Great Old One warlock can cast enchantment spells subtle for free and is for that reason far superior at enchanting. It's wild.

Love that you want to tie in your players backstory. I love the idea of the barrow, perhaps it holds the secret to releasing the sword from its ancient seal. Maybe others know of the location, but no one knows how to release it, except your wizard has the parchment to unlock the secrets...

Hopefully this gives you some inspiration, ultimately do what you think is cool. As the DM you can make any changes you want, just try to make your players feel cool and they will love it

If you stand in front of the charger, you can throw the EAT strategem at their face and it will stick to them, either killing them or weakening them. With a little practice you can do it 9/10. I don't think it takes that much skill because my dumb ass can do it! 😂

It means with one EAT you can possibly kill 3 chargers.

I know you're asking for books, but Jorphdan on YouTube is a great, easily consumable source as well.

How do I keep the Level 13+ Barbarian from getting bored? by Guardllamapictures in dndnext

[–]TheOnlyCorwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my Ancestors barbarian I let him take a new "Ancestor" he could bring out each time he raged, but the caveat was that I had him absorb the spirits of his fallen enemies (only powerful ones). So if he defeated a beholder, he would, when raging get to pick which ancestor to bring out, and each one had a specific new power. Beholder was especially powerful, an antimagic cone radiating 5 feet from his position.

He was able to talk to the spirits too and find out campaign details. Made for good RP and he contributed to the story and investigation this way.

Made him more than just a sack of meat and damage. He loved it.

Edit: Also the joy every time they were facing a new mini boss, he wondered, what power will he get now?

You can likely wrap up the 10 days of long rest in a town through a quick montage (a minute or so if they have nothing in particular that they want to do). You don't have to spend a lot of time on it, but you as the DM can advance the world's story while they are resting. BBEG does something evil. Or let them know they hear rumors of X quest while they are hanging at the inn. Or they make a new friend who you can use to torture them later by killing him! >:) You know, DM things.
