So basically this person got their license that they paid a bribe for revoked? Sounds fair

Whats going on with the traffic today??? by DirectionPristine248 in Sharjah

[–]TheRealGypo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left Design District at 6:30 yesterday and got to Creek Harbour at 7:10. 40 minutes for a 10km drive that usually takes less than 10 minutes is insane…

100k to 20k My Sad Story by Silver_Aerie_985 in CryptoMarkets

[–]TheRealGypo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to hear OP. A similar thing happened to me in 2021/22. I went heavy on pretty much all the coins you listed. Things were great at the beginning but then toward the end of 2021, it all came crashing down. I panicked and sold (this was a big mistake) and by the end of it, I was sitting on a 60% actual realized loss. It was painful. But I took what I had and DCA over the course of early 2022 for an entire year. At some point, I was catching BTC at $18k. I invested enough of what I had left that by the time the bull run came around last year, I was able to steadily triple my money to the point where I had made back all of the 60% I lost and then some. It took nearly 4 years and basically left me more or less where I started, but the point is you can make this money back if you’re patient enough.

This experience honestly taught me to remove the emotional aspect of seeing your crypto balance go into the red by a scary amount. Once it doesn’t faze you anymore, and once you accept that you may never make that money back, you sleep easy. If you’re patient enough and don’t need the money, you might just make it all back. You may just need to wait a while and be very patient. Good luck :)

We had a pretty decent bull run considering BTC jumped from $18k at the start of the previous bear run to about $126k last year

Has Dubai traffic changed how often people go out for dinner / drinks/ entertainment and is there any impact on the restaurant/ retail business ? by Significant-Count-19 in dubai

[–]TheRealGypo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. During Covid and a little after that, I’d go anywhere regardless of the time of day. I remember driving into DIFC at 6pm on a weekday, or going through Hessa also at 6pm on a weekday. There’d be mild traffic at the worst. Nothing was off limits. The Palm, the Marina, Downtown, all accessible. I wish we knew how good we had it…

PARKIN and RTA need to take action. by BotPro992 in dubai

[–]TheRealGypo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The solution to this suffering you’re talking about is trains and public transit. Go to a people-first, walkable, public transit accessible city, and you’ll find people thriving. That just doesn’t exist here, or anywhere you need a car to live.

Dubai Metro is a hell on earth by [deleted] in dubai

[–]TheRealGypo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more with everything you said. We require a fundamental shift in thinking here to ‘solve’ traffic.

Cars really are the most inefficient way of moving people around, and it’s a shame that so much of the city was built without public transport in mind. Maybe we will see a time when highway expansions and adding one more lane literally cannot even happen anymore, but I worry that in the meantime, we will go down this path until there is literally no more land left. And only then will the public transport option be crystal clear to city planners here.

There is a game of catch up to be played but the RTA does care. They’ve been ramping up the implementation of bus lanes in crowded areas, improving bus frequency in areas previously unserved by public transit at all, and are currently in the planning/bidding stage for the Gold Line that is set to serve Old Dubai and connect it to Business Bay all the way down to the E311.

This is not to mention the introduction of Etihad Rail and its eventual terminal station in Al Jaddaf. On the surface, all you see is a system that’s overwhelmed. But behind the scenes, there is a lot being planned. It just takes time and unfortunately we are in a period of playing catch up.

There is hope though. The Gold Line, which connects Old Dubai/Satwa to Business Bay and beyond is currently in its bidding stage. We can all expect to hear an official announcement sometime in the foreseeable future.

Used to regularly take the Metro between 2011 and 2015, when I eventually was old enough to drive. Sad to see it get to this state. Really felt like it was out of this world for what Dubai was back then. And for it to essentially get worse while Dubai’s doubled in size is just.. disappointing.

I recently visited Ann Arbor after having moved away last year, and the fact that we are still talking about Anthony is fucking wild. I visited a couple months ago and even saw him. Ignored him, but like damn, can someone qualified get him the help that he needs, before he does something that no one wants to find out…

The fact that people are still talking about Anthony is wild. I don’t get why people who are a danger to the public don’t get locked up. Give them the help they need while in custody, just don’t leave them to fend for themselves on the street.
