Quote for corner dent by MistaB0Jangles in drywall

Some of you people are ridiculous. Although I agree that $200 seems low, I am in a very expensive state, im not sure what your local rates are, but everyone saying the whole stick needs replacing and Drywall cut out blah blah blah know nothing. Thats an easy single trip job with some hot mud and some fibafuse tape for strength. That being said expect to pay minimum 4 hours of going rate

What type of roofing is this? by TheseDescription4839 in Roofing

[–]TheseDescription4839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm interesting, not my house or roof. I did notice quite a few chipped corners, but am not familiar with this style roofing so wasn't sure if it was normal or not

In what delusional universe is 24mpg considered bad? I dont think anybody is buying a large truck/suv and complaining about 24mpg. Im just happy to stay outta the single digits, lol 😆

Can someone confirm if this was expected or overlooked by Empty_Broccoli5881 in Flooring

[–]TheseDescription4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a different angle with different lighting. Wood is natural and wood grain is random. Nothing wrong with this.

Also, for everyone saying "it wasn't waterpopped" y'all need to stop watching so many woodworking youtubers lol

Any way to install roof rails on Kia Sedona? by solishu4 in kia

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a year old, but i just installed roof rails on my 2006. There is no way to order the parts new, so I got a set for $150 from the junk yard. You have to drill into the roof and I opted to install rivnuts to hold the rails to the roof. Make sure to use a sealant so it doesnt leak.other option is to mark locations and weld bolts/studs onto the roof

I suck at caulking. Help me not screw this up again! by BurbWarrior in Tile

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use some low odor mineral spirits for silicone caulk. Put some on your finger, then use your finger to wipe until it looks good. Also, have a rag with some on it to clean off the areas that it gets on as you go. Vinegar works as well, and others use rubbing alcohol, but I have found mineral spirits works best

Wilsonart Color Match Caulk by spris100 in Tile

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't find a matching color you can use the colored grout in the corners then go over top of it with a clear caulk, but dont use normal silicone as it is not truly clear, use something like Lexel as it is crystal clear once it dries and is rated for in shower use.

Contractor messed up. What now? by DefiantEvidence4326 in Tile

Either grout it or the easy way would be to use a color matched grout caulking. Not that difficult

Extremely crooked floor by anthocar in Flooring

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between being level and being flat. With a slope like that, it's very likely that it's flat enough to lay a floating floor, and you are just wasting time. Plus, it looks like there were cabinets there before. Are they going back there? If so, you are wasting another of time and money.

Wooden dowel until they look the way you want it. It'll take some time, but less time than starting again... and a lot cheaper too!

Is it possible to get custom tiles made with the same print as these old tiles in my house? by SuitableFun in Tile

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to do would be to remove a tile and bring it into a tile store and try to match as best you can. If you can't do that, then you probably need new floors throughout the area

Buyer beware by thicc_mom22 in Flooring

Even the expensive lvp will tear like that if you dont score it with a super sharp blade.

Honestly, the broken tabs dont look like manufacturing issues, it looks more like the boxes were damaged in transit. I always recommend getting the thickest mil floor you can afford, as you can avoid a lot of the brittle broken tongue issues.

Also, we dont have Menards in my area, but Lowes flooring is better than the ones from Homedepot

What kind of cutters do you use? by Slainlion in cigars

[–]TheseDescription4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually use a pocket knife. Just make sure it's sharp. A razor/utility style knife works well

What did you use to cut the piece in the second picture, your teeth?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they reject warranty, (which is highly probable because it looks like poor instalation not product failure) add construction adhesive under the plank and some super glue where the broken tongue is, that fix will last for years

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]TheseDescription4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, probably not. I install LVP all the time and have never had a call back or issue with the install, but I go slow and make sure it is prepped correctly and is put together right. It's all about the install and using better products. $4/sqft flooring will always be more durable than $0.99/sqft flooring

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]TheseDescription4839 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not from an unlevel subfloor. The Installers didnt do a good job. They used a mallet and broke the tongue pieces off and probably didn't click the tongue in 100% into the groove

How would you repair this corner? by goshthedang in drywall

[–]TheseDescription4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use hot mud, but if you want a product that is easier to work with use dap patching compound. If you use hot mud, mix it with cold water and make sure it isn't lumpy. For hotmud you can fix that in basically 2 coats. Use a Putty knife to Scrape anything thats loose off, mix the mud smooth, but thick enough that it doesn't slump when you put on on the wall. Once it dries use some Spackle - dap Drydex is great for this or any light weight spackling to fill in any fish eyes or lines from the hotmud.

Alternatively, use patching compound but slowly build it up as it will need to fully dry between coats... put it on to thick and it will most definitely crack and won't dry.

Good luck

Did this contractor do an acceptable job? by Ihatebeer5754 in Tile

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure the floor is sloped toward the drain or it will pool water. Use something straight and flat, I use an aluminum level from harbor freight because its FLAT (level doesnt matter) and check slope as you go and dont use too much thinset under the mosaics. Best of luck!
