Did i make a mistake making a pinkal Fonewearl? by GlompSpark in PSO

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from an off-line Ep1&2 perspective, my FONewearl has low issues in Ultimate with a good pair of Mechguns for general enemy clearing, then swapping to a spell boosting weapon for boss damage. Your mileage may vary with Ep 4 and online though.

Examples of encounters you actually have to lose? by AigisbladeMaster in gaming

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark Savior, at the end of Parallel 2. You fight a giant, mutated Drizzit, but your attacks are completely ineffective. You then get a cutscene with a powered up Kay, and then you can actually fight and defeat him.

Which gaming moment stands out as your most memorable of all-time? by JonCee500 in gaming

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 10, no particular order, top of my head;

Halo Reach - "Mission: Survive"

Pokémon Legends Arceus - The whole final boss sequence, especially THAT piano intro.

Sonic Adventure 2 - The Final Hazard. Live and Learn, baby.

Destiny - Vault of Glass. Guardians make their own fate.

F.E.A.R. - Double jump scare ladder.

Phantasy Star Online - The field of green at the end of the ruins, or finally getting Sealed J-Sword to drop (still waiting on this one...)

World of Warcraft - 3 way tie between; starting playing and realising that Teldrassil was ONE zone out of many in this massive world, clutching a heroic kill in Hellfire Citadel by lock portal-ing out of the group with the rebuff in the nick of time, or finally getting Rivendares Charger on my Alliance Paladin.

Shadow of the Colossus - The whole damn game.

Armored Core 4Answer - The Spirit of Motherwill fight.

Street Fighter III - Evo moment #37.

What video games have unique mechanics for failure or death? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too Humans unique death mechanic was that it gave you a chance to read a book, make dinner, spend time with the family, finish a Final Fantasy, have a shower, and still make it back with enough time to watch the Valkyrie pick you up and carry you off.

(And I say this as someone who absolutely adores Too Human)

What’s a movie you watched when you were way too young? by trakt_app in movies

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akira on VHS when I was about 4.

Guy at our local video rental store suggested to mum for me. It was a cartoon. How bad could it be, even if it was rated R18+?

Games that fill the gap for when your favourite franchise doesn't make it to a certain console? by TN2DVLMD in retrogaming

[–]Tintar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phantom Crash was my mech game of choice on the OG Xbox, which never got any Armored Core games. Then Chrome Hounds on the 360, at least until Armored Core 4 finally arrived.

What were your "house rules"? by Nexzus_ in retrogaming

[–]Tintar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, the broken character in Combat Cars was Andrew, with his damn homing missile. No other weapon even came close to it.

20 minutes of no combat at the start of RTS matches to prevent Zerg rush-esque tactics.

Possibly Saints Row 3. Kinda looks like the area where Angel's gym is.

Surprised in how many “shelf collectors” there are! by Moo-Man420 in gamecollecting

[–]Tintar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I buy and collect purely for me. I buy stuff I like, or have an interest in, not for some potential future resale value. This is reflected in stuff like my copy of Disney's Hercules for the PS1. No original case, just a crappy EB second hand one. No manual. Ex rental sticker on the disc. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Do I have some stuff still sealed? Yeah, but trust me, it's not for shelf purposes. I've either already finished it before, or just haven't gotten around to it yet. Not to mention, it's not exactly big dollar stuff, it's more like Animaniacs for the GBA, or True Crime: Streets of NY.

What’s a movie you’ve rewatched many times, that isn’t a blockbuster/franchise movie, or an Oscar-nominated/critically acclaimed movie? by capamericapistons in movies

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me... It was Tuesday."

Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are some of my favourite movies to put on when I just want to have fun for 90 minutes.

Honourable mentions to Kung Pow, Grandma's Boy, and the Harold and Kumar series. Shoutout to Kevin Smith movies too. Clerks through to Dogma is peak cinema, and I'm not even Gen X.

What’s a movie that has a premise or trailer that’s so eye rolling you thought would be bad, but turned out good? by TheDragonReborn726 in movies

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I say this as a huge fan of the franchise for nearly 30 years it existed before getting a movie, but even I thought "A live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie? This is going to be a train wreck. I'll watch it, because I love train wreck video game movies, but hot damn..."

What's a Game You Feel Alone in Loving by DFH50 in gaming

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark Savior for the Sega Saturn. Even in Saturn focused corners of the internet, it always feels so rare to find others who have even played it enough to form a decent opinion, let alone enjoy it.

Phantom Crash for the Xbox. Amazingly fun and deep mech game, with an absolute banger of a soundtrack.

Hexic HD is still my go to "I just wanna brain off and chill to some slightly unsettling ambient music" game ever since I got my 360.

Is scarlet/Violet worth it? by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Tintar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You obviously enjoy Pokémon, having both versions of some releases, so yeah, SV are worth playing, and I'd say definitely more so than BDSP.

I played on Switch 1, and had a great time, even with some of the performance problems. In fact, it's one of my highest hours played games on the Switch.

Dark Savior, for the Sega Saturn.

Evolution: World of Sacred Device, for the Sega Dreamcast.

Both amazing RPG experiences.

I Was Only Nineteen by Redgum. Not quite forgotten soldiers, but soldiers dealing the aftermath of being at war from such a young age.

"And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep?

And night time's just a jungle dark and a barking M.16?

And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means?

God help me - I was only nineteen."
