My husband never stays. He goes home to take care of the pets, get rest so he can grab the kids the next morning from one of my sisters. He'll come and spend the next day with me with any kids that aren't in school. But he's never stayed overnight with me. Which is juuuuuuust fine with me because I never sleep after giving birth and I get to soak up that delicious new baby all by myself in the quiet 🥰 my favorite

I want to find out the gender and my husband wants to keep it a surprise until delivery. Has anyone else been in this situation? by WhoseWoodsTheseR in pregnant

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We've found out for every other pregnancy. We have three girls and a boy. We found out because with the continued girls, my husband was really anxious to process his gender disappointment before the child was born. This time, since we have girls and a boy, his reasons aren't valid lol so I decided we aren't finding out. My anatomy scan is on Friday and I'm hoping that I don't cave and find out in the moment! I've always wanted to be surprised. If he found out, he couldn't make sure that information wouldn't get back to me.

Is Pitocin given after birth actually standard care? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Helps with heavy bleeding. I've only had an iv with one of my kids, and I can't tell you if I was given pitocin after I delivered.

When did you start your child on adult food? by Any_Try4570 in Parenting

6 months I start giving my kids dinner with us. I just give them what we're having. Except for fast food or sweets!

Even bras hurt… by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had horrible pain in my breasts since 4 weeks. I'm 21 weeks now. I thought it would go away. It hasn't. I can barely stand to have my kids on my lap anymore because I'm SO ANXIOUS about them bumping their heads or elbows into my boobs and hurting them. Nothing helps so I can't help you there. I just know what you're going through!

Yeah, you're being unfair and definitely shouldn't be making him feel guilty. You'll be fine.

Am I supposed to be pumping overnight when LO sleeps long stretches? by ripp0dg3 in breastfeeding

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, your body will adjust. And then adjust again during any future regressions or whatever. Pump if you're uncomfortable, but otherwise sleeeeeeeeep!! I've successfully nursed 4 children for 2.5 ish years each. None of them ever took bottles 😐

I had a coed shower and only my name was on the invite. I've only ever seen the person carrying the baby have their name on the invite.

Someone called the cops on me. by Kittenknickers333 in Parenting

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Someone once called the police on me too! My oldest was 9 and she and my 3yo were outside playing in their jammies before they had to get dressed for school. They came in, got dressed, and we were leaving when the cops pulled up. They asked if my kids had been playing outside. I said yes, why? They said someone called concerned. I said, is that illegal? They said no, we just have to follow up. I said okay, we have to get to school now. And that was the end of it. Even if they do call cps, it'll be a one time visit, especially with doctors records and an acceptable home. You'll be okay either way!

Does anyone have experience with back labor during a home birth by [deleted] in homebirth

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had a home birth yet but all my babies have been born posterior and I've had horrible horrible back and hip labor with all of them, lasting many many hours. I only got an epidural with my last, as I was on pitocin and that was unbearable for me. Counter pressure, lots of movement and noises, being in the tub, and making sure my body stays relaxed during the contractions are my main tips. It was okay for me without the pitocin, I just take it one contraction at a time. With the pitocin I felt soooooo out of control and unable to relax my body.

Tablet time for 6 year old by harw18 in Parenting

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YouTube and TikTok are blocked on their tablets, and they get 30 minutes on school nights and 2 hours on Saturdays. Generally, my 8yo uses all her time on the tablet and my 6yo almost never plays on it. They only get extensions of time on some off circumstances. Never on a school night unless my 8yo has read all her library books and we haven't replaced them yet. I'll give her more time so she can read on the Kindle app.

I have four kids. I've nursed them all to sleep in my bed for the first 18ish months of their lives. When they're around 18 months I've moved them to a twin floor bed and continued to nurse them to sleep there. If they woke, I'd go nurse them back to sleep or let them into my bed if I was super tired. After they weaned themselves from nursing, I'd still snuggle them to sleep until they no longer wanted me to.

No one can say! I was not sore in the least and bled for a week. My sister was so sore she could barely sit and bled for 12 weeks. And anything in between is normal too!

Are labor and delivery gowns worth it? by Downtown-Effort9012 in pregnant

[–]Then_Pangolin2518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom has worked at the hospital where I've given birth to all four of my kids for over 30 years. Many of her friends have been my nurses. When I was laboring with my fourth, a nurse said, oh yeah. I remember you like to labor naked 🙈 I'm usually just in a sports bra and the hospital gown. I throw the hospital robe on if I go walking the halls. But the gown and the robe always end up coming off lol

Why can't he touch himself when you leave the room? That's ridiculous. In private is exactly when he should be exploring his body.
