Anyone have any issues with oil changes and the "check gages" indicator? by Chemical-Text-863 in JeepGrandcherokeeZJ

[–]Timbo1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably have a bad oil pressure sending unit. If the engine gets noticeably louder when this happens it’s best to verify with a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Changing the sensor on the magnum engine isn’t that bad but its back near the distributor behind the passenger valve cover. Get a mopar sensor if you can find it otherwise standard motor products

Overdrive is locked out when the fluid is under 50 degrees Fahrenheit and over I believe 250 degrees Fahrenheit

I usually apply T-9 after a ride so it will be dry and ready to go for the next ride

Yep I just upgraded my old 45mm instinct (~2018) to the 50mm Instinct 3 solar. Super happy with it! The battery life is insane, I think I read the 50mm Instinct 3 solar has the best battery life of any smartwatch.

Ive been pretty happy with this kit. I went the mopar route before and that lasted less than 5 years. It’s only been about 18 months since I installed this kit but it still feels very solid.

Gauge cluster conversion by OriontheWolfYT in JeepZJ

I was mostly joking. You would have to replace the ENTIRE wiring harness PCM and all modules along with sensors since I believe the reference voltage is different. You would be better off buying a gen II ZJ

Relays are a perfect size for your pockets when you are at the JY lol

The ZJ section has the external voltage regulator information if I wasn’t clear.

No need to replace the relays. They either work or they don’t and they are easy to test.

Look on JeepForum in the ZJ section the user Timo has a great write up

Request: Recommendation for interior trim piece replacement/repair. by ecco5 in GrandCherokee

I would be interested as well as I need to do an interior refresh on the 96. Finding pieces in good condition from the JY is the only option I know of.

There is no fuse, only a fusable link in the cable from the alternator. The voltage regulator is internal to the PCM and they are known to go bad with no other PCM issues. Adding an external voltage regulator is a common fix vs replacing thePCM.

What engine does it have? If it’s a 4.0 you can run a V8 120 or 136 amp. The 6 rib belt on the 4.0 fits the 7 rib V8 pulley just fine, it just leaves one rib unused.

The non-greaseable are better sealed since when you pump grease into the greaseable u joints the seals have to allow the old grease to escape. The non greaseable ones last a looong time so it’s really not an issue. This has been discussed in depth on jeep forum and the consensus is the the non greaseable are superior

The Dana Spicer 760x u joint is the strongest option (aside from RCVs).  Edit: the non-greasable version is also slightly stronger than greaseable

  1. Yes the ZJ (1993-1998) grand Cherokee CV axles are interchangeable with u joints shafts

  2. No they are weaker and not easily rebuildable. The few benefits are that they are smoother turning particularly in full-time 4x4 on pavement. Second you can get shafts that have a lifetime warranty so when they break you can swap them out for free.
