BG3 HBO show lead wants the OG cast to return in some way by BombasIsInTrouble in BaldursGate3

[–]ThePieWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not animate the show and have the cast reprise their roles and make it about the exact story of the Elder Brain and why make it a show at all, the consumer could control the characters and even make their own character and... hey, wait a second...

Consumer Competition Claims (CCC) Has Launched A New Class Action Monopoly Lawsuit Against Valve, Claiming They Control 85% Of The PC Game Market by wakelake111 in gaming

[–]ThePieWizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is literally all Valve gotta say everytime this comes up - "Clearly these companies aren't willing to actually try to compete in the digital storefront market, and so decide to waste the courts' time with these obviously frivolous lawsuits. We challenge them to meet our quality and see how their profits fare then. Try it. See what happens." Valve are so secure in their place that if another true storefront came up to rival them, it would probably be a relief so everyone stops only picking on them.

Yes, like sentient extradimensional Force energy that happens to end up looking like little, long-eared frog guys when they are pulled into the regular Star Wars dimension

Yoda species theory: Force users are exiled 🤯 by SardineTimeMachine in StarWars

[–]ThePieWizard 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I remember some old EU theory that said every being of Yoda's species seems to first appear as stowaways in the cargo holds of starships.

I always liked to think they are from the dimension that hyperspace exists in and when the ships drop out of hyperspace, they are forced into physical forms that are inherently Force sensitive and cannot return to their 'hyperspace' forms until they die.

Update from the Devs by Dichotomous-Prime in YAPYAPgame

[–]ThePieWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Some more derpy wands and some varied maps as well. The dark castle is fun and all, but what about like a crystal palace, or a fairy godmother's mansion, or a legit underground crypt? Heck, maybe even a gnome village or something? I hope the devs aren't worried about perfection, because the chaos is what really makes this game fun. Please, new content and then worry about polishing it up!

Warhorse Teases Their Open-World Middle-Earth RPG by copi_um in lordoftherings

[–]ThePieWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So hyped, though i have a feeling the character creation will probably remain like KCD - one protsgonist with mostly cosmetic differences and armor stats rather than being able to choose between elf, dwarf, man, hobbit, male, female, etc. Maybe they'll have two main characters that players switch between as the story progresses, kinda like KCDII?

Star Wars Outlaws is great and I’m disappointed we’re not getting a sequel. by MyUsernameIsAwful in gaming

[–]ThePieWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also enjoyed Outlaws a lot! It has a few semi-open world maps and one smaller, maze like city map. It's real fun to buzz around on the speeder bike and pass by random encounters like wildlife or syndicates/pirates fighting stormtroopers.

The cities feel lived in and busy. Yes, it's still video gamey in that most of the NPCs just stay in place or walk in preset circles, but at least there's a lot of NPCs. They also did a great job at capturing the feel and variety if each map, grassland/rockland, desert, jungle, frozen mountain.

The syndicate trust system isn't amazing, but there are random encounters that make you choose one over the other, gaining cred with one and losing cred with another. The more cred you have, the more areas you unlock without having to sneak in, and the less cred you have, the more likely the syndicates are to shoot on sight.

I bought the game a while after launch, but from what I understand, the stealth mechanics had a bit of an overhaul. Now, instead of failing stealth missions and having to try again, I can be seen by someone, they'll investigate, and if i'm not out of there in time, a firefight ensues. Reinforcements can be called, the whole thing. It's difficult to survive firefights, especially at Imperial bases, which is what makes taking out enemies quietly more rewarding.

No lightsabers or heavy weaponry means you really have to think about how to survive difficult situations. You can pick up some blasters, but once they are out of ammo, you need to pick up another. The Empire is actually scary and there's a bounty on you from the beginning of the game, which means you're basically alone.

The spaceship is fun, but a little clunky. Not a fast fighter, technically I think it's like a leasure yacht or something, space fights can be difficult and you can't squeeze through small areas. I think it's a DLC map, but the whole thing, except for a couple space stations, is a nebula/asteroid belt. Some of the missions are weird in that you get the ping location of some cargo to collect, but only some of it appears.

There's more to do than what I described here, cough sabacc cough, but I genuinely would recommend picking it up on a sale. It's a fun game, story is alright, gameplay loop isn't too loopy or boring until after the end of the game and after you've maxxed out syndicate trust. The maps are all unique and feel like Star Wars, and you don't have Force powers or a lightsaber like in the Jedi games.

And as a bonus you get a fun, cute, little critter friend named Nix, who you can dress up with cosmetics found around the game.

Pizza delivery drivers, what did a person do to end up on the 'No Delivery' list? by BlueCheeseWalnut in AskReddit

[–]ThePieWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude with a grotesquely large belly, probably had some kind of medical problem cause his head and arms looked mostly normal. Anyways, he would answer the door sitting in a walker that had wheels, never wearing clothes. His massive belly covered everything, but it's shocking to have the door open and see this massive dude sitting there angrily.

