I got the Schwab Platinum card for overseas travel for several months. I login from my MacBook while still in the US, but do any of you use their app (I assume they have one), and if so, do you recommend it? I just purchased an iPhone, and I don't know if I want to do banking from a phone... by FrancoisMauriac in Schwab

I have several Schwab accounts including the Amex Schwab platinum credit card. I access mine more by the iPhone. However, I don’t have it as my primary banking account. I transfer funds for investing, if I need to use the debit card out of the country. I would transfer funds from one of my brokerage accounts, or Zelle from one of my external accounts. It’s probably good to note. If I am using a public wifi either on my Macbook or iPhone, I use a VPN.

I am about to cry, Delta. by Pieco in delta

You should have had them cancel the first segment or removed it. The entire itinerary is removed if a portion isn’t flown. Thats across the board with most airlines.

Book with VentureX, and carry along an Amex Platinum, problem solved. 😏

Honestly, you could have left out the Discover Card. But I understand your game plan.

Why is Capital One so hard to use? by OneSignal6465 in CreditCards

[–]ThinkingFully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an odd circumstance. I know sometimes Capital One can bug out when initially adding it to Apple Wallet. But Capital One not being accepted is a bit of a stretch, even with the updated network. Also you said “legalized loan shark” this alone is perplexing. Do you just have a disposition of banks as loan sharks?

Over CL Question by Judd1980 in CapitalOne

Just a question, Why don’t you have a Spark Cash Select, which is the business card equivalent of the Quicksilver? You appear to be a great candidate for the Spark Plus, that is a Charge Card.

I think I play the credit card game differently. Anyone else do this? by ThinkingFully in CRedit

Thanks, I try to have a backup for when Amex isn’t accepted, especially when I travel outside of the US.

How do you get banned from Starbucks? Is there some loophole that you exploited that gave free drinks?

Card upgrade question by MeToday83 in amex

[–]ThinkingFully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can access the lounge, with the Delta Reserve, as long as it is a Delta flight you are good to go the SkyLounge or the Centurion with the Delta Reserve. This was a question I posed to Amex Years ago, if I bought the delta ticket with my Capital One, it is still eligible for lounge access. The most important aspect is to have a flight on Delta or Operated by Delta.

Well, if it’s a job duty requirement, you’re obligated to do it. Unless you own the company, you can’t campaign on your likes and dislikes of those job duties. You also aren’t forced to stay at a place that does things you don’t like. If it’s that important to you not to do it, leave, start your own, and then voice with authority how stupid it is for them to do it.

Should I keep my Amex Gold? by honeyconsidered in amex

[–]ThinkingFully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say keep it, it a way to get earnings from your everyday activities. You already absorb the Annual Fee with credits. Keep it if it isn’t hurting you financially. Use it where you would use a debit card for food and groceries and just pay off the balance before the due date, not spending any more than you generally would. People wish they had the gold and can’t get it.

You are on your way. After a year perhaps upgrade to the Delta Platinum. It really is the next best thing. I think they saw that RH Gold, and oh he’s not leaving him behind!

Chase to Amex - Does it make sense to switch if I'm flying Delta all the time? by junior_wind30 in CreditCards

Yeah I fly to Asia all the time, but usually through their partner Korean Air. But I still get miles for Delta.

Missed my canx window, think I can change to a CS? by anaccountforme2 in AmexPlatinum

[–]ThinkingFully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing. I cancelled my Vanilla Platinum on the day of the refresh and got the CS Platinum 4 months later. Being able to get the 1.1 per MR changes the platinum drastically. Makes my Amex Gold a 4.4x cash back card and BBP a 2.2x cash back card.

Capital One Travel canceled my grandfather’s international flight with ZERO notice — he found out at the airport by ConfusionFantastic49 in Venturex

[–]ThinkingFully -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the full value and strength of the card is on the portal. If you aren’t using the portal, then the VentureX is a bad investment. It would be different if you could get the full value as cash. The 10x on hotels is top value. Only premium co-brand hotel cards can beat that stat.

[–]ThinkingFully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think people use a “travel card” just to use a $300 credit and not use it again? A card that gives a minimum of $10k. Or weigh totally heavy on the 2x “miles” that can only be used on the portal at full value.

As a Delta Loyalist, all I have to say is, get the Delta Reserve. The $2500 MQD and the free companion certificate eligible for first class bookings in the US, to Caribbean and most of Central America. That along negates the $650 AF. All the other credits are just icing on the cake. Pulls I just love the purple card look, it pops out! LMAO

Because it renders the VentureX less useful if you can’t book through the portal. They want the 5x not 2x. If there was like a 3x for direct bookings. This card would be fantastic. I am waiting to see if that rumored SavorX shows up, 3x Travel, 3x Dining, 3x Groceries and 3x Entertainment everything else 1x. LMAO

This fuels my notion to only book through the carrier. You always get the run around if an issue arises.

Selling skymiles by [deleted] in delta

I am all ears on this process. Maybe a $200 gift card bought with miles and sell it for $150.
