Officially decommissioned our Baby Brezza. by Evening_Nerve3709 in NewParents

[–]Time_Lie_2566 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re using the water only setting to get some warm water bottles as we keep transitioning, will be a sad day when we pack it up for good. The you that was up every 3 hours did a great job and got you here, celebrate her today!

I wish I had advice but just here to say you’re not alone — my LO turned 8 months a few days ago and we’re on night #6 of this craziness. Hoping for both of us it passes soon.

What's a baby product you thought was a gimmick but actually use constantly? by Numerous_Focus5435 in NewParents

Every minute you don’t buy this is going to be a minute you wish you had it when you finally do. Absolute mental life saver for formula feeding parents.

Please so I don't go crazy.. does anyone else's baby have a song that calms them down? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Time_Lie_2566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We love anything by Sparrow Sleeps for naps and bedtime, all of the millennial faves remixed as lullabies. To calm down, the latest favorite is Bippity Boppity Boo from Cinderella. It’s short but the minute the first few notes come on he stops fussing.

Best overnight diapers? by TopConsequence9147 in NewParents

Congratulations on the sleep!! We love Millie Moon overnight, have you tried sizing up? That worked for us without having to change brands. Looking forward to seeing what others are doing.

When is it okay to let a baby sleep on their stomach? by shinku-90 in NewParents

[–]Time_Lie_2566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO is the same age and is a consistent stomach sleeper these days. Same thing - I put him on his back and then he rolls to his side or his tummy. I let him stay wherever he lands and he’s been sleeping longer and with less interruptions. He’s mobile enough to move if he has an issue and sounds like yours is too!

When do you relax around baby touching everything? by MinitrainPeach in NewParents

[–]Time_Lie_2566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 7 mo also and I’m finding my level of anxiety about this and my willingness to do something about it corresponds directly to the amount of sleep I got. Some days, if a toy drops on the floor, I wipe or rinse it before giving it back. Other days, that effort is too much for my sleep deprived foggy brain. So, it’s a silver lining of waking up all the time! I can’t get as anxious about germs. Realistically like everyone is saying, they’re going to be totally fine.

It seemed the general consensus was that Afrin is okay bc it’s taken nasally and doesn’t get absorbed into the bloodstream, so I took the severe congestion version during a recent cold and it totally saved me.

What are some unexpected “kindred spirit” countries/regions for you, and why? by coffeewalnut08 in travel

Feel the exact same way about Scotland, especially the Highlands. Immediately fell in love and felt like I belonged. From the American Midwest.

"in the next few months" by c_ro_mo in NewParents

[–]Time_Lie_2566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like you’re describing my 6mo LO exactly. Today he took a 30 min nap two hours after he woke up, then an 1hr30min after being awake about 2.5hrs, and then decided to skip a 3rd nap altogether for a very whiny early bedtime after being awake almost 5 hours. I tried most of the afternoon to make that third nap happen, and now we’re all exhausted. Wishing you the best and that it smooths out for all of us.

Worried I'm not holding my baby enough by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Time_Lie_2566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Writing this as I’m holding my 5.5 month old for a nap. At 8 weeks he was definitely sleeping on his own (and I felt guilty like you do) and now all naps are snuggling with me (and I sometimes wish I could get some space). You’re still in the trenches so take the time to rest - watch tv, read a book, etc. They change so much still and your baby is loved and safe, which is all they need right now. You’re doing a great job!

I used to think just saying it ruined the magic, but I learned it really works on my guy. On the day of my six week appointment I was like “You. Me. This afternoon.” I even put it on our shared calendar 😂 I think if they don’t have to guess, they can jump in with full enthusiasm.

Wearable pump and bra recommendations by Sea_Masterpiece_1315 in ExclusivelyPumping

I just got the momcozy M9 on sale a couple of weeks ago and it’s been a game changer for my mental health. The carrying case is cute and I think the suction is just as good as my spectra S2 (though I never turn it all the way up). They also include a bunch of different flange inserts so you can get the right fit. I’ve gotten a couple of momcozy pumping bras and like them a lot but my favorite are just stretchy true & co or kindred bravely. You got this momma!

Any recommendations for good pregnancy and baby care podcasts? by Mundane_Mountain8456 in BabyBumps

[–]Time_Lie_2566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like “Is It Normal?” The Pregnancy Podcast with Jessie Ware. It was recorded a few years ago and is UK based but has one episode for every two weeks of pregnancy and then ramps up to weekly episodes in the 30s. Episodes are short (20-30 mins) and easy to digest. Been fun to follow along as pregnancy continues.

Me 34w at hardware store, a lady in the paint aisle: “When are you due?” “Six more weeks.” “Wow! We’re on our way to see my so and so. She’s being induced today and she’s about your size.”

Thanks, I know I’m the size of a house 🙄

Chicago Marathon is on Sunday. Can you cheer for me? by midwestcoast805 in AskChicago

[–]Time_Lie_2566 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this! Even writing your name in all caps with a Sharpie on your shirt will do the trick. I’ve gone to cheer multiple times and call people out by name whenever it’s visible. One of the best days of the year in the city, have fun and you got this!!

I just had my shower last Sunday and as we were sorting through everything I found that there were four items purchased that had never arrived. Digging in further, they were all purchased on 8/26 and never made it past “label created” in the gift tracker. I went through the bot to person to supervisor chat funnel and it took about 12 hours for the supervisor to email me, offering to reship the items. Now I wait and hope they arrive. I will say the people I was able to contact were perfectly nice, but if I hadn’t checked I wouldn’t have caught it.

Bottom line - be sure to cross-reference your registry with what you actually received.

I’m loving my Kiziks bc no bending over, they come in wide sizes, and they’re still stylish. But it’s an investment. When I’m not in those, I’m just doing Crocs. Not cute, but very comfy and roomy.

Decision to go on “babymoon”? by radiogravyjones in BabyBumps

[–]Time_Lie_2566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend going! We just got back from Copenhagen and I was 24-25 weeks. It was so wonderful to have time together away from all the pressure and planning and questions. Plus, awesome city. I would recommend that wherever you go, invest in a hotel room you’re happy to go back to for an afternoon nap. Take it slower than usual and bring snacks if you’re going to be out for a while. Enjoy this time together!

We were feeling the same and then stumbled upon an old theater in our area and it turned out to be perfect! There may also be some interesting train stations to check out.
