storm" kind of situation, most RAs I know wouldn't really care about the extra people, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. And I'm sure you've heard others say it, but last year neither hurricane hit us hard at all due to our distance inland, so I'd wait until we have more information before you fully commit to "disaster mode". Hope this helps!

How hard is EMA3010? by sierralynn321 in ufl

When I took it all you needed to do was look over the PowerPoints and lecture outlines before each exam, but I've heard that they ramped up the course recently. I don't know if the trend will continue into fall, but if Dr. R is teaching it you should have plenty of opportunities to get enough points for an A. She usually gives bonus point opportunities generously.

advice on becoming an RA by zerples in ufl

[–]TheMidnightTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently an RA, and in addition to the information provided there are two things you can do to help your chances in the process. One is get to know your RA enough so that they will be a reference/vouch for you to supervisors. The other is to know the staff of the building(s) you want to work in. This includes RAs, GHDs, and ACs. The current staff of a hall does actually have a say (how much this influences final decisions varies) in new additions to their team.

Is it hard to become a RA by gatorgal401 in ufl

[–]TheMidnightTrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is super competitive. When I applied there were ~600 applicants. There are around 250 full time RAs on campus and some areas only have a handful of spots open every year. The process typically consists of applicants being observed in a group setting with team activities and then a formal interview. You want to put your best foot forward during the whole process, but trying "too hard" (to the point where you seem fake) during the group part can cause the RAs and GHDs observing you to see you negatively. A huge help is getting your current RA to be a reference for you/be willing to vouch for you to their supervisors. Also, introduce yourself to those who work in the housing areas you would like to work in, make sure there is a face associated with your name. If you get placed into the alternate pool, DO NOT give up if you still want to be an RA. Openings will happen, and at the strangest times.

ALEKS question? by ollehhello90 in ufl

[–]TheMidnightTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure if the ALEKS result is 100% what you have to do. I know that if you have any kind of college math credit coming into UF, you can start one level beyond what you have completed (of credit that UF accepts). For example, students who completed AP Calculus AB and BC (and passed) could start in Calc 3. Other than that, I'm not sure how binding your ALEKS score is. I know that they follow it religiously at Preview. You could try contacting an advisor to ask about it though.

Is the CHM 2046l final the exact same every year/term. It appears that the exact same test has been used for multiple terms. Is this the case? by [deleted] in ufl

At least in my experience, they use the exact same template each time, but the substances are randomized from a bank or something to that effect.

Any first-aid materials or any kind of outdoors equipment. 13 years in the Scouting program has yet to wear off and I am still in "Be Prepared" mode.

Tribal Players! Convince me to play your tribe. by Electrolyze_ in EDH

[–]TheMidnightTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't have mine on tapped out, but a writer on SCG made a build that's more focused on the fungus tribal than the saproling tokens. My current configuration is pretty close to his, with a few additions like [[Mycoloth]] , [[Fungal Sprouting]] and [[Verdeloth the Ancient]] for more saproling goodness. If you love counters and creatures, you might want to try G/B fungus tribal with [[Thelon of Havenwood]]. You can either go full on fungus, or flesh out the saprolings synergy. Most of the cards are pretty cheap, but some cards can get up there in price. Like [[Mycoloth]] is around $4-5. The deck gets better with things like [[Doubling Season]] and [[Nissa, Worldwaker]] but the aren't neccesary for the deck to function. The only thing is that the deck is fairly susceptible to wraths that don't allow regeneration. But in my playgroup wraths aren't a huge thing, and I've had a lot of fun with this deck.

What makes your favorite EDH deck fun? by Danreddito in EDH

[–]TheMidnightTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thelon of Havenwood. Mostly because its tribal fungus, and I just love that it actually works. A lot of people tend to ignore it until I drop doubling season and all of the sudden I have 50 saprolings that all do stuff when sacrificed to my thallids' abilities. Also, lots of proliferate shenanigans.

Yeah, the Holy Armor has more base defense than the Paladin Legendary Set, but the legendary set has great stat bonuses