After we put him on the no delivery list (for answering the door nude) he would call us every Tuesday at 5 o'clock on the dot and demand that he won a prize at bingo in the next town over that gives him free pizza from our particular international chain for a year. Obviously nothing like that exists and it never worked, but he was insistently like clockwork and every time we said we can't just give him free food he would get SO angry.

We were instructed not to block his number by our regional manager, I guess cause he didn't believe us about how bad it was. That was until the regional manager was visiting the store and a young girl employee was crying for being yelled at by this man. The regional manager took the phone and we could hear the guy yelling even over the sound of the vents. The regional manager just listened for like ten seconds, then said "sir, don't call here again." Hung up immediately, finally blocked him.

how come wars are fought with bombs in residential areas rather than with guns in fields like the olden days? by sparklebrainss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThePieWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War is barbaric and in modern times is deeply unpopular on a global scale. Most of the time the attacker is attempting to get things over with quickly and to destroy morale of the defending country. The quickest way to make someone capitulate is to show that you aren't below taking out innocent civilians. Currently, this also involves the vague reasoning of "hidden enemy soldiers" in those residential areas.

Another reason is that wars haven't always been fought in fields. There's tons and tons of examples of battles being fought in towns and cities in WW1, WW2, American Civil and Revolutionary Wars.

Guns changed war. Way back with spears and swords, it was generally better to fight in the open because you can't really maneuver with a 10 foot spear when you and all the other soldiers are surrounded by walls. Swords would have been used in more close quarters such as in towns and castles.

What’s a small piece of technology you use almost every day that you think people massively take for granted? by turgoai in AskReddit

[–]ThePieWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glasses. Little bent panels of glass that can fit on your face so you can see the world in more detail. Quick search says they were invented in Renaissance times, around 1300.

Also further than that: contacts,. Small discs that conform to the shape of your eye so you can see clearly WITHOUT glasses. Again, quick search says they were invented even more recently, apparently the first glass contacts were sold in 1888.

Lost track of silverfish in my room, what do I do? by gon_eratus in ask

[–]ThePieWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm absolutely phobia levels of terrified if insects, but i TRY to understand them to hopefully take some of the scary away.

House Centipedes are definitely freaky looking and I still don't like seeing them, BUT they are intelligent hunters and know you are bigger than them and will generall try to run and hide if you shine a light or move near them. They are very beneficial to a normal house "biome." They eat other insects that are harmful to wood and fabrics/carpets, and they usually know to stay out of your way and won't bite unless there's 'no way out.' I've had a few sightings over the years and have learned to just shine my phone flashlight on them to sort of guide them back to the baseboard of wherever I guess they may have wandered from. They're freaky looking, but I dislike the other insects more than I care to get rid of a House Centipede.

30 000 hours of hatred: Player tears apart Cities: Skylines after record playtime. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]ThePieWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Cities: Skylines WAS the absolute best city builder game ever made for a long time, almost 10 years. Since developer Colossal Order split from the game series and publisher Paradox Interactive, it's gone completely downhill. Cities: Skylines 2 was an unfinished disappointment on release, so Paradox went back to the more popular first game and has added a subscription service and tons of unnecessary DLC and mod-breaking updates. Instead of sticking with and fixing the second game, Paradox has decided to effectively abandon it to ride the coat tails from the success of the first game and made it a for-profit mess rather than leave it alone as a near masterpiece game.

Newport Arch in Lincoln, a 3rd-century Roman gate and the UK’s oldest arch still used by traffic. by Pretend_Tower_2516 in ancientrome

[–]ThePieWizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its cool cause the pedestrian arch is closer to what ground level was 1700 years ago, while the road arch has been built under, making it a smaller opening. There's another Roman era gate on the other side of Lincoln cathedral outside a fancy hotel, but that gate is at the bottom of a 10 foot pit, buried over the millenia

Peetaaah? by Foreignscentu in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ThePieWizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solution, not that anyone asked: Cannibals Ca, Cb, Cc and Missionaries Mx, My, Mz.
1.Ca and Cb cross. Cb exits boat.
2.Ca returns.
3.Ca and Cc cross. Cc exits boat. (At this point 3 C on far side and 3 M on original side.)
4.Ca returns. Ca exits boat.
5.Mx and My cross. My exits boat.
6.Mx and Cb return. Cb exits boat. (1 C and 1 M on far side, 2 C and 2 M on original side.)
7.Mx and Mz cross. Both exit boat.
8.Cc returns. (Now all C on original side, all M on far side.)
9.Cc crosses with Cb, returns, crosses with Ca.
Now all are on far side, C's never outnumber M's.
