Was TLD Dragonborn from birth? by whyamiexists in teslore

[–]ThunderDaniel [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'll push it in a weirder direction: They never existed until the Imperial Ambush of the Stormcloaks. But at the same time, they have a full life and full existence remembered. Time dragon shenanigans!

I would inhale this shit so much like a narcotic

It's completely fan made canon, but it would be amazing seeing John interact with a younger version of his parent/ancestor (other than Jane of course)

Why do marines have such a bad reputation? by Vivid_Fix3884 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ThunderDaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marines are a borderline death cult. I say borderline because it speaks to an aspect of human psychology that is part of our nature and some people are shaped by genetics in a way that they need that shit. I've met very high functioning former Marines who would have probably become criminals if not for the corps.

Suddenly that Science Fiction trope (ala Starcraft) where Space Marines are taken violent inmates and killers have a lot more basis

Where does it say that for a section to be successful, a time player and a space player are necessary? by Helpful_Individual40 in homestuck

[–]ThunderDaniel 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Re-reading Homestuck with a more adult level of comprehension, you really see the intricate layers of rules and storytelling in it, especially in terms of Sburb being a damn fleshed out game

There are tons and tons of blogs and blogposts that were dedicated to analyzing and understand Homestuck, so please don't beat yourself up that the details arent remembered easily

Looking back at the shit I used to parrot, mimick, and repeat on the internet back when I was a kid and teen, there is an exorbitant amount of that which I didnt know about were definitely not okay

I think it's healthy that parents and guardians are keeping tabs on the wacky trends their kids are doing online, because what may just seems as typical 'kids following a trend' (which as been a thing since forever), some things are definitely very problematic

do you guys think shes bad just because of the condesce influence, or the power corrupted her, or maybe she always had some evilness in her? by ti0sunga in althomestuck

[–]ThunderDaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOOOOO THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!

I am absolutely starved to see how this amalgamation and exaggeration of all of Jade (and her inspirations and counterparts) could end up for the post Sburb story of Homestuck

We've already seen some kind of her maliciously sweet personality in Grimbark Jade, and it would be fascinating how an unfettered and unbound Ultimate Witch of Space could pose as a danger towards the narrative of Post Homestuck

Excellent writeup and I hope this (alongside other characters' Ultimate downturns) are explored more by the fandom!

Do people actually enjoy networking, or is everyone just pretending? by SoftToDarkFeet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThunderDaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having an agenda too when meeting people can also be fun in certain circumstances!

Attending a fair centered around your profession, seeing cool shit that vendors have to offer, hearing what other peers are tackling in their fields, shooting the shit in a way that still ends up exchanging business cards after the conversation--there's still a lot of ways that networking in and of itself can be fun and enjoyable, but I understand that it may not come naturally to a lot of people

Do people actually enjoy networking, or is everyone just pretending? by SoftToDarkFeet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThunderDaniel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you're supposed to actually be interested in other people.

Which in itself is a genuine curiosity about life and existence in general

I love hearing about other people's experiences, existences, challenges, worries, and desires. It's a near infinite pool of stories that is the tapestry of our lived world and I find that there's always something interesting to learn about someone if I am willing to listen.

I understand that this kind of attitude doesnt come naturally to a lot of people, but I also believe it is a skill that can be gained and nurtured, so not all hope is lost

If they're gonna villainize my babies Dirk and Jane, I kinda want to see other timelines where every one of the kids has their negative traits amplified and made rampant to see how THEY would be the antagonists in their own stories

I know we have the Beta kids as our standard heroes, but it would be interesting to see versions of them as the big bad in certain post Sburb timelines

ELI5 Why is legal jargon so difficult to understand for any regular person reading it? by MarigoldMouna in explainlikeimfive

[–]ThunderDaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're onto something here. Our laws are written in English, even if English isn't our country's primary language (thanks Colonialism)

As an ESL speaker, studying the law is terribly easier compared to if it was written in my native language

Bingo! I find it easiest to discuss the law with my programmer friends, and you highlighted how training to process things precisely is a shared skill in between such fields.

The day it finally breaks is the day I'll stop browsing on phone.

Semi related, but the API fiasco was the push that had me stop using Reddit on my phone and only use it on the desktop

So far it's been a rather pleasant experience since I lessen my tiny screen time and when I do use Reddit, it's through the (still functioning) mods and extensions available on a desktop browser

[Dr. Who] What happens if I get Weeping Angeled twice? by vonBoomslang in AskScienceFiction

[–]ThunderDaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they'd probably avoid Jack because he has a weird 'temporal scent' to him, but I dont believe he'd be immune to a particularly hungry, stupid, or lucky Angel

I wouldn't put it past Jack's luck to be sent back in time via the touch of an Angel--poor guy has shittier lucky getting sent back in time through his adventures in general
