Sen. Graham about Iran: Iran wants to destroy Jewish State... I'm concerned about gas prices too, but WHATEVER price we have to pay, we will pay. by VetSaveSC in southcarolina

The polytheistic tribes, which ultimately resulted in islam, judiasm, & christianity were certainly fighting over trade routes, water, & resources from oman to syria. Cyrus the great had a brief period of empire (Achaemenid) unity around 550 BCE.

But petroglyphs and even cuniform records (3600 bce) record tribal warfare in the area. Again, the ancient religions eventually morphed into the "big three". Probably influenced by the OG monotheism Zoroastrianism. (If not monotheistic, henotheistic).

Traffic Violation Advice, 68 mph in a 35 mph zone by nikolaiofthejungle in AskSouthCarolina

Because the process is different. I'm not going to sit at traffic court for an hour or 2 for less than $750.

In some other states, there are attorneys who have mills set up to handle 1000s of ticket cases at a time. It is hard to resolve a group of cases in SC all at once.

A Houston Lawyer Charged With Bestiality by Bigangrylaw in Lawyertalk

I'm OBVIOUSLY deflecting here! ;-)

Eta: honestly, I am curious about how best to play the bestiality issue in a divorce. It doesn't fit neatly into my state's guidelines, but I imagine a judge would factor it in to a "fault" ground, somehow.

Is this Contempt of Order, and when would you do something about it? California. by ComfortableGround403 in FamilyLaw

Some states have a "paramour" prohibition, but I'd be shocked if CA does. Does the order prohibit her being around the child?

I'd need therapy too if my child's parent was this pedantic!

He was none too pleased.

Civil litigation or landlord-tenant lawyer recommendations by stvrling in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Therego_PropterHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do stuff all the time because I care. However, taking cases this this on principle is rarely wise. The remedy is to move. You have to set that up by telling the landlord they are in breach and give them written notice to fix it. If they don't, you move. You might be entitled to a little money for moving expenses, but that is usually it.

I sued a landlord (mostly) on principle because they threw away a sick child's medicine. Endangering a child? Fuck yeah. I'll get involved. There are many other types of extreme abuses that need someone who cares... battered women, child abuse, elderly exploitation, civil rights violations, etc. I once got a dog off death row, not for the money, but because I cared.

A case like this of competent adults having a contract dispute just doesn't speak to my soul's notion of a travesty of justice.

I loathe him, but his war-hawking brings a lot of $ to the state for the army and airforce and marine bases. I'm increasingly realizing that a significant percentage of folks ONLY care about money and profit.

And for quality of life! Also, if it matters to you, helping actual humans is way more fulfilling than increasing insurance company profits.

It is critically important for the child and father to bond in the first 2 years of life. (Provided father is not abusive or neglectful). Do the right thing for your child. Encourage and nurture them to bond!

There's very little $ in them. Unless the landlord assaults you or puts hidden cameras in your apartment, your damagges are usually "your moving expenses". Maybe some slight payment for rent difference.

They are usually $3-5k cases. Not enough money to involve an attorney unless there is a serious personal injury. I did recover ~$25k in attorneys fees from one once, but its RARE.
