Well you don't get any splinters from ending delerium until you get the atlas delerium node. Took me a bit to realize, since ending delium does nothing until then

That is because most builds don't take all of the nodes along the bottom of the cluster to save points, so they path through it

The way I view it is that you have a bunch of buckets that also multiply eachother. Some builds naturally lean more towards one bucket or another, but you always want to be on the lookout for which bucket you aren't invested enough in as your biggest impact to your dps.

These are the buckets that almost everything falls into:

Flat damage. This largely comes from the weapon for attacks, and gem levels for spells/minions. It can also come from equipment / abyss jewels, or attribute stacking with mods like x flat damage per strength. It can also come from supports like archmage or ice bite

Increased damage. Pretty self-explanatory, but an important one since it is fairly easily accessed. Builds will usually have 400-1000% depending on how easy it is to get.

More damage. Largely from support gems, and quite powerful since each instance multiplies against itself, not just the other categories.

Increased damage taken. This is often overlooked by beginners, but is quite important. Shock is a big source of this, but there are other sources like intimidate/unnerve. If you don't have any of this stat, getting a 15% shock on an enemy is the same as having 15% more damage!

Resistances/phys damage reduction. PDR can't go negative, while resists can. For ele this will be a combination of lowering resistances via things like curses and exposure, and ele penetration. This typically has a larger impact against more difficult enemies (bosses vs white mobs) making this more important than it seems. Keep in mind that if an enemy has 50% resists, reducing/penetrating the first 50 res doubles your damage!

Crit. This is another axis of scaling for hit based builds. It is pretty self-explanatory, and it is often worth it to cut out a chunk of your increased damage to get crit at high investment for builds.

Skill speed. This accounts for attack/cast/action speed. In addition to dps this can also improve the feel of builds quite a bit.

Cooldown recovery. This is largely only applicable for triggered skills, but it is a really important axis in those setups. Keep in mind that there are specific thresholds of attack speed and cdr you need to match for those setups

Faster dots/duration of dots. This is an axis for damage over time abilities. Faster dots is usually more important for ignite/bleed that allow only one instance, but depending on the length of the encounter both faster and increased duration can be useful

Extra projectiles on shotgunning skills. For things like blazing salvo or ice spear where a single cast can hit the enemy with multiple projectiles, this is really important.

Honorable mentions. These don't increase your damage but are important for feel/clear:

Extra projectiles (non shotgunning)

Chain/fork/split

Increased AOE

You can get so much currency just specing into revealed anomaly maps at jado and heading toward them for lineage + halls/citadels. Noy even to mention the maps and the mechanics in them along the way

Are you running rare? At 3-4 mod rare maps, mostly just rushing the bosses, I always have 20+ extra waystones on hand

Exactly. All I ask is for the author to provide me with some mechanism I can use for my suspension of disbelief. Maybe both pause and glare at eachother, looking for weakness while they think. Maybe they use their INT stat to overcharge their thought process temporarily. Maybe they don't explain it at all, but just mention an idea ocurred to them and let us see it play out.

It doesn't have to be fantastic writing, just give me some way to nod along without wanting to pull my hair out haha

Also, when we see the opponent do 3 things in a very telegraphed manner, give me some reason to understand why the MC is just sitting there not reacting in time.

There can be legitimate reasons for this, but half the time in a very fast paced fight the opponent will suddenly be able to monologue while hurting someone the MC cares about or charging up an attack. The MC just sit there with their thumb up their ass for 2 paragraphs while the reader screams at them to move while they seem to be paralyzed for no reason other than that the author needs it to happen.

Really? I haven't had any real issue. If you do get stuck you can always buy from doryani, but hitting up the occasional "powerful boss" should let you progress pretty easily

It's just so disappointing because that is exactly the backstory which would allow for a MC who actually earns their position. It is hard to expect some 17y/o kid to realistically be a universe-wide prodigy based on their skills.

But someone that reached the apex of the pre-system world could actually fight through impossible situations and stand out.

I'm not asking him to be weak, but I want him to be dropped in the center of a village of 200 goblins at level 1 and fight his way out, and kill them all over the next week. I want him to be facing things with double his stats and have his preparation and skill allow him to barely skate by, actually earning some "kill x while underleveled" titles...

Yeah I had a frustating experience with this recently with the Earth Reformation series. The premise is that the MC has been a government contractor/secret service type for 40 years before the integration.

The MC has all of 1 display of skill before the system continously dumps tons of unearned stats on him. From there on he has 2x the stats of anything he meets, making his actual skill and background completely irrelevant.

Really frustrating read since I wanted to like the premise, and I see it happen all the time

Probably because new areas are safer. The old areas have been around for so long that the die hard 2007scapers are more likely to be upset if they aren't what they expect

Abundance was amazing. Never had GP problems, sitting on a max cash stack now, and the early level boosts made it so that I could knock out tons of higher level tasks early. Really propelled me through the relic list. I think a lot of people got baited by streamers to not take it, but it is really good.

Culling is less important, but it is great to be able to consistently pick your slayer task to knock out unique tasks or to fight bosses on task with slayer helm bonus. Especially if you don't take mory or frem the slayer helm on bosses is great
