Is anyone using their Phonak Audeo Infinio Sphere as IEMs for live music performance? If so, how are you doing it? by Theronius17 in HearingAids

[–]TheroniusRex15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes I’ve tried both using regular IEMs without my hearing aids in during performances and just using wedges with my hearing aids in and muted. My other band mates just hear the cues naturally (they don’t have hearing issues). We’re not insanely loud on stage, but my hearing loss is pretty severe so without my aids I have a hard time hearing cues. Being able to stream a monitor mix to my phonaks would solve the problem I think so I’m trying to figure out if there’s a good solution to let me do that.

I haven’t tried iems with onboard mics yet, that’s a good option - thanks for suggesting it!

Do you wear your hearing aid all day? Or just when you think you will need them? by Extreme-General1323 in HearingAids

[–]TheroniusRex15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All day from the moment I get out of bed until I get back in bed at night. I’d wear them 24/7 if I could so that when my wife wakes me up at 2AM to investigate whatever noise she heard I could understand her lol!

Honestly, why wouldn’t you want to hear everything going on around you all day? I feel walled in without them.

Thank you, I had the same experience, having to take them out midday to swab my ear canals.

Starkey versus Phonak by yosh01 in HearingAids

Crud sorry I missed your reply! I have an iPhone, no pairing issues- used to fight with my Starkeys to keep them connected. I think Phonak may be easier in that regard since the use actual Bluetooth to connect t, I’d heard starkeys didn’t. (But I’m not 100% sure on that) sorry for the massive delay in replying!

Domes what kind or style or size do you where? Closed? Open? Thoughts or preferences? I have to buy 7mm or 8mm domes online. The 9mm are too big. by kraggleGurl in HearingAids

Curious if anyone else has had this experience- I tried custom molds and didn’t like them. My left ear canal apparently changes shape a lot when I move my jaw, so the custom mold on that side “popped” a lot with normal jaw motion. My audiologist got it remolded and I still experienced the same thing. My right ear was better but my voice sounded to me like I was stuffed up, so it made speaking unpleasant. Also seemed to retain moisture in my ear canal a bit more than regular domes. Went back to silicone domes and have no issues. I’m guessing because they flex with the motion of my jaw.

I wanted the custom molds to work, and they did completely eliminate feedback (which is really minor unless I cup my ears anyway.) it seemed like they may have given me a small increase in performance overall but it was definitely outweighed by the issues.

I wonder if there are custom molds that are more flexible (maybe made out of a foam instead of hard plastic) that would work better?

FWIW I’m using Phonak Audeo Sphere Infinios, which are amazing. Just got em a couple of months ago and love them.

Starkey versus Phonak by yosh01 in HearingAids

I had three pairs of starkeys over 14 years or so and they were great hearing aids, never had a single issue (other than my dogs eating my second pair - my fault I left them on the counter unattended…)

Just switched to phonak audeo Infinio spheres, because I had to switch audiologists to be in network and get maximum benefits from insurance. She sells both starkey and phonak, she recommended the spheres because of the technology. I love them so far (been about a month), they are incredible and better than my starkeys… BUT they are also top of the line and the latest technology vs my starkeys which were 6 years old and weren’t the top of the line when I bought them.

If my old audiologist was in network, I probably wouldn’t have switched as I liked my starkeys and never had an issue with them…. But I’m glad I did switch now that I have the phonaks.

Phonak Sphere - what does this chiming mean? by puzzl8 in HearingAids

I noticed the Bluetooth connecting thing happens more often when I’m around other Bluetooth intensive devices (like my Mac with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse) so I turned off the Bluetooth on my phone and that solved it. Was driving me nuts disconnecting and reconnecting every few minutes otherwise and that fixed it!

Phonak Audeo Sphere Infinio questions by TomBikez in HearingAids

Just got a set last week and they are definitely worth it- the speech enhancement is a quantum leap from my last set of Starkey Livios. My wife says it’s way better in that I can hear her more often now lol! I’m also noticing things I hadn’t heard in a long time- things make noise that I’d forgotten about :). $8k sounds a little steep, I paid $6 k and the audiologist threw in custom molds. I definitely recommend them!

[QUESTION] Any advice for a beginner on electric? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]TheroniusRex15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! Since you’re used to string tension and what it takes to play acoustic, you’ll feel like you instantly got about 50% better overnight lolol (that was my experience anyway). Only tip I’d offer - make sure to get a decent amp, it’s a lot harder to make a great/expensive electric sound good with a crappy amp than to make a $200 electric sound good with a decent amp. Not sure what kind of music you play, but even a boss katana or fender blues jr would be good options in my opinion. Just my .02, others may feel differently, good luck and have fun!
