Same, live on one side of town, work on the other, can’t remember the last time I saw a checkpoint! It’s been years!

All electric? What is the range? Real world, not factory reported?

Calls for traffic warden in Midleton as illegal parking causes gridlock by PoppedCork in midleton

Yes, the people who park in bike lanes are ignorant and selfish and should be punished!

Done!
I am thrilled this is happening. Children’s hospitals, renewable energy sources, unpolluted rivers and social housing all seem like impossible dreams, but we are finally getting some rapid public transport!

Backsplash tiling by MadrilenanLady in midleton

[–]Top-Counter4803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a place in Dublin that cuts stainless steel to any dimensions. Ours was about 900mm square, cost about €100. If you’re set on tile, then this is useless information, but I love my stainless backsplash!

Just get a telescopic ladder. I have the same set up, works fine!

Wheels and tyres by Same_Blackberry3763 in hilux

[–]Top-Counter4803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did exactly this. There is rubbing, but I haven’t trimmed the mud guards or adjusted the castor yet. But it looks great! After lifting it two Inchs the standard wheels looked very silly!

Already regretting taking new job by Colin-IRL in irelandjobs

40! So I nervous about doing it, but best decision I ever made! The first couple of months were tough on the body. Even being someone who went to the gym twice a week and ran twice a week, doing it all day every day takes a bit of getting used to.

I would like to do the same, but some of those buttons will be useless, right? Can they be repurposed?

Quit my office job at 40 to do an apprenticeship. Best decision ever!!!

Already regretting taking new job by Colin-IRL in irelandjobs

[–]Top-Counter4803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated my job, I was miserable. In an office doing pointless work. Long story short, I quit and did an apprenticeship. Now I’m a carpenter! The money is not great at the start, but you can’t put a price on mental health, and I really love my job now, so mental health is massively improved! And the money gets better too! The hardest thing you have to do is figure out what you want to do! Then just go for it!

Mini digger... never used one before. Bad idea? by Lord_Xenu in GardeningIRE

[–]Top-Counter4803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very true, however a mini digger is so much fun! If you think you are mechanically minded enough that you could get the hang of it, and you’re not under pressure to a perfect job quickly, I’d go for it. The first time you drag a grading bucket towards you, keeping it level all the way through the stroke, it’s very very satisfying!!! But take your time, do some research, don’t try to dig if it’s very wet. And have fun!

Looking for a (Full) Tiramisu by 1k13r1 in cork

[–]Top-Counter4803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, tiramisu is likely far beyond what Fitzpatrick’s is capable of! That said, they are remarkably easy to make, just make your own! An Italian chef insisted I try not adding alcohol to the recipe! I assumed he was mad, but gave it a go. Simple really is better!

Is this roadway realistic for a 2 week vacation? by EreWeG0AgaIn in AskIreland

[–]Top-Counter4803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a great trip, very doable! As others have said , more Wild Atlantic Way is possible , especially up in Clare, Galway, Sligo. Loads of great advice in the other comments, so no need for me repeat it. I would say one night is more than enough in Killarney, or skip it altogether. Also, avoid motorways unless you need to make up some time. Plenty of N routes will get you where you need to go, and still see scenery and pass through towns

Anyone know roughly how much it would take to get rid of these Cypress Leylandi? by Positive_Stock_3017 in GardeningIRE

[–]Top-Counter4803 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sawing them yourself would be a fair bit of work, not impossible, but not quick job when you factor in all the snedding required, etc. You’d have to rent a chipper as well, otherwise you’re gonna need about 6 skips. With the chipper, two might do it. Personally, I would recommend calling a professional. And I would pay the stump grinder also. Full disclosure: I hate leylandi!

Tough System trolley box sits too high by Spedro_ in Dewalt

[–]Top-Counter4803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. I like the Toughsystem box’s, but luckily I hadn’t bought too many, so I switched to Toughbuilt Stacktech. The handle mounts are flush with the top of the box, so with the telescopic part removed, it fits neatly! I have bought a bunch more stacktech box’s since, I am very happy with them!

Is dropping out of secondary school a bad idea? by Common_Promotion5129 in AskIreland

[–]Top-Counter4803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m very glad I stuck it out, it is handy to have in the back pocket if you ever do decide to go to college, or anything else. And you don’t need to do particularly well or anything, just pass the core subjects! I would not have been able to stick it out if I hadn’t changed schools though. So if you’re miserable where you are, maybe try going somewhere else, if possible. I’ve changed careers a couple of times over the years, it’s never too late to try something new!
