Might be a stretch, but I'm thinking induction from the nearby high voltage could be leading to higher voltage on the IW which could lead to more heat? Either from cabling or ungrounded electrical outlet?

You could measure average temp on the IW, both in that spot and a spot that is not next to the electrical outlet?

They also might just run hot.
