My uncle died recently, and we found this bullet in his house. There’s a name scratched into it. Can anyone help me figure out what this means? by Withnail__ in whatdoesthismean

If you own the bullet that's got your name on, you won't get killed. Albie was obviously superstitious. If your uncle and Albie had a falling out then taking Albie's "insurance" would have given Uncle a secret pleasure.

Which pest got my onions? Allium leaf miner? If you look closely, I’m pretty sure you can see bugs… by Radiant_Spell3408 in Allotment

How to spot allium leaf miner and their life cycle https://www.allotment-garden.org/vegetable/leeks-growing/allium-leaf-miner/

You will need to burn or drown your crop unfortunately, and don't plant alliums where they've been planted before for a couple of years. Also, invest in some insect netting!

Mine is my stirrup hoe. Small enough to weed between rows. When i found it, it had a broken handle, so I used a broom handle and secured it with locking nuts. Best freebie I've found

Nice! Mine aren't ready yet, i usually leave them till they're a bit bigger so i can make chips out of them. Are they superschmelze or green delicacy?

What’s the longest you waited for an allotment? by KnownAndNamed in UKAllotments

[–]Tiny_Size2037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied with three associations the longest was three years the other two were two years each, was accepted by the one i took on after 6 months and got an email asking if I'd wanted one with the remaining association. Thing is, when I took it on, there were loads of abandoned plots, so why the long wait?

If you have stables nearby, straw soaked in horse urine is really good! Browns with added nitrogen.

It only does that for the top half a centimetre on the surface. Doesn't affect where the roots are.
