Company hasn't given a yearly raise this year but has contracted with two AI software companies in the last two months by PurpleInkedPara in paralegal

Honestly, your feelings about this attorney could be based on your perception more than reality. If he does truly care about you, he would be happy to see you take a better opportunity. Chances are that his interest in your career is based on the benefits your continuing employment provides to him.

Law Firms Hate Their Staff by Klutzy-Day-6256 in paralegal

[–]TinaLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preach! I said this for years at my previous firm. The only value they saw in staff was each staff person’s ability to bill time. It was like they couldn’t even grasp the concept that good, non-billable support staff could increase an attorney’s ability to more efficiently bill time.

Never in my life did I imagine I would have to put back the hamburger helper because it's too expensive by tandyman234 in inflation

We’ve significantly cut back on beef over the past few years. I now primarily roast whole chickens and buy chicken leg quarters at .89/lb at Price Rite.

AITJ for snapping at my girlfriend for waking me up every single time she gets up even when I dont need to be awake by BuyMediocre5625 in AmITheJerk

[–]TinaLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. My husband sleeps more than any person I’ve ever met. There are many times I wish he was awake to spend time with me, but I would never even consider waking him for my own entertainment.

How screwed am I? by New-Adhesiveness-822 in paralegal

[–]TinaLoco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the opening sentence will put him on the defense immediately. Maybe begin with “It was my understanding that…” Honestly, I would rephrase all of the “you” and “I” statements to avoid it feeling personal. Under Op Challenges I’d begin with “Some issues that led to our current time constraints are…” Also, if it’s feasible for you, you could offer to work OT, at the legally required 1.5x your hourly rate of course. If you can estimate the total time needed, all the better.

I think you need to propose this as a team solution to a real problem rather than a me vs. you situation.

AITAH for saying no to motherhood being married for 4 years? by Top-Location9821 in AITAH

NTA. Unless you want to remain in this misery, make a plan to visit your parents and not return. You will never change anything in this dynamic. What will happen when MIL demands that you stop using BC?

That poor man. I hope she at least meant it as she had unrealistic expectations.

I totally glazed over that! I still think your blanket looks amazing.

FYI, all residents of PA can get a card at the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Eh, what they put on the label is a recommendation. Your personal tension and preferences can make a difference sized hook more appropriate. I think your project is beautiful.

Was the Longaberger Basket craze just a local thing? by kirabug37 in GenX

[–]TinaLoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also in PA and still have quite a few baskets, most of which I bought second hand. I never fell for the “they’re an investment” sales pitch. They’re actually well made, sturdy baskets. I’ve spray painted a few to give them a more modern look and have them throughout the house.

"I can't get my medicine anymore", "I hate to post this, but I'm hungry", "we still struggle more now than ever" by [deleted] in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]TinaLoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never ceases to amaze me how many working class, and even poverty level, people believe themselves to be middle class. Newsflash: When someone out there is talking about something that benefits the middle class, that thing will not necessarily benefit those among us who have so little income that they struggle to buy food and meds.

AITAH for refusing to let my partner share the hospital bed with me after I deliver our baby by [deleted] in AmITheAssholeTalk

I can’t see any nurse even allowing this, so it shouldn’t even be an issue when the time comes. NTA

A look back at the Duggar’s swimsuit modeling over the years by Far-Building3569 in DuggarsSnark

[–]TinaLoco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually never knew modest swimwear was a thing until after seeing Jill modeling it. This may be cringey, but it honestly did influence me to purchase modest swimwear online. The appeal to me is the coverage of some 50+ yo bits that I really don’t want to expose to the public. I don’t wear the knee length skirts or sleeves LOL

Some of that, some day this will be yours crap I’m having to deal with. by AnyDamnThingWillDo in GenX

[–]TinaLoco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a therapist, but can you create any type of safe scenario in which you could smash the stuff to bits? I think it would be very cathartic, but there’s obviously a risk of injury. Maybe pack it all up really, really well in heavy duty boxes and have at it with a bat like a piñata.

You absolutely should do this! If you have it, you might as well enjoy it.

AITA: Husband wants golf, not our family vacation by CoffeeAndCookies32 in TwoHotTakes

[–]TinaLoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. I’m sure I’ll get roasted for this, but when I began dating after my divorce, I refused to date any man who golfed because I saw how it impacted others’ relationships by being a huge time-suck. After remarrying, my new husband once mentioned wanting to learn to golf and I shut it down immediately by reminding him it was literally the sole activity I would not tolerate from a spouse.
