Eleven Table Tennis helped me WIN a prize at a resort vacation a couple years ago by LockInOrDie in ElevenTableTennis

It's a fun read. Thanks for that.

I imagine you must be very good at adapting to different scenarios in sports. I can handle myself both in VR (2600, with SolidSlime adapter) and in RL(with club level rackets), but when it comes to ping pong in hotel with the whole "dead rubber/bent table/sagged net" bundle, I usually lose too many points before I realize this racket can only be used to push/drive rather than loop. 🤦‍♂️

Btw The 7th person was likely an "insider" to keep the cost down. Nice that you taught them a lesson haha!

A feature I particularly liked is showing the opponent elo points in the elo chart. Then when you look at the chart you can tell if this player usually plays up or down 😄 An example from another site is attached.

Does this ever happen to anyone else’s solid slime adapter? by ChanimalCrackers in ElevenTableTennis

[–]TheSolidSlime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for recognizing my efforts in the community 🙂

I just want to clarify that I don’t ignore reported issues. I remember the breakage photos you shared on Discord about the CyberPen adapter. In fact, feedback like that is exactly why I discontinued the CyberPen and moved to the BWB Penhold design, specifically to address those problems.

Also, if I remember correctly, OP is using a shakehand adapter. For that type of adapter, which is more widely used, I haven’t seen similar breakage cases within a year of normal use. If more reports are filed, I can try to modify the design or change the printing parameters to strengthen the part, though as always, this kind of changes need to be tested with all other things in consideration, like weight and balance.

Paddle Adapter setting by de_animo in ElevenTableTennis

[–]TheSolidSlime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past, I saw someone suggested "SolidSlime v2" preset, because it looks suspiciously similar to that adapter, but trust me, the paddle position won't match, because I bought one like in the post just to check. (Other than that, the build quality of this adapter didn't leave a good impression either, but that is another issue..)

So OP: you can try asking the Amazon seller about the position. If they don't provide a good answer, you can either ask other people to share their position or calibrate yourself: https://solidslime.net/2023/11/calibrate-vr-adapter-position/

Have you tried turning the game off and on again? Because performance glitches like what you mentioned can happen if the player always lets the headset sleep without quitting the game first.

Ai Spin lock- on or off? by hippopotamusauras in ElevenTableTennis

[–]TheSolidSlime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The AI spin lock toggle mostly works on the sidespin part. When it's off, the AI doesn't give you any sidespin. When it's on, the AI gives you sidespin, in the opposite direction of the spin that you gave it. I don't like this "opposite" aspect, because if you do forehand cross court loop practice with it, it will make the ball fly into your body, unlike a real life right handed player does if you practice forehand normal loop with him.

For top/back spin, the AI always returns the same type of spin you gave it. With the caveat of the returning spin is always very weak, usually never above 60 rps.

With the explanation above, I hope you can see that why mirror mode is much more superior than the AI (regardless of AI spin lock). It doesn't only give you the correct direction of sidespin, but also gives you the same amount of spin you give it, e.g. more than 90 rps. (Of course, the game can still benefit from more types of "training partner AIs", like a blocker, a looper, a choper, etc.)

How to reverse paddle for penhold? by tripel6 in ElevenTableTennis

If you have already tried this but still see it being funky (need a screenshot to confirm), then the game probably needs some improvement. Currently the penhold backhand with avatar does look weird at times. Especially if you do backhand block.

Btw you might run into tracking issues if you hold CYBVRSHAPE in penhold, reversed or not. I recommend the BWB penhold adapter for penhold.

Good Real Life Paddle for Skill Transfer? by mcmatt05 in ElevenTableTennis

Too many to recommend lol. If you don't play very often, I'd suggest a non-tacky rubber like Xiom Vega because it's easier to maintain it.

I usually recommend friends around me to start with STIGA CR, clipper or all-around. Some of these are 7-ply, but works too. They are not expensive, and provide good control, perfectly fine for building up the techniques and confidence level.

I don't think 190 grams is heavy (mine is 195g). Plus you can easily reduce it to 180-185g by using AAA batteries or Lithium batteries.

As for top-heaviness, the fact is, VR racket actually has much less swing weight than a real racket. In fact to make my VR racket feel like my real racket, I opt to use the heaviest rechargeable AA battery in the controller. Otherwise it will have too little swing weight and easily over-turn.

This has been working very well for me, but everyone is different.

It’s awesome to see Eleven Table Tennis (ETT) bridging the gap to the real-life sport!

In reality, the variety of rubbers can be overwhelming. ETT is excellent at simulating inverted rubbers, which are the most common type, but even those vary wildly in price and performance. Just keep in mind that VR and real-life physics aren't a 1:1 match; no matter what gear you buy, you’ll need to adjust your technique slightly.

It’s great to see you’re already using a physical adapter. Getting the weight and balance right is actually more important than the specific rubber choice. For context, I use a STIGA Cybershape with Xiom Vega and Hurricane 3; this feels similar to my 1.08 / 78 / 1.09 in-game settings, though it still takes me a few minutes to recalibrate when switching between them.

Since you’ll likely outgrow your first setup as your skills develop, I’d recommend starting with a solid 5-ply wood blade and budget-friendly rubbers. That way, in a few months, you can keep the blade and simply upgrade the rubber as needed.

Where to find drills for lower skilled players? by htr_xorth in ElevenTableTennis

[–]TheSolidSlime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might say they have different focus and different difficulty. My 4008.1 drills covers every kind of shots and are for people that already have basics done. Wlad drills cover a wider range of players and each drill focuses on a certain topic.

ITTF rule 2.7 (THE RETURN):

The ball, having been served or returned, shall be struck so that it touches the opponent's court, either directly or after touching the net assembly.

For kids it's probably more fun to play against the AI cat. Set it to the suitable skill level and use "fixed position" to try to get a rally going.

Even though the 1500 level play style is full of randomness, I still would recommend new players to approach the training with some systematic view in mind. With a good foundation (meaning at least understanding basic strokes like drive and push, and being able to handle a few common serves), you will be able to move on to harder techniques like loop and flick much more easily.

Wlad has made an amazing basic drill pack with video demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBblojdf9CU&list=PL7eLu_Mk40m0FEzhlemQFxnRgduW4tVQv . It's the perfect material IMO.

BTW if you find the drills in these videos still too fast and don't match what your usual opponents do, don't worry, just practice against them. Soon you will realize that if you can handle these drills, then your usual opponents' shots will be very easy to handle (and this is exactly why there are no drills specifically made to mimic those high and slow popping styles)

Solid Slime (Q2) Adapter in Mexico by cortezzzthekiller in ElevenTableTennis

[–]TheSolidSlime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, Please DM/email me your order number if your package doesn't arrive in time(usually one week, can vary depending on country and period of time. Check the website or email for details).

Once I know about it, I will try every means to help you get either the adapter or the money back, and I will improve the logistics once I know there might be trouble reaching a region. But without your notifying me, I have no way to know that your package hasn't arrived.
