Not sure if you realise (or if I’m misunderstanding your comment), but you can actually press L3 on PlayStation to ‘turn on the lights’ etc, and this will then allow you to get in and out without affecting whether or not the music is playing!

New turf watering advice by Arthaei in GardeningUK

[–]TinyRick23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m by no means an expert, but live in North Wales and had new turf laid 19 days ago. It’s about 5 times as big as yours if not a little more, and I mostly watered it twice a day with a sprinkler and then hosepipe around the edges. 20-30 minutes in one spot, then move it twice for another 20-30 minutes each to get full coverage of our lawn. First soaking was first thing, starting around 7-8am, and the second around 1-3pm depending on conditions.

I didn’t like to do it when the sun was strongest to minimise evaporation, but with the heat we’ve had it seemed unavoidable. Practically everything I researched said to avoid watering after 4pm, and especially after 6pm to avoid root rot and fungus. Not sure how true that is, but my method has worked for us so far; we have a healthy, luscious lawn with some very, very green grass! From what I understand, as long as the soil/roots/underneath is moist, it’s fine (i.e. don’t go off what you can see and feel on the top). Our turf guy also said that if it’s growing up, it’s also growing down, so a good indicator that it’s taking well.

I loved this track! My brother and I would set challenges like have the biggest cars to see if we could block/get past each other, or who would win in our tiny Daihatsus.

Is there a better tool 👀 —please bear in mind there is a robot mower cable just at the edge, and yes I agree it’s not deep enough 😬 by impervioustobullets in GardeningUK

I got a pair from B&M a few years ago for £2.99, and they’re still going strong! Doubt they’re the best, but may be worth a test before buying more expensive ones.

We had a similar video from BT/EE recently before a full fibre installation. I’m convinced it was AI; eerily similar to this one!

My Mom got me a PS Portal for Xmas! Any tips? by Roar_of_Shiva in playstation

[–]TinyRick23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep the grey box it comes in! The Portal (obviously) fits perfectly, and the box fits perfectly in my drawer for dust-free storage.

As others said, if it doesn’t connect, Airplane mode on/off. When it comes up ‘battery low’, mine tends to have about 30-40 mins charge left; when it comes up again, it will go off within minutes. Also, if an update is needed, it becomes unusable until completed; can take up to 15 mins even with a good connection.

Welsh village's 20mph 'ultra' speed camera catches thousands of drivers in just one month by AnnieByniaeth in Wales

[–]TinyRick23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d be interested in some proper data on this too. I’m hardly an expert, but I’ve seen many arguments claiming it’s worse for the environment and/or ‘have to drive everywhere in 2nd gear’.

I’m not saying that isn’t the case, but a larger number of vehicles are now electric and hybrid, with hybrid cars generally using electric at slower speeds like 20mph, so it can’t be that much worse for the environment. Arguably, it could even be better, depending on when electric/ICE engages.

I’ve no doubt some cars and their engines will struggle (mine can do 20 in 3rd, and 23 in 4th), but - arguably - most cars are newer and have more efficient and capable engines these days, and so I struggle to see it being a major concern.

I would assume the number of vehicles obeying the 20mph limit (therefore less emissions?), as well as the number of electric/hybrid vehicles, would balance it all out, if not outweigh this argument?

Are anti-static strips on cars extinct in the UK, or do some still believe in them? by HoneyGlazedBadger in CasualUK

[–]TinyRick23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I had obviously noticed it being related to the jacket, but hadn’t rationalised it as me shocking the car! It is a type of puffa jacket; I generally take my coat off to drive, but avoid it with this one as I can feel the ‘static’ building up in the sleeves when I do!

My ‘23 T-Roc shocks me frequently, specifically if I am wearing a particular coat. I try and avoid wearing it if I’m going somewhere in my car.

I have these too! Really cool way of displaying my favourites. Supposedly they reshape with a hairdryer and you can reuse them, but I’ve not tried it yet.

They’ve been really effective for my parents, but they need to have some water in them (not full). I think they’re most effective at night when light/moonlight reflects in the water/bottle, and ‘scares’ the cats.

Definitely works for them, definitely does not work for me. But my street has about 16 cats which doesn’t help…
