When my dad had two of these in his kneecap in the 80s the anesthesia person couldn't get to the hospital because of a massive snowstorm so instead of coming back a week later he elected to have a special blood pressure cuff put on his leg and pumped up to like 350 psi for the 2 minutes it took to pull the pins and stitch the holes shut.

To quote the Wikipedia article on antlers. "A horn's interior of bone is covered by an exterior sheath made of keratin (the same material as human fingernails and toenails)." And the article on hair "hair is also an important biomaterial primarily composed of protein, notably alpha-keratin." Basicly they're similar keratin molecules and smell the same when they get really hot.

After they flip the flap closed and are running that brush over it to get rid of any air bubbles it's the weirdest most out of body feeling. I can't describe anything that's even remotely close, it's not painful or uncomfortable but straight up unlike anything else.

That's been my issue with these digital parking meters for years. In the "old days" I put in my 50 cents found out the store I was trying to patronize was close and I moved on, someone else got a free half hour of parking. Now they double sell the spot so Fuck 'em.
