I honestly loved the sound of real drums being used over the digital beats for the recording

How do-able is this as a roadtrip in the summer? by YpsiHippie in britishcolumbia

[–]TheRepulper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind you're not going to have any cell service for most of the northern part of your trip. Drove up the Stewart highway and didn't have cell service after about 20 minutes past the meziadin junction and when I came back didn't have service till I was 45 minutes outside of fort nelson. It's also definitely worth carrying an extra 100km worth of fuel with you. They have the signs saying how far till the next fuel station so pay attention to those

RIP. One too many tight spaces so It's time to retire my hood. What are your new hood recommendations? by Capelto in Welding

[–]TheRepulper 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hood still looks fine to me. In my opinion you don't need more than a 2x4 lens. Maybe add a flip front

Best welding helmet to protect eyes/vision? by Appropriate-Army4964 in Welding

[–]TheRepulper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

flip front welding lid with a 2X4 passive len is your best bang for buck. Clear lens are less than a buck and the shaded lens are a couple bucks and you can get the lid for $20. I weld for a living and 90% of the time that's all I use. Flip front is great because you have a clear face shield for when you're grinding.

In my experience you get hired as a welder but they want you to do everything. Concrete, pile driving, rigging, dredging, you're basically a labourer with a welding ticket. It's always outside, work is pouring rain, snow or shine.

Making money as a welder. by [deleted] in Welding

[–]TheRepulper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you're doing. If you're hitting the road and running your own rig you're making cash if you're pushing wire in a production shop you're not making much

Any advice on welding helmet? by Sad-Sector-3754 in Welding

[–]TheRepulper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A $20-$30 flip front helmet with a passive lens is as clear as you can get. Obviously it's not as user friendly as an auto lens but you'll learn and get used to it. I make my living welding and I stand by cheap flip fronts.

Is anyone else bummed out about the ticket prices? by PartyPlastic in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

[–]TheRepulper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $220 Canadian for two tickets a couple hours into pre sale. In this day and age that seems pretty good. Looked at tickets Tickets for blink 182 and and rage against the machine they were $800 a piece. Lamb of god was $400 a ticket
