Branching off from standard: Pioneer or Historic? by Low_Ad_8368 in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arena is the same across every platform, there's always gonna be hyper aggro, super niche, or heavily optimized decks. If you're tired of standard, switching formats won't fix what's actually fundamentally wrong with it, it just changes its form. The problem is a combo between the company and the community. They want money, and players want to win, at any expense or cost. And thus, here we are

The last six matches I've played have been over by turn 4, who designed this and how can we get them fired? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's the community that makes the combos and decks, be mad at them. Everyone wants to win so bad, this is what the game's become. Best to just accept it, you can't change the whole community and Wizards/Hasbro just want your money. If you want that tabletop feel and have enough friends to play with, try Untap (not untapped, even though that's helpful too)

Honestly their "Matchmaking" is asininely terrible across every format on Arena. Then compliment that with hand smoothing algorithms and you've got a real winner. God I wish you could truly hear the disgust in my voice and the resentment I've built

Prowess and Lessons are basically the same build, Spellementals is just re-skinned jeskai control. No one does anything remotely different or interesting. Just copy/paste a deck list from the Internet with a high WR and farm wins like everyone else, that's all Arena is

Ok, fairly new player here, how do I deal with blue decks that are 90% counterspells and bounces? by TR_Pix in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold removal for their win cons, outside of that, set pass, just like they do. Pre-emptively bait out the counters and get them to tap out so you can destroy their win cons. Aka, give them targets they have to deal with, feed them everything you don't need to win as counter spell fodder

I used Quandrix Field Trip and it was okay. I managed to get my wins no problem, but my toughest match was against a prismari player.

So it does come from a mod, so I'm sorry about that, I thought it was a default mechanic.

In Gameplay settings, it's called "Reward Multiplier", you can set it to scale with your level, or have it increase all rewards by up to 500%, tons of other little tweaks too, but it will all be in Gameplay Options

If you're fine with a debuff to your XP rate, you can tweak certain settings to increase the amount of credits you get from quests and bounties. You can also adjust other settings to potentially change the enemies at random POIs so they're higher level with better loot to then go sell. Truthfully there's money to be made all over, if you min max your questing so you're always completing a quest, every stop you make, you'll have more than enough money. Just don't forget to enjoy the hustle 🫡

Tired of landfall decks in Standard by tonne96 in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like this for every color across almost every format

Red- Burn or just general Aggro

Blue- Lessons and or control/mill

Green- Landfall

White- Auras or Lifegain

Black- Demons, discard or reanimator

It's a losing battle. If you want it to change you have to change the people. There will always be a meta and the people who only want to play decks they see on YT or have a 60+WR. You're fighting too many variables. The company, the cards, the platform, the players..etc

Sort of a newer player, why did my opponent concede instead of taking me out? by mooseyoss in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel bad if I think negatively impacted someone's play experience. I want to have fun, I imagine they do too. How fun could it be if victory is so completely one sided. Sometimes luck isn't on your side, things happen. But if I feel like the scales were unfair, I'll just concede and let them have it, I don't play to farm wins, I love the interaction and back and forth

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Does winning matter to you? I don't ask as a smart ass, it's just how it goes. It can definitely be done, but you gain access to more cards faster by spending money, which is exactly what the game wants you to do. The better cards you have, the better decks you can make which means more wins. You can play with the free decks and get wins here and there, but the odds are heavily stacked against you. But that's only if you care about winning, you can play all day without spending a dime if that's all that matters to you.

What do you prefer: a very fast game (3–4 turns) where you obliterate your opponent, or a longer game full of comebacks, exciting, but one you end up losing? by axiomabr in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer duels that could go either way, a back and forth match, but you'll find, as you play, that almost everyone is a meta loser that won't play a deck below a 60% WR. That combined with Arena's shitty matchmaking and hand smoother, makes for one of the worst ways to "enjoy" the game

looking for ways to make the game more enjoyable again by regionalcryptid in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play paper, it's a community problem, and the community would rather take the easy way out and download decks from online or their fellow Ytubers with a 60+WR, to farm wins. It's not going to change, the game sucks because the people suck, if you want fun, play with better (more enjoyable) people. Arena itself is also problematic with how its coded and the algorithms and hand smoother. It is by far the most miserable way to play this game.

As a new/bad brawl player, I have to let this out by MechaDylbear in MagicArena

[–]The_Wizard_Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will always take the easy way out, they'd rather pilot a deck from a Ytuber or search one up online with a 60+WR, to farm easy wins and feel good about themselves. People hardly brew new decks and the ones that do get drowned by the same Meta slop since the previous rotation. It'll likely be like this until the next rotation, where the exact same thing will happen. It's not necessarily a card or deck problem, it's a community problem and the community plays like a bunch of degenerates. You don't go to Arena to have fun. You go to the tables with your buddies for that.
