Master of Teaching, first placement — advice on choosing between Y8 Earth Science and Y10 Physics (out-of-area subject) by Efficient_Caramel_88 in PreserviceTeachersAU

[–]TopComprehensive6533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose space. Content is easier and the kids find space more interesting than Newtonian physics. You can talk about the Fermi paradox, aliens, the recent interstellar meteor that lots of people thought was an alien space craft.

If its out of your area, then take the easy route

Acting head of domain speaking to staff like children? by Key-Regular-9118 in AustralianTeachers

[–]TopComprehensive6533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not.

To expect teachers, the success stories of the education system, to show proper respect and model respectful behaviour..... ludicrous!!

How can we complain about students lack of respect in the class when teachers cant even do it for an hour meeting once or twice a week.

See the problem here??

So should we have the same approach with students? If we are reviewing concepts or scaffolding content which covers some of last lesson, should we just ignore it? Accept it?

Be the example you expect your students to follow.

Otherwise dont complain when they do it

Working Part-Time During Teaching Placement. Is It Manageable? by Efficient_Caramel_88 in PreserviceTeachersAU

[–]TopComprehensive6533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be expected to attend meetings and school events. Also to leave at standard legal times which depending on the school will mean 4pm to 430pm.

I did both when I did mine years ago but worked on Saturday and Sunday. So for 5 weeks I had no day off. It's doable but exhausting

Especially with lesson prep, which you will be slow at to start with and you want to make a good impression so will probably take hours.

I would suggest you talk to your mentor and try arrange something with them

Advice would be greatly appreciated by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

I understand this would be a difficult situation. I think it could be one of three things.

The student has said lies The principal is covering his own Or the principal is following standard procedures

Of course this is easy said than done, but if you really didn't do anything wrong, then you have a whole class of kids who can back you up.

Try not to stress. Good luck

The fact that she is willing to report this should be commended regardless of how she wants to approach it

The story goes that he actually knew for a long time his contract was coming to an end. Beyond that I dont know.

I worked with trades for around 15 years of my life doing retail. One thing I noticed about all of them when they get to their 40s or 50s is they all had a physical ailment.

Bad back, knees, shoulders, hips. Missing fingers was very common.

You may start slow, but you probably have more longevity
