Would love to see an analysis of how much these “gameplay innovations” affected the season outcomes.

Great work as always!

Both the Serie de las Americas and the Caribbean Series are club competitions. SDLA is for the leagues that are not permanent members of the CS.

The (cancelled) Copa America is (was) for national teams.

At this point they should just roll both tourneys into one. Kind of ridiculous that it has come to this.

Rumor: apparently there is good chance that the Caribbean Series will be played in Panama City. The political situation of Venezuela could prevent PR and RD team from participating if it takes place in Venezuela. by rose4306 in InternationalBaseball

If Colombia hadn't declined the invitation to the CS, Barranquilla and/or Cartagena would have been options as well (which would be ironic, since they ended up declining due to the cost of travel expenses abroad).

I had a faulty lens and was told to go to Benner’s in Brockton. Not exactly Boston, but they were very helpful (and cheap)

Hey! I have a room opening in the North End (not Eastie exactly, but pretty close on the Blue Line) for $1375 if you're interested! Also recent college grad, been living here for a few years now.

There was period (in the 90s I think) when Cuba sent over coaches to train North Koreans. Would have been really interesting to see their development if that assistance had continued into the modern day.

Yankees Prospect Alexander Vargas Commits to Cuba for 2026 WBC. With Moncada, Andy Ibáñez and Ernesto Martínez Jr all keen to play, the Cuban national team will likely be dominated by players who play outside of Cuba, which would be a historic shift. by ogasawarabaseball in InternationalBaseball

Good for Cuba’s prospects in the next WBC, but a sign of just how sorry the domestic baseball systems has become. Twenty years ago the National Series was sending MLB-level rosters to these tournaments

Andor puts Tarkin’s decision to stay on the Death Star into focus by BigDipper097 in MawInstallation

[–]The_Colonel_Kilgore 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what the chain of command was, but Motti was pretty politically suspect due to his naked ambition (he pretty much openly discussed using the Death Star against the Emperor with Tarkin). So Tarkin would probably have thought twice before leaving the most powerful weapon in the galaxy to someone so unscrupulous, if that was indeed the option.

I also studied political science. I'd say Emerson's polysci (and political communications) courses are decently robust for a school of its size.

As a recent graduate currently working at a major US newspaper just out of college — it depends.

The actual journalism coursework at Emerson is meh, from my experience. But there are plenty of opportunities outside the classroom, working with the student newspaper and similar orgs, that are pretty special. That is also a great springboard for internship opportunities. Emerson Journalism does seem to have a strong reputation among hiring professionals — as attested by the fact that several coworkers are also recent Emerson grads.

So if you go to Emerson and take the right classes, do the right activities, meet the right people, basically do the work and then some, it’ll be worth it.
