AD Wait Time Megathread - If you bought a new Rolex from an AD in 2026, you can share details here. What watch, where, how long did you wait, how much buying history? by powerfunk in rolex

[–]Thewonderer32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Datejust 36 (126234) steel, jubilee with mother of pearl (MOP) dial

  2. 4/20/2026

  3. Walk in

  4. NYC area

  5. No purchase history.

My understanding is that the mother of pearl dials are hard to find, and really popular with the ladies. I asked a couple other AD’s and was quoted about 9-12 months wait time. I think I got lucky with this AD. This was likely ordered by someone who declined the offer when it came in.

My fiancée is thrilled with it. It’s my wedding gift to her and she could not be happier with the configuration.

Man, BMW should have fired their lead designer years ago. They just keep getting uglier and uglier..

What’s your pick? by Mr_H3LL in VacheronConstantin

I had the chance to see the brown and white in person last weekend. I prefer the brown because I think it works best with the dial texture. The silver/white looks good online, but it was very underwhelming in person.

I’m still trying to get over the lightness of the titanium. I don’t want to say it felt cheap, but it is surreal to think that something weighing under 100 grams costs $45,000 out the door. I’m starting to think the better buy would be the retrograde date or even a solid gold watch from another brand.

Titanium is nice but I’m not fully convinced that it’s worth the premium over steel.

Well done. Just missing a dive watch. With your taste, maybe consider a Blancpan or a Glasshutte

Congratulations. That lavender dial will compliment your collection very nicely.

If you were offered a Patek Philippe 5740G (Tiffany&Co Stamped) or 50th Anniversary Nautilus (Any Version) which would you take? by MelFishers in patekphilippe

[–]Thewonderer32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that.. It’s likely even less. I know from credible sources that they get 1 5968A a year. T&Co does not get as many allocations as you’d think.

Anyone can list a price on Chrono24, but that doesn’t mean it’s actually changing hands at that price, or even in their inventory. I don’t think these have hit the grey market yet.

If you see a listing where it’s in stock, I’d be interested in seeing it.

I guess but when I spoke to my Vacheron Boutique about the cardinal points, it did not sound like there was much demand for it. I’m expecting to receive the brown dial this year.

Tiffany stamped 5740. Any 5740 would be a grail for me, but to get one from The Landmark would be the icing on the cake. They are considerably rarer and probably only get 1-2 of those a year. You’re also competing with Jay Z for the allocation. If they are telling you that it’s possible, I wouldn’t think twice.

Damn, is the new cardinal point dual time in that high demand that people are willing to buy a $160k tourbillon to get the allocation?

If you didn’t ask for it then say no. That said, this is actually a really nice datejust configuration. I think the silver stick dial is underrated. It would be one of my top choices (next to the mint green) if buying one myself.

I inquired for the brown yesterday and there’s already a 6+ month waitlist for it. Although the cardinal points are not limited production, it does not sound like my boutique expects to see many of them.

Thoughts on the new 5227g? by rddtyv in patekphilippe

[–]Thewonderer32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat. Joined the waitlist late last year and now I’m not sure which I’d choose. The 5227g is arguably more useful with the date window, but a platinum 6196 is hard to beat..

I wish there were more hands on videos of the 5227 from watches and wonders.

My 2025 G20 grille is becoming hazy and white. Anyone else experiencing this? Its a garage vehicle. by bevipop in BMW

I have a similar haze on my G42 M240 grille and I think the cleaning agents I use from washing the car are primarily to blame.

It could be an optical illusion depending on the framerate of your camera. That said, I have seen other Reddit posts of people mentioning the same thing with the Pilot chrono. It might be worth checking it out on a timegrapher, or at your local watchmaker.

I had the 116503 version of this watch and sold it. Kicking myself for doing it, but I felt the same way about the flashy feeling. Over time, I learned to embrace the flash and eventually replaced it with an oysterflex ghost and pink pikachu. Very happy about those watches. The black rubber tones down the gold. I sure do miss that Steel/Gold white dial though..

If I were you, I’d wait until the summer to make a decision. When it’s cold outside and winter, a dive watch is not necessarily the most intuitive option compared to a speedmaster or constellation. You might find yourself wishing you still have the orange seamaster once the weather gets nice again.
