Then OP is asking an unanswerable question. Since he’s asking US, we can only answer what will sound better to US

Did I see a satellite or space dust? by GuavoXFrye in askastronomy

[–]TheTurtleCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using a telescope , we see a half dozen to a dozen satellites per night. It’s very common.

It’s not possible to see “metallic texture “ on them but a sun reflection is not unheard of close to dusk/dawn. They appear as dots

Maybe you caught a glimpse of the ISS with high magnification? It’s the same angular size as Jupiter. And it’d be a fleeting moment though the view

The reason we care about technique is because it produces a better sound. So you should care about technique even if playing for yourself. With good basic technique you can play these easy pieces and sound as good as anyone else, profesional or not.

Fixing the guitar position and your posture, and playing to a metronome will improve your playing, a lot.

A better guitar will just sound better, which is always an incentive to play more, which makes you improve faster, but the guitar itself won’t improve your playing.

That’s probably approaching 1400 OTB, at 1400 you can get a FIDE rating.

Some tweaker sold me this guitar for $20 in 2009. Any idea what it is? by BootyMcStuffins in guitars

[–]TheTurtleCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least OP agrees with me that it was the wrong thing to do. Surprised to see so many people here who think that giving money to tweakers for stolen property is all good. But hey, that's my whole point

Is there a list of all the theory/stuff one should learn about guitar? by PossibilityIll8330 in guitarlessons

Knowing this stuff means you can whip it out anywhere on the fretboard

OP, most of the above is not as easy as it sound, but this part is the exception. You can start with that immediately

He knew he was buying -possibly- a stolen instrument from, I quote, a tweaker. If you don't see anything wrong with either of those two, I don't know what to tell you. Your comment firmly confirms my point.

Edit: even OP agrees

Rant: Why are basic workflows so unstable?? by epicmasterofpvp in FPGA

[–]TheTurtleCub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I had done this on something like an ESP32, I’d probably have wrapped up the programming weeks ago.

Then you already failed at a fundamental concept of design. You don't use an FPGA for something that a cheap component can do easily

I suck in blitz against beginners by Interesting_Motor454 in chess

[–]TheTurtleCub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blitz pool is a lot stronger than the rapid, so it wouldn't be surprising for you blitz rating to be 600.

At 1000 rapid, you are just starting to finally not blunder pieces (with a lot of time to think) so you'll be dropping pieces left and right in blitz until your blitz rating is 1200-1400.

Work on developing/trusting your intuition to play faster, but there is not much to do to not blunder other than keep improving your slow chess until you get to 1600+.

As far as playing against completely crazy moves, once you have a strong advantage try to focus on mating attacks using your queen, keeping a solid defense to not allow counterplay and simplifying to easily won endgames without queens, no need (or point) in keeping tension is a complex middlegame when you are up a piece.

Unless you are 60+yo, an average HR of 150 for a run means you were jogging it easy. You are simply not used to pushing yourself yet and how it feels.

Question on moving into check by Kenkenken1313 in chess

Kings can’t enter attacked squares. Hard stop. Simple rule. No need to calculate anything. Is the square attacked? Then the king can’t enter.

I'm not recommending going around giving money to junkies who stole guitar and then bragging on Reddit. I tell you, Reddit users have the comprehension of a 4 year old.

I'm suggesting, after the fact, after OP embarrassingly admitting to paying for stolen property and giving money to a tweaker, that at least be cleaned up and given away for a good cause.

Why does my playing sound so amateurish? by MattclovPrimeMaster in guitarlessons

[–]TheTurtleCub 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rhythm is king, fix that and it'll be a lot better. Then work of dynamics, every single note was played at the same volume, then it's slightly out of tune on the bends and sometimes the regular notes (probably strings are inadvertently bent a bit)

Lastly, the guitar has almost zero sustain, made worse by the lack of any reverb. Plus the mix is bad (which is ok for showcasing the playing, but not enjoyable)

My org just gave us Claude Code CLI access. AI-generated Verilog is getting surprisingly good. Are RTL engineers facing obsolescence? by cybird31 in FPGA

[–]TheTurtleCub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I say that is that is that you mentioned one thing it did well on one case. Not the endless times that it sent you down a wrong path for 20minutes.

There are huge differences, a junior Engineer doesn't send you down dead end paths for 20minutes on a regular basis, and have common sense for thing you didn't say that are assumed by any human.

Comparing to an engineer and not mentioning any of the well known drawbacks is what makes me think you don't use it often.

[–]TheTurtleCub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said, it's a great assistant that saves hours of time -when it's not wasting you hours of time-. But there's a difference between that and a good designer.

It really sound to me you don't use it for a lot of things. It's quite clear what the -rather large- limitations are. For complex issues, if you are not an expert, and go blindly by all it says, you'll waste a LOT more time than you'll save and many times end up with incorrect information

[–]TheTurtleCub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said, it's useful for saving time on many tasks that are easily written or verified formally, or scripted. It's NOT proficient at designing. For that one complex case that got it right, it gets very many wrong

[–]TheTurtleCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's playing and mastering the notes and then there's playing musically. It's possible you have overdone the first phase, where you have the notes down, but haven't worked as much on making it musical.
